𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 discipline that studies the magical properties of numbers, including predicting the future with numbers and numerology.  Arithmancy also happened to be one of Nyx's favourite classes after Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, and Transfiguration. Having a class solely based on numbers (even if it was magical) was the close thing that reminded Nyx of her time thinking she was a muggle, before any of this. Sure, there were classes like Muggle Studies but it wasn't as interesting as Arithmancy. It was basically math with a hint of magic, most of their homework assignments include writing essays that required the consultation and/or commotion of complex numerical charts — very fun stuff.

"Ron and I stopped arguing," said Hermione when they sat down, "not that we were even arguing in the first place. I'd say ... having a difference in opinion is a better way to put it."

"Uh-huh, sure," Nyx nodded.

"Either way Harry needs to stop taking his temper out on us," Hermione grumbled while they took out their quills, charts, and parchment. "It's rude, and we're only just trying to help — we're there for him as friends and yet he's just..."

"We've all been angry at each other before, I can't even calculate on my fingers the number of times you and Ron have been furious at one another," Nyx whispered casually.

Hermione pressed her lips together in a firm line, "That's ... that's different."

"Right, because it's your love language."

"W-what?" Hermione had gone a brilliant red. But before she had time to say anything else, Professor Vector had entered the room and their class began promptly. Unfortunately, they didn't have a double period this time, unlike for Potions. This means that time has passed a lot quicker than before.

Once it was the last ten minutes of class, Hermione and Nyx were both finished with their classwork and now they peacefully completed their homework and while simultaneously chatting to one another. It was better to get it done now seeing as Professor Binns had given them a foot-and-a-half-long essay on the giant wars, and Severus wanted a foot on the use of moonstones.

"I don't understand why you're defending him."

"Not defending just understanding," Nyx defended and the bell rang, they gathered their things and walked to Defence Against the Dark Arts. "I believe he's within every right to be angry."

"I'm not saying he isn't, I'm just saying I don't like being a punching bag."

"And you're within every right to feel that way too."
