Hiccup haddock walked quickly to his common room . Sure there were only a few students in school since it was early, but he had to be early if he wanted to avoid the bullies. "Those guys never come early " he thought.
There was no one in the common room except him and two others. Fishlegs ingerman and tuffnut thorston his two best friends. Fishlegs was the quiet nerdy one while tuffnut was loud and goofy one. Hiccup was the scrawny , sarcastic and sassy one ,who stood up for them even though he would just get beat up as well.
"Hey guys" he said as he took a seat behind them . fishlegs and tuffnut both sat in the front by the window , away from all the spitwards. Snotlout and his cronies could never shoot straight because of the breeze from the window. Fishlegs was busy finishing up his math homework and tuffnut was busy copying him.
"You know you should try once in a while to actually learn calculus " fishlegs spoke giving tuffnut an annoyed look.
"You won't be able to copy me during the test"
" don't worry , the universe always provides just like it's doing right now " tuffnut said as he craned his neck to see the note over fishlegs beefy arm .
First period finally rolled around and the students began to trickle in. The bullies, snotlout ,dagur and their cronies went to seat at the back. Dagur pushed roughly past hiccup on his way,causing the smaller boy to crush his elbow against his desk. Hiccup heard the bully snicker before heading to his seat.
Mr hoark. D haggard , their history teacher was at his desk searching thoroughly for his board marker. It was on top the white board , but nobody would tell him that. They enjoyed watching him suffer.while Mr haork was busy looking for his marker , the last few students came in.
Hiccup became anxious when he saw who was at the door. Astrid hofferson , she wasn't a bully but they weren't exactly friends either not anymore. She had suddenly stopped talking to him. He assumed it was because she was embarrassed of him.
As she watched her look around the class , he realized that the only seat left was the one next to him. 'Well this is gonna be awkward ' he thought as she sat down. She turned to him and their eyes met. They must have stayed like that for more than ten seconds before hiccup broke the connection by looking down . "h-hey"
"Hi" she gave him a small smile ,from the corner of his eye he could see tuffnut wiggling his eyebrows with a weird smirk before turning to face the Mr haork who had finally found his marker and was writing today's topic on the board.

Hiccup couldn't get out of that class fast enough - no he literally couldn't since Astrid grabbed his arm shortly after yelling
" hiccup wait ! "
Hiccup was getting a little annoyed , what did a guy have to do to make a clean getaway ?
"Did you need something ?" He asked trying to hide his embarrassment. He wondered if she was going to call him out on ignoring her .
"Can I sit at your lunch table today?, I - I feel like it's time we talked about us " Astrid said looking down at her boots . it was out of character for her to be nervous like this. His interest was peaked.
"Uuum .......sure ,that would be nice " he tried for a smile.

Lunch was super awkward,while tuffnut and fishlegs were bickering to themselves, hiccup and Astrid were busy picking at their food. Hiccup only began to talk when he felt sure that his friends were distracted.
"So um what did you want to talk about ?" Astrid put her fork down and turn in her seat to face him." I ....wanted to say that I'm sorry "
"For what ?"
"I don't know hiccup, we just suddenly stop hanging out ,ever since you started getting bullied "she said giving him an exasperated look. Hiccup really couldn't believe what he was hearing
" wait so you thought I was mad at you ? Why ?"
" you kept running off to hang out with your new friends and leaving me out of everything. I thought you were angry that I never stepped in to help you with the bullies "
Hiccup felt like someone had splashed him with cold water. He knew she was right, both of them had been friends since they were in kindergarten. He had never had male friends until he met tuffnut and fishlegs. He had gotten so carried away that he forgot all about her.
" Astrid I ....I'm so sorry, I never wanted to make you feel that way. I'm not mad at you I promise"
"Well " Astrid breathed " that's a relief , so um we're back to hanging out ?"
" in fact, we can all hangout after school, the boys and I were thinking of going to the arcade , wanna come ?" He offered with a goofy grin.
" sure it's been a while since I beat some idiot boys at their own game " she shot back provocatively.
" oh It's on" hiccup said and just like that they were back to how it used to be .
