Truth be told, Awsten is a hopeless romantic. He falls in love fast and he can't stop himself from creating scenarios in his head.
Yesterday, Awsten imagined Sunny in a white dress, walking down the aisle towards him. That's all he's thinking about today.
They've been dating for a little over a year now. It's been blissful for the most part. Besides the occasional fighting, it's been perfect. Everyone fights, though. That's what Awsten's told every time he seeks advice.
With only a week left of tour, Awsten knows what he needs to do. He books tickets for the day after tour. They'll be done in Houston. Usually Awsten will stay with his family for a few days, but Awsten really wants to get back to Sunny and propose.
He's sure she'll say yes. They've talked about it a lot before. Always ending with Sunny quite literally planning out the whole wedding. She goes on and on about different floral arrangements and all the possible colors. Truly, she's detail oriented in every way.
The perfect ring is going to take forever to find. He's not even sure what he wants. All Awsten knows is that she's his final destination. There's no one else that could ever even begin to compare to the fire that is Sunny Olsen.
His search for the perfect ring takes multiple days. He designs a few himself to see what feels like Sunny.
It takes him a while, but he finally comes up with something perfect. He sends it off to a jeweller in Houston. Awsten's promised it'll be perfect and ready in time for his arrival.
When the band lands in Houston, Awsten picks up the ring.
"It's beautiful, Aws. She's gonna love it," Geoff says, admiring the golden ring.
"I hope so. You think she'll say yes?"
"Duh. You two are fucking in love," Jawn assures.
Awsten smiles to himself, "Yeah, we are. I love her. I cannot wait to marry her one day."
Awsten stares at the ring sitting in his hands. He examines it carefully with a grin. The ring really is perfect. He can't wait to show it to Sunny.
He informs his mom on his plans. Ginny is immediately ecstatic, already started to plan out wedding gifts.
"So, are you two having kids anytime soon?" Ginny asks, a big smile on her face.
"God, Mom, no. Nothing like that any time soon. We have talked about it before, but, like, Sunny wants to wait until she's thirty. She wants to know she'll be able to support herself as well as a kid or two," Awsten explains, fiddling with the rings on his fingers. "I do want to have kids with her one day, though. She really is my everything, Mom."
"I know, dear. You two are so cute together. I'm happy you found someone as good for you as Sunny is. When are you both visiting again?"
"Uh, I'm pretty sure we'll be back here by February."
"Good. I'll be sure to have your engagement gifts by now."
"I haven't even propose yet," Awsten laughs. "I hope she'll say yes."
"How many times does everyone have to tell you, Awsten. Sunny is going to say yes. By the way, the ring you had made is gorgeous. She'll love it."
"Yeah, that's what I'm hoping."
After saying goodbye the next morning, Awsten's off to the airport to catch a flight to LA.
