                                      Lucas' pov:

      Today is the day. Game day. The truth is, my back has been hurting super bad these past few days. I wake up and see that Brooke is still asleep, so I rush to the living room to put a heating pad on my back. I don't want her to see, because I don't want her to worry. I will be fine for tonight. I get distracted watching tv as Brooke comes into the living room. "What's with the heating pad pretty boy?" She asks. "Oh nothing, putting it on just incase. I'm not in pain, I promise." I lie. "That's funny." She says. "What's funny?" I question with a confused look. "That you think after all this time I still can't tell when you're lying. Luke they can do one game without you." She answers, seeming worried about me. "Pretty girl, I'm gonna be fine. Please don't say anything to anyone. I don't want them to think I'm any less capable of playing tonight. Please Brooke." I beg. "Fine. But if it starts hurting you really bad tell Whitey and sit on the bench. I don't want you to be hurt Luke." She demands. "Okay, I promise if it starts hurting I will stop playing. I love you" I say. "I love you too Lucas Scott." She replies before we both go into the kitchen to make breakfast.
After we eat Brooke heads over to Haley's house to work on her project. I invite Nathan over. It's been a while since I've had quality time with my brother. When he gets here we sit down on the couch and talk. He suggests we go to the River Court to practice a little before the game tonight. As we practice I start to get a little sore. "Are you doing alright? You seem a bit out of shape right now." Nathan notices. "I'm not out of shape you ass. My back is hurting, but I'll be fine for tonight. Please just don't tell Whitey or Brooke." I beg. "Alright, I won't. But if your back starts hurting during the game-" I cut him off to finish his sentence. "I will sit down."  "Good." Nate says.
       When we are done at the River Court we both head back home. Brooke calls me and decides that we will meet up after the game. I start to get ready to head to school to practice before the game. When I get there most of my team is already there. A few minutes into practicing, Brooke walks in with her cheer team. I drop the basketball I was about to shoot and start to walk up to her. "Hey pretty girl." I say and give her a kiss. "Hey boyfriend. I missed you." She replies. "Brooke, you literally saw me this morning." I laugh. "Too long." She jokes and pulls me in for a hug and kiss. "Go practice. Do amazing tonight Lucas Scott." She smiles. "I will, for you." I answer and head back to the rest of the team. After about 30 minutes, the game begins.
A few minutes into the game and I'm doing great. I haven't missed a shot yet! I try to ignore any pain I am feeling in my back and continue to play. My team and I deserve to win. I keep playing, then suddenly I get this shooting pain in my back, causing me to feel dizzy. I freeze on the court. I feel like I can't walk. I take a step and immediately stop, now feeling shooting pain all across my back and begin to see the room spinning. Whitey shouts at me to sit. I start to walk to the bench super slowly, then I fall. Everything goes black.

Brooke's pov:

{Beginning of game}

The game begins and Lucas is doing great. He hasn't missed a shot yet! I hope he is not in any pain. The game continues until Lucas freezes on the court. He takes a step then immediately stops. Everyone in the crowd is sharing confused looks. Whitey shouts across the court at Lucas, telling him to sit. Lucas begins to walk to the bench slowly, then falls. He hits his head super hard on the floor. I run up to him. "Luke open your eyes! Please. Your gonna be ok." I cry. How does this all happen from a back pain? I knew I should have told Whitey. Everyone starts to run up to him and I see his mom start to call 911 while crying. I run up to her and hug her. Everything is happening so quickly.
A few minutes later the ambulance arrives. I try to get in with Karen and Lucas, but the driver tells me that only family can go on. "She is family. She will always be family. You let her on right now!" Karen demands. They let me go on and I sit next to Karen and comfort her. I try my best to keep myself together for Karen and Lucas. When we get there they take Lucas into a scanning room. Karen and I wait in the waiting room. About 1 hour and 30 minutes later, the doctor comes to us. "A mix of good and bad news. Nothing major, but Lucas did sprain his hip pretty badly. I'm gonna have to say no basketball for the rest of his season unless there is some major healing." I cut the doctor off. "What about his head? When he fell he hit his head." The doctor gives me a small smile. "I was just getting to that. Once again, not major. The pain from his back was so bad it caused him to get dizzy and fall. He has a small concussion, but that's all. He should be awake very soon. Feel free to wait here or go into his room. He is in room number 19." We thank him and head to his room. We wait for a few hours until I start drifting off to sleep. Only 20 minutes later I feel Karen start to shake me. I look around and see Lucas awake. "Hey sleepy head." He whispers. I start to tear up. "Hi Lucas Scott. You don't ever scare me like that again, okay?" He smiles at me and motions for me to go close to him. "Never again." He says and gives me a kiss. "So... what did they say about basketball?" He asks worriedly. "Not for the rest of the season, unless your hip heals perfectly." Karen says. He looks down. "I'm so sorry Luke." I say and grab his hand. He puts my hand up to his face and kisses it. "Don't apologize Brooke. I was the one who told you not to tell anyone about my back pain. It's my fault. And anyways, at least it's not something worse. It's only a sprain and a concussion. It's not like I'll never be able to play basketball again, just maybe not the rest of the season." He says. He has such a positive attitude. I really admire that about him. "You are amazing Lucas Scott, you know that?" I smile. "You are amazing Brooke Davis. Now please take me home so I can sleep in my comfortable bed with my beautiful girlfriend right next to me." He replies.
     Once we are able to leave, Lucas gets in the wheelchair they gave to him for when he feels like he needs it. I roll the wheelchair to the car. Karen drives back to the house. When we get there, we immediately get ready for bed. "Now if you need anything, you wake me up and tell me." I demand. "Okay, I promise I will." He answers. I lay down next to him and lightly cuddle up to him. "I love you Brooke Davis." He whispers. "I love you more Lucas Scott." I whisper back. And with that, we both fall asleep.
