Lucas' pov:
I'm on my way home right now. This weekend has been great. What Brooke doesn't know is that I bought her something. It's a promise ring. I plan on giving it to her tonight. I wanna make a promise to her that I will always be here and one day I am going to be putting an engagement ring on her finger. I'm at a stop light when I see a flipped over car with a bunch of police around it. When I turn closer to the car, I realize it looks like Brooke's car. I feel my heart start to beat rapidly. I pull over near the car and try to walk up to it. "You can't be here." One of the police say. "Do you know the name of the person who crashed?" I ask. "We are not sure of her last name, but in her car there are signs with the name Brooke all around it." I feel my heart stop beating. That's Brooke's car. I always laugh at her for having her name all around her car. "Where is she?" I ask panicking. They give me the name of the hospital and I speed over to it.
When I get there I run to the front desk. "Do you know where patient Brooke Davis is?" I ask. "She is getting x-rays right now. Who are you to this patient?" She questions. "I'm her boyfriend. My name is Lucas Scott." I say while shaking. "Okay stay calm. I will get one of her doctors. They will tell you everything that they know so far." I thank her and sit on one of the chairs in the waiting room. I put my head in my hands and cry. I should have stayed at her house. Wherever she was going to, I could have taken her. "Hello, are you Lucas Scott?" I lift my head up and see a doctor. "Yes I am." I reply. "I'm Brooke's doctor. She just got out of x-rays and is going to a surgery room right now. She is getting a vertebroplasty. That means we are going to repair any cracks she has in her bones. She has been unconscious since she got here, but she should be awake by tonight." I thank the doctor and think to myself. If she doesn't wake up, I will never feel happiness again. I need her. This shouldn't have happened. Brooke doesn't deserve this. I would do anything to trade places. I decide to call the group and tell them. After about 30 minutes, they all show up, even Peyton.
"Lucas what happened?" Haley asks as she sits in the chair next to me. I feel tears start to form in my eyes again. "I dropped Brooke off at her house and then went to the grocery store for my mom. On my way back to my house I saw a car flipped over. I got out, and it was Brooke's. I rushed over here as soon as I saw. She is in surgery right now, still unconscious." I cry. Haley hugs me. "She's gonna be okay Luke. She's Brooke Davis. She is the strongest person I know." She comforts me. Nathan sits in the other chair next to me. "That girl loves you so much Luke. She wouldn't leave us without telling you that first." Nathan says, also trying to comfort me. "This is all my fault. She was coming to get her wallet from school. Whitey wouldn't let me take it to her for legal reasons. I shouldn't have listened to him." Bevin says. "Bevin it's not your fault. You didn't know this was gonna happen." I answer. "She did look really tired on the bus. Do you think she fell asleep at the wheel or something?" Jake asks. "No. Brooke wouldn't drive if she was feeling really tired. That's just not her." I respond. "So no one told you how it happened?" Skills questions. "No not yet." I answer. "Did you call her parents?" Haley asks. "I know they aren't the best, but they should know about this." She adds on. "You're right. I'll be back." I say as I head off to the bathroom." When I get to the bathroom I collapse onto the floor and cry again. I just can't believe this. Nothing can happen to Brooke. It just can't.
Once I get myself together, I call Brooke's mom. "Hi Mrs. Davis. This is Lucas Scott." I say. "Hi Lucas. What do you want?" She asks in an annoyed tone. "Um.. Brooke got into a car accident. She's in surgery right now, but has been unconscious since it happened." I reply. "Oh my god! Is she gonna be okay?" She questions in a panicked tone. "I hope so." I answer honestly. "I'll be there by tonight. Thank you for calling me." And with that, she hangs up. That was the first time I've ever heard Brooke's mom panicked about something other than clothes or guys. She can play the bad guy, but I've always known that she cares about Brooke more than she shows. I head back out to the waiting room and tell them about the call with Brooke's mom. "It's good that she gonna show up." Peyton blurts out. "Yea." I respond. Since when has Peyton been nice? I bet Brooke wouldn't be happy that she is here. "Why are you here anyway? You've put Brooke through hell this whole year." I blurt out. I don't mean to be rude, but honestly, Peyton has been nothing but a bitch to Brooke. "Don't talk to her like that. She was with me when you called. She is here supporting you, so stop being a dick." Jake snaps as he grabs Peyton's hand. "You're right, I'm sorry. I'm just stressed out right now." I sigh as I put my head in my hands. I feel Tim pat me on the back. "It's all gonna be okay man. She's gonna wake up." He says. "Tim is right. I know how awful I've been to Brooke this year, but she always toughed it out and stuck up for herself. She is pretty dang strong if you ask me." Peyton adds on. "Thanks guys." I smile. We all sit in the waiting room and talk for a while. Well, they do most of the talking. I mostly just looked at the clock and waited for Brooke to get out of surgery. Oh and I worried, a lot. That was until I saw Brooke's doctor begin to walk up to us. "Hi everyone. I just wanted to inform you all that Brooke is now out of surgery. She is still unconscious, but we are hoping for her to wake up soon. You guys can go see her now. She is in room 3." I slightly smile when I hear the room number. 3 has always been my lucky number. Brooke always teased me because I think a number can bring luck, but if she wakes up anytime soon, she has to believe me about the number 3.
I quickly rush to the room, the others all following behind me. I get to room 3 and there she is. The most beautiful girl I know. She is laying down with her eyes shut. Even unconscious she still looks beautiful. I feel my eyes form tears once again. I go up to her and lightly kiss her forehead. Nathan puts a chair near her bed for me to sit in. I sit in the chair and hold onto her hand. "Hi pretty girl." I whisper as I pull her hand up to my lips and kiss it. We all sit here for about an hour, and no changes. What if I talk to her? I know she is unconscious, but maybe she can hear me. "I'm sorry Brooke. I left your house so quickly this morning. I could have drove you to the school. I can't believe this happened. I bought a promise ring for you. I was gonna give it to you tonight on our surprise date. But speaking of promises, I need you to promise me you're gonna wake up. I need you Brooke. I can't live without you. I can't be happy without you. You're my world Brooke Penelope Davis. I've missed your gorgeous face, but there is nothing more that I miss than your beautiful voice and amazing laugh. So please Brooke, open your eyes. I need to hear your laugh, and listen to your voice." Still Nothing. Just her laying with her eyes shut. I put my head down onto her bed as I cry. I feel Haley wrap her arms around me into a hug. I look at her and she has tears in her eyes. "That was beautiful Luke. I bet she heard every word, but even if she didn't she would have loved every single word you said. She is gonna wake up Lucas. Just give her some time." She says, letting go from the hug. Then we all hear a very low, raspy voice. "Yea just give it some time Broody boy. And about that promise ring, I wanna see it." We all turn and face Brooke. There she is, awake. "Hi pretty girl. I've been waiting for you." I smile as I feel tears of joy fill up my eyes. "I know you have, but did you really think I would leave you? Also I really need water." She says in between coughs. I put the water up to her mouth and she drinks it. "Come here broody boy." Brooke says as she motions for me to sit on the bed with her. I sit there and hug her. I cry once again. The last time I cried this much is when Keith died. I just couldn't loose another person in my life."Stop crying. I'm here Lucas, and I'm not leaving ever again. I promise."Brooke's pov:
I say hi to everyone else with Lucas still hugging me. I feel him crying into my chest as he holds me tight. I haven't seen him so torn up since Keith died. "We're all gonna go. We will be back in the morning." Haley says, trying to give me and Lucas some alone time. They all say bye and head back home. Now it's just me and Lucas. He is still gripped onto me, never letting go. "Lucas Scott look at me." I demand. He faces me and there are tears streaming down his face. I feel myself begin to cry. It warms my heart to see how much he cares. "Lucas I love you. I meant it when I said I'm never leaving you again. I want you to stop crying or you're gonna make me cry." I say as I wipe his tears. "I'm sorry. I just wasn't ready to loose you. I never will be." He replies. "Well that's good, cause I'm not going anywhere." I smile. "So when do I get to leave this place?" I question. Lucas laughs. "I don't know pretty girl. Maybe in a few days." He answers. "A few days? I'm gonna go insane." I whine. "Well I guess were both gonna go insane, cause I'm staying." He smiles. I give him a kiss. "I've missed that." I say. "Not as much as I have." He answers.
We sit and talk for a few hours until we hear a knock at the door. I look and see my mom. "Mom?" I say in a surprised tone. She looks like she has been crying. "Hi Brooke." She replies. "I'm gonna be waiting outside." Lucas says as he kisses me and walks out of the room. "Brooke, are you okay? I was worried sick about you." She cries. "I'm okay mom. How did you know about this?" I ask. "Lucas called me. He was so worried about you. I got the soonest plane ticket here that I could find." She says. "Oh." I answer. After that it's just awkward silence. "Brooke I'm sorry for everything. I want to be in your life again. I realized how awful of a mother I've been and I'm sorry. You are a beautiful, talented, and amazing girl. I want to stay for a while. I'm gonna stay in a hotel room around the house." She says, breaking the silence. "Why a hotel? You can stay with me mom." I reply. "You mean that?" She questions. "Yes, I mean that." I smile. She smiles back at me. I hesitate then put my arms out. She looks at me with a confused look. "Come hug me mom." I demand. She gets up from the seat and we hug. I feel tears form in my eyes. "I love you mom, even if you haven't been the best. You're still my mom." I say while crying. "I love you too Brooke. I'm sorry for everything." She apologizes again. "I forgive you." I answer. When we let go we both have tears in our eyes. "I'm gonna go get everything packed into the house. I'll be back in the morning." She says. We say our goodbyes and she leaves. Lucas walks back in.
"How'd everything go?" He asks. "Really good." I answer. "Good." He smiles. "It would be even better if I ate though, I'm starving." I say. "Okay, I'll go to the cafeteria and get food. I'll be right back." He gets the food and comes directly back to the room. He sits back next to me in the bed and we eat. "Guess what." Lucas says. "What?" I ask. "This room number is 3." He responds. "Well I guess it really is a lucky number." I say, smiling at him. And with that we talk, eat, and cuddle for the rest of the night until we fall asleep. I'm so glad I stayed alive for moments like these.(I feel like this chapter is super crappy but whatever)
