Chapter 2

Zoe

To be honest, I didn't expect the boy to be one of the first ones prepared. I grinned at Atlanta who handed me a drachma. Percy gave us a questioning look before shrugging it off and walking over to Peleus the Dragon that guards the Golden Fleece around a tree that Thalia used to be. Bianca came in next and soon after her, Thalia. "Alright guys! Get in the car." I shouted and walked over to the van Argus had. I grabbed the keys out of his hands and despite not having a face and more than half his eyes hidden in clothes. I could see that he was glaring at me. I entered the van and readied the engine. Phoebe got a shotgun, and Atlanta, Thalia, and Bianca got the back. "Where's Percy?" Thalia asked, looking around wildly, I snorted and Phoebe said the thoughts in my head, "Like we need that boy." Suddenly a black shadow appeared over us and we turned to the left to see Percy sitting on a pegasi that's made of water. "I'll stay over here! I don't want to get incinerated." He yelled to us, around 20 feet away. Phoebe shouted back, "Good, and stay away!" Percy just leaned in and whispered into the pegasus' ear, it was a beautiful stallion. It was pure black, kind of like my wolf, Midnight in the hunt. I started driving away and heard Thalia mutter, "You're going to get us arrested." Atlanta snapped back, "She's been driving since automobiles were invented." Thalia scoffed, "I look more 16 than she does." Atlanta just sat back, growling out of the window. I just kept driving, not even acknowledging the conversation between the girls. It was basically a girl trip with a boy flying at least 100 feet away from the back of the van. I gotta respect that. I lifted a hand up to my hair and felt the hair pin, Riptide. It's been so long since I held it. Phoebe leaned and whispered, "2 millinena and now you have it." I nodded at that and put it back in my hair, "I need to train with it." Phoebe nodded and leaned back into her seat. I drove and drove, "Phoebe, where do they think we should go?" Phoebe answered, "Washington D.C, that's where we should be going." I nodded and kept driving for hours. Soon we entered Washington D.C and Phoebe pointed to a museum. "We should head there, look around for anything, check the track again, and leave." I nodded and we all walked in. It was a massive museum, so we headed to an exhibit and walked through it. "Woah." is all that Bianca has said so far. I just shook my head but we kept walking throughout the exhibit. Soon after we saw Percy, he was roughly a good 20 feet from us. He was panting back and yelled, "General and someone called Luke are here!" Thalia stiffened at the name, "They spawned in Sparti, they got my scent, we need to get out of here." I still looked shocked, "The general is here? Thee lie!" I yelled, hopefully thinking of how to get out. Percy just merely said, "You can't lie when the ground opens up and part of your shirt is torn up." I just shook my head and we heard a yell, "Kitty!" I turned around to see a lion, "The Nemean Lion!" Thalia yelled, I pulled out my bow and jumped on top of the nearest exhibit. Phoebe and Atlanta joined after. Bianca jumped onto a different exhibit but pulled out a pure black bow. She pulled the string and an arrow appeared and she fired. I started to get out of my shock and fire at the lion. Percy was playing tip toes on the high of your toes. The Lion of Percy circled each other before attacking once again. Percy tried to stab at the lion, but the lion just slapped Percy's sword away. He pulled out another one out of thin air and managed to stab it into the Lion. Once it made contact with it's fur, Percy's sword made sparks. Percy slowly stepped back until he couldn't step back anymore. The lion slowly stepped forward and pounced. "Percy!" Bianca shouted and Thalia was trying her best to get to the lion. Percy turned around and jumped over the floor onto the bottom floor. He landed on top of an exhibit and I rushed forward and jumped on top of another one. Phoebe and Atlanta's arrows weren't doing anything. My arrows or Bianca's wouldn't do anything. The lion roared and Percy's eyes widened. He threw his sword straight at the lion's eyes, knocking it back a step or 2. "You Idiot Kelp Head!" Thalia shouted and raised her spear. Percy pulled out a spear out of thin air, how does he do this? Percy charged and the Lion pounced at him. Percy raised his spear and threw it straight into the Lion's mouth. The Lion's eyes widened and so did all of ours. The lion started choking before falling over, limp. Percy picked up his spear and it disappeared when he tapped the tip of it. Percy stepped back at least 40 steps, leaving the Lion's coat there. We all stood there shocked. Percy frowned, "You guys going to get it? The Sparti are coming soon!" I shook my head and looked at Phoebe, she shook her head too. I looked at Atlanta and she shook her head. No one wants whatever he has. Percy frowned, "Someone just get it! We don't have all day." Bianca just rushed forward and grabbed it. Percy smiled but it wavered, "Get to the van! Sparti!" Bianca quickly pulled the coat over herself and we all ran back to the van. I quickly shoved the door open and hopped in, the rest of the group following in suit. I got the keys ready and drove off. "What about Percy?" Thalia practically yelled, "He's going to follow us," I said. Thalia nodded and we drove through a tunnel. "There! Turn left." Bianca yelled and I nodded. If Bianca has been here before, she knows her way around. I drove to the left and we entered a subway. We hopped out and ran into the subway. We all sighed. I looked around and saw a fireplace with an old man around it. "C'mon! It's to share, it's cold tonight you know?" He yelled over to us. We just walked over and got warm in the fire. "T--thanks sir." The man just nodded, "What do we do about Percy?" Bianca asked. Soon we heard hoof steps and saw the black Pegasus enter the subway. Percy hopped off and started to have a conversation with the horse. He won and the horse soon just walked away and flew away. Percy just sat there, about 10 feet away. I frowned, he's taking the oath way too seriously. "He's taking the oath too seriously." Thalia whispered. Phoebe just glared at her, "I know, you know I kinda want him to come over so he can just disintegrate into thin air." Bianca glared at her, "This is one of the reasons I don't want to join the hunt!" I glared at Bianca, "What is it?" Bianca just crossed her arms, "You judge people based on their gender. You don't know how good Percy is. He literally defeated the Nemean Lion, gave us the pelt, held of the Sparti. What does he need to do? Defeat all the monsters on the planet?" Atlanta choked on her spit, "There are no good men. All of them are pigs." We turned to Percy who had a fire circling around him. "How does he do that?" I whispered. Bianca just grinned, "If you ever listened, he is the Son of Poseidon, Champion of Hades and Hestia!" We all just stared at her in shock. "He's not the champion of Hestia." I said, Bianca just laughed, "Can't you see? The outline of his eyes are orange-red and black, surrounding his sea green eyes. How can he control the fire and not burn him alive? Also can't you just feel that his mere presence gets us calm?" She ran on. I just stared at her, "There's no way, Hestia, would make a male her champion!" Bianca just scoffed, "I dunno why she did it, but she did along with Hades. That's how he wields Stygian Irons swords and spears." I just stared at her. Phoebe finally started talking, "There's no way his sword and spear is Stygian Iron." Bianca stared at her, "His swords are 100% pure Stygian Iron, and his spear tip is 50% celestial bronze and 50% Stygian Iron." We turned back to Percy who is making horses out of fire, galloping around himself. He kept looking around as if he was keeping a lookout. The fire gave enough light for me to see his eyes and I nearly choked. His eyes were sea green but it also had that red-orange outline and black outline as well. Atlanta muttered, "There's no way." However Bianca said, "Yes there is a way" She stated proudly. I looked at her, "You like him." Her cheeks grew red and she said, "I do not!" Thalia just stared at her, "It's pretty obvious." Her cheeks went even more red and Thalia stifled a laugh. That's when Percy started talking, "Sun West Trains. Fred gave us tickets! Come on." He jumped into a train and we looked at each other. "Fred." Bianca said. "Fred." I confirmed. She rolled her eyes but jumped into the train too. I just sighed and followed her. After a few minutes, Atlanta and Phoebe reluctantly did so, we walked into a huge array of cars. In the middle of the room, there was a picnic blanket and on a plate was a bunch of sandwiches, and drinks. I looked around and saw the most expensive cars in the world parked and I saw Percy sitting in the corner. Playing with the fire and water elements, making them crash into each other. He's so much like a kid it's funny. But once he gets serious, he's a natural born leader. I walked over to the picnic and sat down reluctantly. The others followed suit. Bianca sat there, happily munching on a sandwich. I grabbed one and studied it, I must've been studying it too intensely because Bianca started laughing, "It's...not poisoned." she says in between laughs. I just took a bite of it and it tasted like one of my sister's sandwiches. During that time, everyone loved her, she was probably the best cook in the whole hunt. However during one of our hunts, she was killed by a pack of hellhounds, who tackled her as she was on border patrol. I started eating the sandwich, soon Atlanta and Phoebe tasted it, "How..." I muttered. "It tastes perfect." I continued eating it. I saw Bianca stand up and walk over to Percy. She sat beside him and they started talking to each other. I started to finish up the sandwiches. After my third one I stood up and headed over to one of the cars. I managed to pry it open and I hopped into the driver's seat and laid there. Phoebe hopped into the shotgun seat while Atlanta had the whole back to herself. "What do you think about the prophecy," Atlanta said, breaking through the silence. Phoebe started talking, "It looks like the 6 are Zoe, me, and Atlanta for the Hunters and Bianca, Thalia and Percy for the campers." I nodded, "So that means Artemis must be the goddess in chains, thank goodness we got 2 off the lines done." Phoebe nodded, "But what about, one shall learn their full power in the land without rain?" Atlanta spoke up, "So we have to find the land without rain." Phoebe nodded, "But what about the last three... It seems like Artemis is holding up the sky." Atlanta and I gasped. "But the last 2, The single soldier siege, the dead follow their liege. Do you think...that only one of us would make it? Also it was most likely Percy since he's the only one with Hades' power. So he must have the power to summon the dead. Right?" I just shook my head, "Let's get to that later, so only one of us may make it, or we will have to split up?" Phoebe nodded, deep into thought, "Let's just hope it's that we have to split up, I can deal with some time without the boy. He's just a burden we have to carry." Atlanta said. We nodded and Atlanta fell asleep. Phoebe looked at me, "Let's hope it's that we split up. Most likely it is Percy since he is the only one who can summon the dead. However Bianca is still undetermined." I nodded. Phoebe leaned back into her seat and fell asleep. I looked at the 2 sleeping hunters and looked around. Thalia was currently sleeping in her car while Bianca was sleeping on Percy. Percy kept playing with his powers, creating chariots, water vs fire, and smashing them against each other. I leaned back into my chair and fell asleep.
