Chapter 3

Percy

"Bianca! Nico! Come on! We are heading to Goode high school." Bianca and Nico ran towards me, "Thank goodness for Paul!" Bianca says, out of breath. I looked over to the school and saw 2 kids at the doorway. One of them had brown eyes, they had a sparkle in them that could spark joy, however mine could just spark joy, it doesn't need to sparkle. No no, I'm not bragging. Well. That...nevermind. He had brown hair and he was about 5 "9. He was lean and well built except Percy already knows he doesn't really trian out, he doesn't have muscles but he is in a good shape. The girl beside him is probably his friend, she has red hair that goes to the middle of her spine while her hair is all crazy around the place. The boy's hair isn't much better. She has freckles around her face and she has green eyes, emerald green eyes while the boy has brown eyes, bright soil brown eyes. "Psst...Grover!" I turned towards Grover to see him staring out the window, sniffing. "What's up?" Grover muttered, "Monsters are nearby and also a demigod." I nodded and turned towards Bianca and Nico, "There are monsters here and a demigod, prepare." Nico groaned, a typical 12 year old, his birthday is coming in 6 days. "Can't we just have some time alone? My birthday is in 6 days, then I will become a teenager!" He says excitedly. Bianca rolled her eyes and smiled. "C'mon birthday boy, let's get this over with." Nico nodded and the 4 of us left the car. "Grover, tell me when you find the demigod." I whisper, Grover nodded and we walked up to where those 2 kids were speaking to Paul. "Paul! Oh...I mean... Mr. Blofis." I said. The other 2 kids turned to us and Grover visibly stiffened. "The boy is the demigod and the girl is a mortal, a clear sighted one." Grover whispered to me. The boy stepped forward, "My name is Lucas Cash. This is my friend, Rachel Dare." The girl stepped forward right beside the boy, so close that the boy started to blush. Nico decided to tease them, "You 2 lovebirds gonna lead us to the orientation?" They both blushed and the boy stuttered, "y--yeah..." He says awkwardly. An awkward silence enveloped the group. Paul cleared his throat, "Now now. Lucas, Rachel, lead the way." Lucas and Rachel turned around and Lucas started to tour them around, occasionally saying the rooms and which class is in it. Rachel kept staring at him and I walked up beside her. "Got a crush?" Rachel started blushing crimson. I just grinned at her before walking back to Bianca. "They like each other." I whisper, "But they don't have the guts to tell each other." Bianca looked at me, "I know, I already know someone who doesn't have the guts to ask someone out." I just looked at her and we walked around. I whisper to Grover, "This is definitely the demigod, most likely a Son of Demeter. Who are the monsters though?" Grover shook his head and pinched the edge of his nose, "So far, no one is a monster." He says. Lucas finally entered the gym and it was massive. It was a huge rectangle, there were basketball goals that were put upwards, a track around the basketball field, and dozens of bleachers that were set up on the edge of the gym. Lucas led us to a bleacher and we all sat down in it. I made a silent conversation with my eyes with Bianca, Nico, and Grover and they nodded. We sat down, but made sure to make Rachel and Lucas sit next to each other. Grover snickered at the sight of 2 blushing kids sitting beside each other. The boy started to breathe in and the blush from his face soon disappeared. 2 cheerleaders started to walk towards the middle and Grover nearly jumped. "Those are the monsters." He whispered to us. I nodded and disappeared in a shadow. Leaving 2 confused demigods and mortals. I appeared once again on the top of the gym, kneeling down on the beams. I pulled on my necklace and a bow appeared, a 3 foot long shortbow. I slowly pulled the bowstring back and the arrow appeared in it. A pitch black arrow, the mortals would most likely see something utterly terrifying but I kept myself concealed into the shadows. Only children of Hades could see me in the shadows at that point. I looked over to see Lucas and Rachel staring at the spot I disappeared. I can literally hear their brains start to process what just happened. I aimed the bow slowly at the first monster in a cheerleader outfit. "Welcome everyone to Goode High School! My name is Ariande and she" Ariande pointed to the other monster, "Is my friend Kelli!" Kelli stepped forward, "Hello kids! I a-" the arrow silenced her, she fell onto the ground and I shot more arrows, she disappeared in golden dust. Everyone stared in shock at it, no doubt they thought there was a shooter in the building. Suddenly everyone screamed and in the confusion i shot the arrows at the other monster that was looking at the spot her colleague was. She went down in golden dust and I reappeared from the shadows in front of the others. The boy, Lucas, stood up, "What was that?" he said to me, completely confused. I looked over to him, "You know Greek Mythology? Well it's real, and right now those 2 cheerleaders were monsters." Lucas looked confused before realization dawned on his face, "So that's why a man was stalking me on the playground. I swear he had a single eye." I nodded at him, "So I'm a demigod?" He asks and Rachel stood up, "How come everyone else doesn't see that?" she asked and I replied, "There is a veil that hides the mythology world from the mortal world. The mortals probably think that there is a shooter somewhere in here." Rachel asks again, "But both my parents are mortal?" I looked at her, "You are a clear sighted mortal. You guys are pretty rare in this world." She nodded and Lucas said, "So my mother is a god?" I nodded at him and he asked, "Which one is it?" I looked at him and back at Grover, "You're mom is most likely Demeter based on your looks." Lucas nodded at this. "So what do we do now?" he asked. "You sound so much like Nico." I muttered and he looked confused. "Oh, my name is Percy Jackson, I'm a son of Poseidon and Champion of Hades and Hestia. She is Bianca Di Angelo and her little brother is Nico Di Angelo, they are children of Hades. Grover over there is a satyr. You will need to come with us to the only safe place in this world for people like us." Lucas nodded and turned to Rachel and back to me, "Can Rachel come?" he asked and I thought for a moment. Mortals can't go through the border. "She can't come, sorry." I said and Lucas took a step back, "If she isn't coming, I won't come." I looked at him, "What?" Lucas looked back at me, "I said if Rachel can't come, I won't come." I sighed, "Fine, she can come." Lucas smiled and subconsciously grabbed Rachel's hand. "Let's go! Let's go!" Lucas said and I nodded. I grabbed his shoulder and grabbed Bianca's hand, she grabbed Nico's and Nico grabbed Grover's. I concentrated and the shadows soon engulfed us and we fell into the middle of the pavilion. As soon as we entered a glow appeared over Lucas. It glowed green with seeds and a plant on it. Chiron stepped forward, "All Hail..." Lucas said, "Lucas Cash." Chiron nodded and continued, "All Hail Lucas Cash, Son of Demeter goddess of agriculture." Everyone kneeled in front of him and he looked self conscious. "Uhh...don't kneel to me!" he screams and everyone snickered or laughed hysterically, the Stolls were them. Lucas realized that he was still holding Rachel's hand and their fingers intertwined subconsciously, he pulled his hand away, fighting away the blush while Rachel's face was completely red to the point where her red frizzy hair is pink compared to her face. Lucas was better though, he fought against the blush and won. "Hello! My name is Lucas Cash, this is my friend, Rachel. She is a clear sighted mortal is what Percy called her." I nodded and he continued, "Where are we going to stay?" Katie Gardener, Daughter of Demeter stepped towards him, earning a scowl from Rachel. The Aphrodite cabin all burst into murmurs at this. "My name is Katie Gardener, Daughter of Demeter or half-sibling." Rachel's expression softened and more murmurs appeared. "Luchel!" someone from the Aphrodite cabin screamed. Everyone turned towards her. She blushed and sat back down, trying not to be embarrassed. Thank goodness Lucas and Rachel didn't know what she was saying about something like a 'Ship.' Like Beckendorf and Silena finally got together during February, the Aphrodite cabin all screamed "Beckena!" Whenever Bianca and I sit together they murmur about, "Peranca." Now it was "Luchel" for Lucas and Rachel. I rolled my eyes and smiled. Katie leads Lucas and Rachel onto a tour. I turned towards Bianca, "I'll go and practice, see you later!" Bianca nodded and I ran off towards the arena. I remember beating Theo here and taking the title of Counselor of the Poseidon Cabin. Whenever he gets annoying, I just put him on trash patrol to where he has to pick up the trash he gets. The only way he can defy my orders is when he is requested by Chiron or another head counselor, which none of them wants to. I walked to the arena to clear my head when I saw a hellhound, the size of a pickup truck. My eyes widened as I pressed the gem on top of my 2 rings, they each turned into a 3 foot long Stygian Iron sword, Techno and Maelstrom. I watched the hellhound tear up a random dummy and I charged forward. I tried to stab it but a sword blocked my strike. I instinctively started to attack the figure but the figure blocked each of my strikes. I narrowed my eyes to the figure, he had gray here and normal clothes, he blocked each of my strikes before disarming me. I gasped and said, "Who are you?" He looked at me before relaxing, "My name is Quintus, I am a demigod and this is my pet, Mrs O' Leary." The dog barked at the name, "You're a demigod?" I ask him and Quintus chuckled, "Not all demigods are in the middle of a war. Some do make it to an old age. I am currently the swordmaster trainer." I nodded at him and smiled. "So...this hellhound is your pet?" Quintus nodded at me and I looked at Mrs O' Leary. She looks like a puppy if she wasn't at least 8 feet long and 6 feet tall. Quintus picked up a shield and said, "Go get it girl! Go get it!" He said and threw the shield like a frisbee. Mrs O' Leary jumped up and chased after it. I looked at Quintus and he nodded. We started to spar with each other, I was dual wielding against him but he still is beating me with a single sword. I soon saw someone else run up to us, it was Lucas. "Hey Perce! Where can I get a sword like that?" I looked at Quintus and he shrugged, "Come over here young one." Lucas nodded and followed Quintus into the weapons area. I watched them from afar until someone stepped beside me, "He seems pretty nice." Bianca said as she looked at the weapons building. I tried to keep the jealousy out of my voice and said, "Yep. He is nice." Bianca looked at me and smiled and she pulled out her sword she named 'GemNight.' She started to attack me and I started to block her strikes. I was trying less hard to beat her which was easy because I was out of energy from sparring with Quintus when he hadn't even broken a sweat. Bianca kept trying to stab me and I kept having to block her attacks, that's when I went on the offensive, catching Bianca off guard and attacking her. She blocked as many strikes as she could but I didn't try to hurt her. She snarled and tried a thrust, I parried and disarmed her and put my sword against her neck while the other one was defending my body. "Yield?" Bianca nodded, "I yield." I smiled and pulled my sword back, she grabbed her sword again and I started to teach her some moves until Lucas finally came over with a sword in his hand. "It doesn't feel balanced, none of the swords do." Lucas said and I raised an eyebrow. "This is the only sword that feels at the very least, close to balanced." I nodded and I went to spar with him. He was a natural at swordsmanship, he blocked most of my strikes and my eyes narrowed. I started to attack him full on and he kept blocking and striking back. However since I have 2 swords I attacked him with both. He started walking back, then he charged me. I didn't expect this so he started to attack me once again. I stepped into his guard, forcing him back but it was already too late. I slammed his sword out of his grip and put one sword under his chin, having a triumphant smirk on my face. "Yield?" Lucas looked at me before slamming into the ground and kicking my feet from under me. I fell down onto the ground and rolled to the side of his strike. It hit the ground and suddenly vines started to grow out of nowhere, they just grew from the floor and the vines, around 5 feet in diameter, started to surround me. I quickly burst into fires melting some vines but not all. I cursed under my breath and increased the flame temperature. The vines started to melt but more and more came towards me until they all stopped. I stood there catching my breath, I looked around me to see an unconscious Lucas. I smirked at him, but my smile faded. His vines were still there but they were 5 feet in diameter. No one since a few centuries ago can create vines this thick. Huh. He must be a powerful son of Demeter. No worries however. I grabbed him and picked him up. I walked over to the Demeter cabin and just put him in his bed. I left the cabin and walked over to the new arrays of cabins. There were at least a dozen more cabins and a dozen more tables. I literally got mauled by campers as they got what they wanted. I walked over to the Hades cabin and walked inside. I saw Nico inside of it, "Hey Nico!" I said and he turned around, "Hey Perce!" I walked over to him to see him writing in a notebook. "A got a diary?" Nico looked at the book and blushed, "Umm...w--well yes!" I nodded at him and picked him up, "C'mon, it's time for dinner, after that Quintus got a new game we could play instead of capture the flag!" I said cheerfully, "You were banned from capture the flag!" I pouted at him, "It's so unfair!" Nico shook his head and smiled, "Come on, I'm hungry my future brother-in-law." I looked at him and realized what he meant, "Uhhh...O--ok." I said with my eyes wide. I left the cabin with Nico on my back and we headed towards the pavilion. We entered it and saw Rachel sitting at the head table with Chiron, and Mr. D. I walked over to my table and sat down. I looked over to Rachel and saw her stealing glances at Lucas. I don't blame her, if he is in a good mood, his sight gives you happiness. I saw him talking with his new half-siblings but I could tell he's disappointed that Rachel isn't there. We all soon got up, and headed over to the fire and started to give burnt offerings, "Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter, and Aphrodite." I cringed at the last one, "Help everyone be able to get with their loved ones and get out of this war." I muttered and left back to my table. I have also noticed Annabeth trying to flirt with me but I pretended to be oblivious to her flirting. I walked back to my table after dealing with Annabeth touching me, ugh. I finished my meal and walked back over to my cabin. I found Theo there, carelessly throwing trash onto the ground. I growled at him, "Garbage Patrol again sir." Theo looked up at me and scowled, but he stayed silent. He started to clean up the trash and I walked into my room and laid on the couch where Bianca laid and slept before she moved to the Hades cabin. I grumbled something about stupid brothers when I heard some shouts. I groaned, I couldn't even get an hour break. I ran out of my cabin and ran towards the crowd. Quintus was there and he was trying to calm everyone down. He finally had enough of it and stomped his foot onto the ground, the entire camp grew silent, all 120 kids. "There is a new minigame! Instead of Capture the Flag this one is going to be exciting!" groans were heard from across the crowd. "Alright! Ok! There are currently 6 scorpions the size of cars around this forest! Each one of them has a bag but only one of then has something golden inside of the bag. Your goal is to get that bag from behind the scorpion's tail, after you cut off its tail, its tail would disappear and a bag would appear, the scorpion won't be able to hurt you because its tail is the weapon. Cut it, it loses its weapon and becomes defenseless." Everyone was intent on watching, "Alright, you would be in teams of 2 a-" instantly everyone surged forward, grabbing their buddies but Quintus interrupted, "SILENCE! I have already picked the teams!" Groans can be heard. He started calling people off by name, "Clarisse and Lee Fletcher," warrior and archer. "Beckendorf and Silena," which they looked happy about. "The Stolls," obviously, they do everything together. "Lucas and Rachel," they looked happy about that. "Nico and Annabeth," both of them didn't look happy. "Percy and Bianca!" I grinned at her and she just punched my arm playfully, I didn't pull back like when I did by Annabeth, which got a jealous glare towards Bianca. "Go throughout the forests! Try and come back in one piece!" I ran through the forests and started to run faster with Bianca on my trail. "Bianca, can you sense things in the darkness?" She shook her head, "I can only see through the dark." I nodded and stopped. "Go ahead, I'll follow." She smiled and ran off into the forest and I chased her. After an hour of searching we finally made it to Zeus' fist. I sighed and started walking around. Suddenly I heard a loud Poof! I turned around, my swords already drawn but it was just Juniper, Grover's girlfriend. "Woah! How did you get here?" I asked and she rolled her eyes, "I live here." I looked around, "In the rocks?" She pointed to a Juniper, "In the Juniper. Duh," I suddenly felt dum and Bianca started laughing. "What do you need?" I asked and she motioned for us to follow her. She led us around the rock until she pointed to a crack in it. "What's that?" I asked and she shook her head, "Luke came over here and disappeared in the entrance. It leads to the Labyrinth." My eyes widened, "We need to tell Chiron." I said and I grabbed Bianca's hand and ran out of the forests. In the corner of my eye I started to see vines fly past us. "What was that!" Bianca yelled and I looked at her, "Lucas is doing that!'' She looked surprised but nodded and we ran out of the forest. I ran towards Chiron and said, "Bianca and I found the Labyrinth entrance. In. Camp." Chiron looked at me, surprised. He nodded grimly. Soon a horn sounded and the campers all filed out of line. The winners were Clarisse and Lee Fletcher. None surprised there. Chiron called out, "Counselor meeting in the arena!" The counselors looked at each other, questioningly and I yelled out, "Lucas and Rachel come with us too. Along with Bianca." They nodded and soon the counselors ran towards the arena. Once we were settled Beckendorf asked the question of the day, "What do you need?" Chiron looked at me and nodded. I started to tell them how we found the Labyrinth entrance. "So if they find their way throughout it, they could attack the camp from the heart." The counselors gave each other worried looks. "So we need to find Deadalus." Annabeth spoke up. We all looked at her, "We need to find him, he has Ariadne's string, if we can convince him not to give the TItan army the string, we win." I nodded, "I think Percy should receive this quest." Lucas said. I looked at him and nodded gravely. I stood up and walked up to the attic. I walked in and passed multiple possessions the camp received. I stopped in front of the Oracle, this is the first time I actually entered the attic. I said, "How do I travel through the Labyrinth?" I spoke and the oracle opened its mouth.
