Chapter 5

Lucas

I carried Rachel bridal-style towards the beach. She smiled at me and I just stared at her before she smirked, "Checking me out?" I blushed but I finished carrying her to the beach and put her down. She sat down and pulled me to where I sat beside her. "So..." I started but it was pretty awkward. Over the past summer we have been doing raids and trying to get demigods but most of those raids never were successful. "This summer been hard." I kept going. "The war is coming soon, Lucas. I'm just...worried." Rachel says and stared into the ocean. I leaned back onto the sand and lifted some up, letting it fall down through my fingers, "Yeah. The final battle is coming soon. In a week Percy is turning 16, just in time for the prophecy." Rachel stared into the water and sighed, "How did you like your first year of being a demigod?" I asked and she smiled sadly, "It's been wonderful! I finally don't have to be treated as an outcast." I held my hand above hers and we just stared into the water. "You sure you'll be safe?" Rachel asks, suspicion in her voice and I laughed. "As long as you're safe." she frowned but I soon heard the horn. I sighed, "It's time." Rachel looked to the ground sadly and I squeezed her hand, "I'll be careful." I stood up and brushed myself off and Rachel also stood up. I was at least 3 inches taller than her with her being 5 7" and me being 5 "10. I hugged her as she buried her head into my chest and she melted into my embrace and sighed. "I'll see you later, K'ay? Bye!" I ran towards the pavilion leaving a staring Rachel with her arms crossed and staring at the ground sadly. I soon entered the pavilion and walked over to where Percy and Beckendorf were packed up and ready. Beckendorf carried a backpack full of explosives and the detonator while Percy just looked normal with all the jewelry that turns into weapons. All I had was 2 rings on each of my fingers that turned into dual hunting knives and Dentro in it's bracelet form on my right hand. "Ready?" I ask and Beckendorf nodded while Percy stared at Bianca. "Perce! Snap out of it!" I said, waving my hand in front of his face before slapping him. His face went to the side and Beckendorf laughed. "Come on!" I said and Percy whistled a new york cab. Soon 3 pegasi appeared. One being pitched black, no doubt Blackjack. The other being brown, Guido. The last one being a mix between brown, white, and black, Porkpie. "Guys! We need a ride to Princess Andromeda! Can you take us?" I knew that Percy can talk horse so I just waited, "Yes yes. I will give you donuts once we are done." The horses nodded eagerly and Percy grinned. He hopped onto Blackjack, I hopped onto Porkpie. Beckendorf hopped onto Guido. "Go!" Percy shouted and the horses in unison shot towards the sky and made their way to the ocean. I turned around to see Rachel looking up. I just smiled at her and it looks like she is glaring at me, well trying to. I turned towards the front and Percy nodded, "So once we are done with the explosives, Percy shadow travels us to the beach and we can watch the explosion." I nodded and muttered, "We can use some good luck, but when did the Fates ever get us good luck." Percy nodded at my statement while Beckendorf just stared at the sea below us. I put my hand on his shoulder, "We would get this mission and it would be successful. Trust me on this Beck. You'll see Silena after this, you can make out," Beckendorf blushed, "Get into the final battle, and live a happy life with Silena." Beckendorf nodded but I can still see the worry in his eyes. I sighed and looked at Percy who is just gazing off, his eyes unfocused. Soon I saw the ship, "The ship is here guys." I spoke and Percy got out of his trance and Beckendorf was staring down at it. "Dive!" Percy whispered harshly and soon all 3 pegasi tucked in their wings in unison and dove straight down. The wind whistled past my ears and I stifled in a scream as we plummeted downwards. We soon made it down from 500 feet to 1 foot in 5 seconds. The horses landed and I hopped off Pork Pie, I was winded. Beckendorf hopped off Guido, he looked better than me. Lucky him. Unlucky me, I sighed as Percy talked to the horses, "Go now. Don't get seen. Go to Camp and I will be there soon. Yes yes. I already got the donuts but you need to finish the mission. Stop being stubborn." After an argument Percy had with the horses, they eventually left and Percy turned towards us. "You guys ready now?" We both nodded and soon we entered the ship. "I smell demigod!" A voice scowled but another voice spoke, "Of course you do! There are demigods all over this ship you moron!" I stifled a laugh and turned towards the others. Beckendorf was smiling while Percy was smirking. We snuck past through the ship with Percy controlling the shadows and we made it to the engine room. I stepped right behind a telekhine and its head went straight up. It started sniffing the air but before it could move I activated Dentro and the beast turned to dust. "Let's do this quick!" I whispered and Beckendorf tossed us Greek fire and duct tape, "Strap that into the engine. Quick." The 3 of us started working until we started to hear footsteps. "I'll go distract them, once they are distracted I'll shadow travel here and shadow travel you guys to camp. Go!" Percy said and jumped out of the door. Beckendorf just nodded at me and we continued strapping in pieces. "Beckendorf, just a few more and we're done." Beckendorf muttered, trying to reassure himself. "We're going to be fine." I said to Beckendorf and he just nodded and we continued. Soon I started to hear more footsteps coming and I turned around in a flash and my sword Dentro prepared in my hands. "I'll hold them off, finish!" I said and Beckendorf nodded as I ran out of the door. I ran straight into 2 cyclops and Ethan. "Uhhh... This is awkward." I spoke and Ethan just glared at me. "Capture him!" He yelled and the 2 cyclops charged me. I stabbed the hand off of one and stabbed it into the groin. I rolled to the side with Dentro pulled out of the Cyclops gut and he disappeared. The other one charged me but I charged it. I ducked and dived under its legs and cut its legs off. It stumbled forward and I stabbed it into the back and pulled my sword from it. The cyclops disappeared in golden dust and I turned lastly to the Son of Nemesis. I held my sword in front of him and he unsheathed his sword. A duel. We started to circle each other as more and more monsters stepped forward. My eyes widened and I suddenly charged him. He blocked my first strike and tried to step closer to me but I stepped backwards, parried his attack and stepped forward with a thrust. He blocked, "Nakamura! Get those demigods!" I heard a voice yell and I stiffened. That voice sounded ancient and powerful but evil. Ethan just glared at me and charged once again but I blocked his strike. "Well what are you waiting for! Capture them!" Ethan yelled and the monsters surged forward. I stepped backwards and stumbled into the engine room to see Beckendorf pacing nervously. "It's a trap!" I yelled to him and his eyes widened. I guarded the door with my sword but realised that this isn't going to work. "Beckendorf! If the monsters get past me you gotta defend until Percy is here!" I yelled at him and he nodded and pulled out a hammer. I sheath my sword and pressed the gems on my bracelet and they turned into 5 inch dual wielding hunting knives. I got into the same stance as Rachel has taught me and prepared to defend myself. Suddenly the monsters all charged and I slashed at a hellhound who charged me, ducked under a swing of a sword from half blood. Stabbed and dracanae. Cut the throat of an empousa. I held my own but I was barely holding my own as the monsters all kept charging towards the engine room. I cursed but held my ground until someone grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back into the shadows. I sighed in relief as the monsters filled the engine room and we disappeared as the shadows engulfed us.
