After school had ended, Scarlett headed outside where he had told her to meet him. She sat against a wall on the ground simply scrolling through her phone as she waited. She heard the jingling of keys and barely had time to look up before she saw him in front of her. He began to bend down until he was inches away from her face before he spoke.
"Get in the car." He said in a rumbling tone, his eyes locked on hers. Scarlett suddenly felt butterflies in her stomach. She got up from her position against the wall and got in the car hastily. Ivan came and shut the door roughly for her before coming around the car and getting in the driver's seat. It was a rather awkward car ride, but Scarlett didn't dare start a conversation. Once they arrived at his house, she didn't see any other cars in the driveway so she guessed his parents weren't home. Just him and her. Great.
His house was pretty large, and it was likely that this was where he hosted his famous parties. She guessed from the pool supplies on the side of the house that it included a pool, what a nice place indeed. Scarlett was simply admiring the house before she heard the click of the lock that Ivan had unlocked. She crossed into the house after him, looking around at the nicely decorated rooms. He cleans this place up real nice... She thought. She couldn't believe he had parties here frequently but was still able to keep the home in such good shape.
"We'll work in my room, just head upstairs and wait for me. It's the third door on the left." She nodded before heading up the staircase. She walked past pictures and tall doorways before she finally opened the door to his room. She looked around before sitting at a desk chair and waiting for him. Ivan came in after a couple of minutes and shut the door. They worked for an hour before they decided to call it a day.
"I haven't really seen you around school. Well, in science I guess." He said, tilting his head at his addition.
"Oh, yeah, I usually keep to myself.." She said with a slightly nervous chuckle, rubbing the back of her neck with a smile.
"I think I can tell, I'm not blind." Scarlett laughed at this, a true smile showing on her face. What he said next truly shocked her. "You know you're not that bad." He said, tilting his head slightly with a small upturn of his lips.
"I thought you hated me." Scarlett said in a sarcastic tone.
"No, I still do... but less." He said with a devious grin. "Oh! Now that I tolerate you... You can come tomorrow for a party I'm having. It's at ten. And please dress up." Ivan added, giving her a glance up and down.
"O-Oh alright, yeah I'll come, thank you." She said, immediately planning out what would happen. in her head.
"Mhm. Well you should head home. But I'm not getting you a ride so figure it out." He grinned. Scarlett snorted, but her lips were turned up in amusement.
"See ya-" She said, exiting his room, running down the stairs and starting her short walk home. She blasted music on her headphones until she finally arrived at home. The sun was beginning to set and she could already tell her mother had left for her nightshift, leaving her home alone. She found some dinner her mom had left her and ate it on the couch, turning on a show to watch. But her mind was somewhere else and she hadn't been paying attention to the sound. Her thoughts were about the party, and mostly, about Ivan.
