Third-Person POV:
Y/N held a picture in her hand, showing the three friends all together before the pandemic started. Her eyes stared at Skid for one moment before moving onto Pump. She didn't know where Skid was, or if he was even alive. As for Pump, she heard from Pico that he seemed long gone. She didn't want to believe it, but she knew she had to.
-
Noticing herself staring at Pump, she glanced away and put the picture in her pocket. The thoughts of them all together as children ran through her mind but were quickly interrupted as she felt a burning feeling in her throat. Y/N took off her mask and quickly ran towards the bathroom. She coughed rose petals out, some of them covered in blood.
-
Y/N opened her eyes and noticed the blood on the petals. The H/C adolescent could feel herself choking on fear, literally. She coughed up some more and wiped her mouth with her sleeve. She turned on the faucet and wiped off the blood on the sides of the sink. She noticed some of the rose petals on her tongue and attempted to pull them off.
-
The burning feeling returns as she pulls on one petal. Trying not to make a sound, she attempted to pull the petal off. Almost wincing in pain, she noticed that the petal was connected to a small vine-covered in thorns. Her eyes widened at the sight. She threw the petal away and put her mask on, turning off the light and door behind her.
-
Y/N didn't know why these roses grew inside her lungs, but she found herself becoming attached to her childhood best friend. Knowing that the corruption is almost across the world, thoughts of herself finally suffocating on the petals kept running through her mind. Y/N didn't want that to happen, but she felt like it needed to happen before those creatures target her.
-
She stopped her train of thought as tears were slowly rolling down her cheeks. Y/N wiped the tears away and sat in silence. She looked over to her right, the reddish light shining through the window. Y/N felt empty the more she thought of her childhood. Finally getting tired of these horrid thoughts of hers, she grabs her phone and gets up.
-
She walks downstairs and looks out the window. Nothing. She took out the photo of the three again, staring at the two boys before putting it back in her pocket. She opened the door and closed it behind her quietly before turning around. Her neighbourhood looked nothing like it had before, leaving her shocked.
