When will it end (Anthony Rizzo)

Chapter 3

October 24, 2021

Josh's POV

  After I called mom I went to the office to get a pass and then went to the student parking lot and waited for mom. After 4 or 5 minutes, mom pulled into the parking lot and I got in, and she said "Hey, I'm taking you to the hospital because you don't look like you have a cold." 

  I nodded and put the seat back so I can lay down. Normally I hate mom's music when I'm in the car with her but a 10-minute car ride while I'm not feeling well, the last thing I cared about was the music we were listening to. We got to the hospital and went to the emergency room and a nurse showed us to an empty bed, I took a seat and waited for a doctor. I didn't feel like talking so mom to them everything, as soon as mom told them that I was really itchy the doctor said "Mrs. Rizzo we need to take your son to the cancer floor right away."

  "Wait why?" Mom said worriedly 

  "Because he might have Hodgkin's lymphoma disease, and I know that your husband had the when he was 18 so we need to take your son now." the doctor stated

  A bunch of nurses and doctors started taking me to the cancer floor. As soon as we got to an empty room one of the nurses said "Josh this is your room, try and make yourself comfortable. Your mom will be in here any minute, she just had to do some paperwork."

  I nodded then the nurse left and mom walked in and said "Oh my baby, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I called your dad and he said that Kris, David, and he are coming as soon as they can I also called grandma and she said that grandpa and she are coming as fast as they can and uncle John and aunt Sarah is going to pick up Matt and drop your car off and come here."

 "Ok but I just want to go home," I said sadly

  Mom pulled up a chair next to my bed and said "I know but you can't go home until you're better, but how about you text or call your uncle or aunt what you want from the house and I bet they'll bring it."

  I nodded and got out my phone and texted aunt Sarah and ask 'Hey do you think you could bring me my football and basketball pillow, the picture of me and Matt at our first baseball game, my phone charger, and my special teddy bear.' My teddy bear is very special because it's the one that my parents gave me when I was born and Matt has one too. She texted me back and said 'Of course.' Then I texted Aurora, 'Hey, I wanted to let you know that I'm in the hospital and I got diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. I guess it's true what they say, like father like son.' After about 30 minutes Matt, Vincent, Aria, aunt Sarah, uncle John, grandma, and grandpa came into my room. Matt was carrying Aria and grandpa was holding Vincent's hand, Vincent ran to my bed and said "JJ are you ok?" 

  Almost everyone in my family called me JJ or Josh, the only time someone called me Joshua was when I was in big trouble and only my grandparents and my parents call me that. I looked at Vincent and said "Yeah buddy I'm ok, I'm just a little sick? How bout you and Ari come and sit on my bed with me." 

  He jumped up and Matt placed Aria on my bed and they both hugged me. I looked at Matt and said "How was the rest of the award ceremony? Did coach notice that I left?" 

  "Of course, he noticed that you left, you're one of our star players. After you left he ended it but had me talk to him and I just told him that you weren't feeling well so you went home. Oh and also Aurora has been calling me for 30 minutes trying to get ahold of you, she said that she got ahold of everyone but you." Matt replied 

  I pull out my phone and I see I have 38 texts and 3 missed calls from Aurora. I open all the text and the last says 'Josh, I can't do this anymore your life is just too crazy for me. I'm sorry but we're done.' I show Matt the text and he shows mom and then Matt said: "Dude this day just sucks for you." 

  I looked at him with a 'seriously' look then I looked at aunt Sarah and ask "Hey aunt Sarah did you bring the stuff I ask for?" 

  "Oh yeah, here you go," she said as she handed me a bag of the stuff I ask for.

  "Thank you," I said as I was taking all of the stuff out. I'm going to be here for a while so might as well make myself at home.

  About 10 minutes later I had all my stuff set up, and yes it took me 10 minutes because mom and all the girls kept rearranging things. I started feeling tired so I looked at my mom and said "Hey mom, I starting to get a little tired, so I'm going to go and take a nap. ok?" 

  She nodded her head and everyone but my mom was leaving because it was getting late, but the one thing I couldn't stop thinking about was where is my dad? He should be here by now. I wonder if he is still in the air. Then my eyes started getting heavy and within 10 seconds I was fast asleep.

Hope you enjoyed it. Sorry, I haven't posted in like 2 weeks, I have been really busy. But I hope this long chapter makes up for it.
