Chapter 5

Josh's POV

I didn't know what to say because I wanted to tell him that I knew but I wanted it to still be a surprise for everyone. "I heard talking but I didn't hear what was said, I was too tired." I knew he wouldn't buy that but oh well. "I know you're lying it's okay as long as you don't tell anyone else, ok?" "I promise, but when were you going to tell us?" I asked

"After our doctor's appointment today." dad said. "Wait you're leaving me?" "Don't worry, we'll be right back and David, Kris, and everyone else said they would stay with you, so you'll have a full house anyway." I looked at the clock and saw that it was already 6:30 "Damn it's 6:30, we've been talking for almost 3 hours." "Shot, your mom hates when I keep you and Matt up late, hurry go to sleep."

"Hey, dad." "Yeah, buddy." "Do you think you guys are going to win the world series? And do you think I'll be to see you win at Wrigley?" "I sure hope we are going to win and I hope you can see us win and celebrate with us on the field." I started to fall asleep with the thought of going to Wrigley Field.

2 hours later

  Matt and the rest of our family just showed up and Dad got a text from Grandpa Rossy 30 minutes ago that he and KB have to make a stop somewhere before they come to the hospital. I was trying so hard not to tell everyone that mom is pregnant, but I promise my dad that I wouldn't say anything. 

 Finally, KB and Grandpa Rossy show up and told me to close my eyes, so I did and waited for one of them to tell me to open my eyes, as soon as KB says that I can open my eyes I see KB and Rossy holding and Cubs W flag signed by everyone on the team and a giant 'get well soon' card on the table next to them. "Thank you guys so much, you have no idea how much the means to me," I say with the biggest smile on my face. Dad gave me the card as KB and Rossy hung up the flag, I was looking at all the names and I saw that they got everyone who works for the Cubs, all my friends, all the staff at school, and everyone I know to sign it, no wonder it's so big. As I'm glancing through all the names I see that my parents signed it and I could totally tell that mom wrote it because dad has horrible handwriting, 'Our sweet JJ, we hope you get better soon so we can see you play sports and do what you were made to do and make everyone laugh. We love you and we hope that you enjoy the surprise we have for you and Matt. Love Mom and Dad' I look up and smiled at mom and dad and almost started crying. Then Matt said "Josh you wanna watch Rookie of The Year? It's on Disney+." "Did you just ask me if I wanted to watch one of the greatest baseball movies, of course, I do," I said, then Matt got up and connected my laptop to the tv he brought, so I would have something to play Xbox on.

 We got 30 minutes into the movie and I looked over at dad and saw him whisper "It's time to go." They got up and mom said, "We have to run a quick errand, we'll be right back." we said bye and continue to watch the movie, I was so excited for when they get back because that meant I didn't have to keep it a secret that my mom was pregnant. Just then, I get a text from one of my closest friends, Ava, we have been best friends since we were 4 when her family moved in right next door to us in our house in Florida, I open her text and it said 'Hey, Matt just told me that you got diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. I'm so sorry, we are all praying for you here. Get well soon, can't wait to see you next time you come.' I texted her back 'Thanks Ava, it means a lot. Sorry you had to hear about it from Matt but I've been kinda stuck in a hospital and it's been kinda crazy and you didn't hear it from me but my mom is pregnant!!!' she immediately texted back 'WHAT!!!! OMG I can't believe your mom is pregnant don't worry I won't say a thing to anyone, BFS.' we have had a little inside joke that BFS stands for best friend secret. KB notice that I was smiling at my phone and came over and whispered "You're texting Ava aren't you?" I nodded knowing that I was blushing a little, see here's the thing I've had a crush on Ava since we were 14, and a few months ago when we were in Florida visiting family and Matt and Ava were talking in the other room and I heard Matt ask "do you have a crush on Josh?" and Ava said, "Well I mean yeah I have a crush on Josh but he's dating Aurora and I'm not even sure he likes me."

 After the movie, mom and dad walked into the room with the biggest smile on their faces, oh thank god this is it they are finally going to tell everyone.
