UNREQUITED LOVE

Chapter 1

It was in the beginning of May when I fell for him. The most beautiful time in my life when my world changed, my life changed.

Hi! My name is Erica James. I am 14 years old and live in New Orleans. Due to my father's transferable job we recently shifted to Canada, Toronto. A place which was totally new to me. I was very excited to meet new people but also was very nervous and scared inside. I got admitted to The Albert International School.

It was my first day at school. The atmosphere was very relaxing and chilling. There was a good vibe coming from the school. I went to the staff room so that my head teacher Miss Holland could introduce me to everyone. I went to the classroom along with her. As soon as she announced that I will be studying with them, everyone in the room started staring at me. It was kinda awkward and weird because every single soul was staring at me.

She told me to find myself a seat to sit. I saw a girl sitting alone in the 4th row so I went up to her and asked her if she could share her seat with me. At first she hesitated but then she looked at me and nodded. I sat on my seat and peaked into her book so that I could understand what we were supposed to study at that time.

I took a deep breath and introduced myself to her.

"Hi! My name is Erica James. Nice to meet you."

"Hello, I'm Naomi Kurt. Nice to meet you too."

"Umm...can you tell me what we are supposed to do?"

"Sure. Umm..Miss Holland is teaching us a poem written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning called " How Do I Love Thee?"...it's actually a poem written on Love."

"Oh..that's great. Actually I love reading poems and novels. To tell you the truth, literature is my favourite."

"So you are like a book-geek?"

"No, not that much but you can say that."I replied with a soft smile.

Miss Holland was reading out the poem loudly in the class. Thinking about the poem, it was so beautifully written that every word of it was beautiful. I looked outside the window. The cool breeze, the chirping of the birds and the clear sky fitted perfectly for the poem.

The bell rang and Miss Holland left the class. I was still looking outside the window, enjoying the cool breeze.

Suddenly Naomi stood up from her seat and held my hand.

"What's wrong Naomi?" I asked her.

"Come let's go!"

"But where?"

"Today there is a football match on campus and our school team is participating in it. Let's go and watch. Also there are some friends of mine in the stadium. I'll introduce them to you."

"Ok"

We went to the field. It was crowded as hell. There were so many people on the ground. I told Naomi not to leave my hand in case I got lost. She took us to the front seat. Now the view was perfect. I could see everyone playing.

"Hey Austin!" Naomi said.

"Austin, this is Erica James. She transferred to our school today. We both are in the same class."

"Hey Erica!" Austin said. I could tell from his expression that he was very excited to see me and also to watch the game.

"Hi Austin. Nice to meet you"

"Yeah, nice to meet you too." Austin replied.

Austin is actually Naomi's boyfriend. They have been in a relationship for the past 1 year.

Our school won the football match and everyone was so happy. Naomi asked me to come with them to celebrate their victory. I called up my mom and took permission from her and went to the victory party.
