"You heard me kid, what's going on?" My mind raced to find an excuse he believed.
"I was hungry. I went to the dining hall to get a snack." Oh no, what have I done?
"Were you in the kitchen?" Yes, but you can't know that.
"No ma'am, I mean s-sir!" I am going to die, for sure.
"Then how did you get food?"
"I didn't get food. I looked to see if there was a vending machine but there wasn't. I knew I shouldn't be in the kitchen so I am currently on my way to my room." I adjusted my position. This man's ice cold gaze peered into my soul. Nervous sweat began to form on my brow.
"Your room is on the third floor. This is the second floor." He grabbed hold of my arm, squeezing hard. "Why are you here?" My mind scattered. Every thought disappeared from my brain.
"It's dark, I thought this was the third floor." I ripped my arm away from the sullen character. "I'll be on my way now." I turned on my heel and waltzed away.
"Set an alarm for 6:15. That's when we leave for Epcot." I reached the stairs. "And leave your attitude at the door. Fucking kids...." He thought I couldn't hear him, but my hearing is as sharp as a tack. Rude. Every step I took weighed a thousand tons. Those metal stairs couldn't have made a more boisterous boom. I staggered into the dank suite and sagged onto the nearest mattress. My eyes fluttered shut, locking in all the terrifying sights I had seen.
............................................................
"We know you were in the kitchen." The beefy figure approached me, sharpening a knife. "We know everything Paxton. Nothing is a secret." The man brought down the knife. I bolted to a sitting position, sweat raining onto the bed.
"Just a dream, all a dream. It's okay, it's all alright." I curled into the fetal position, tears pouring down my cheeks. "You're safe Paxy." The alarmed ejected sound, scaring me further. I reached over and pressed the frigid button and the startling tone immediately came to a standstill. The big day. I veered toward my valise, grabbing anything in sight. I ended up with a pair of azure jeans and a Dr. Who t-shirt. Today I made sure to grab my red Converse. I grabbed my digicapture, my bag, and headed out the door towards the bus that was waiting in front.
"Good morning sassy." The guard greeted me sourly. I couldn't believe that man. He had it out to make my time miserable. "Epcot today."
"Thank you Sir." With that, I boarded the bus. My stomach churned with nevous energy. It's okay, nothing bad will happen. You're safe. "It's alright." Did I really just talk out loud? No one noticed thank god. I leaned against the frosty window, staring at the vast landscape. It was ridden with carnage, death evident everywhere. Oddly gorgeous, the glistening blood pooled around the bus. The sun is accenting every little piece in sight, creating a piece of art. My hands instinctively reached into my bag and grabbed my notebook. I began sketching what I saw, every detail I could identify passed onto the paper. We continued on to Epcot. I was paying no attention to anything going on until I heard a girl's glimmering voice.
"Please, no! I had to hide in this bus, there was nowhere else to go!" I peeked over at the girl the guards were talking to. Her face was twisted up in distrees, tears piercing her eyes.
"Jamie, we told you to leave weeks ago. I don't care if you are my little sister, it's over." The guard pulled aside her long, cocoa hair and pressed a gun against the side of her head.
"P-please Daniel, don't let him do this." The girl looked over at the nicer of the guards.
"It's out of my hands now, stupid."
"Micah, I'm your sister. Do you have a heart?"
"I never have." I quickly turned my head. A shot rang through the air, breaking the dead silence. The sobbing quickly stopped, leaving an eerie lull. I've never heard anything so terrifying. I'm not ready to be on my own. I want to go home. What if I'm next? Oh gods, get me out of here! My heart was beating out of my chest, thumping filling my ears. The terror stole my mind and took over my body. I retracted into myself tucking my chin into my chest. Tears soon rained upon me and silently I wept. Soon enough the bus came to a halt. The men came to get me and dragged me outside. We walked throught the gates, staring at the magnificent park before us. The guards stopped to admire the giant silver golf ball in front of us. Spaceship Earth. The immense sphere was covered in a layer of lush moss.
"Men, welcome to Epcot." I'm actually here.
