11:34 A.M.
After many attempts, the teenagers kept failing. Every method they tried always failed. Maria was always in control and didn't let Ingrid take any control. Until Elena had an idea.
"Am I the only one that finds it odd that the only time Ingrid is able to take control is in the early morning? What if we make Maria tired enough to let Ingrid take control?" Elena suggested.
"But that's the problem, once Ingrid takes control, we need Maria to also take control." Steve pointed out.
"What if we get Ingrid to give Maria that control. Maria blocks Ingrid, but what if Ingrid wouldn't block Maria?" Elena continued.
"But it's Maria's body," Peter spoke. "She's the one that can take the ultimate control."
"What if we gave Maria's body to Ingrid?" Steve asked.
"Don't you dare." The four teenagers heard a woman's voice behind them.
When they turned around they saw a blonde woman walking towards them. "Who are you?" Maria asked.
"I am Elizabeth. I can't tell you much about me because it can cause butterfly effects, but you have to understand that getting the original spirit out of the body would mean killing the body." The lady explained.
"What does that mean?" Elena asked, looking at Maria with a worried expression.
"To remove one spirit from the body without their approval takes power, but removing a powerful spirit or the original spirit from the body means that you have to kill the body. You know biology, a virus needs a host, similar to the spirit. Once the host dies, the spirit dies too, the only way for the spirit to survive is to leave the body before the body dies. The problem is the original spirit never leaves the body." Elizabeth explained.
"How do you know this?" Peter asked. "Are you a chosen one?"
"I am a chosen one, just not at the moment. There are many chosen ones, past, present, and future. I was sent to warn you. I can't tell you what to do, because if I do I will cause trouble later on, but I can stop you from ruining stuff." Elizabeth answered.
"Are you a time traveler?" Steve asked.
"I appear to be. The truth is the future isn't set in stone. Your choices now influence what happens tomorrow and onward. The 'story' is written but with many drafts, the path you take influences the ending. You have to understand that. There is a way to stop what is going on, but don't get Maria's spirit out of her body, because you will lose her this way." Elizabeth replied.
"If you are from the future, then you know what should be done," Elena spoke.
"I do, but like I said, if I tell you what to do I will ruin developments you'll need later on. My younger self is your age, so I actually know you from a young age, I heard your stories and learnt from them. If I reveal something to you, things will change in the future. Everything about your adventure is important because in my lifetime Ingrid is going to play her role." Elizabeth explained, then she turned to walk away.
"Wait." Peter spoke as he ran up to Elizabeth, "If you come from the future, then you know who I will end up with. Can you tell me who she is?"
Elizabeth smiled then replied: "You know who she is Peter. I promise if you stick to the plan and don't do anything stupid then you'll be with her. But you have to learn to let go of that necklace Maria is wearing because you don't need it to get the girl."
Elizabeth then left as the three teenagers looked at a heartbroken Peter. "Man, everyone keeps telling you the same thing," Steve commented.
Maria noticed how upset Peter was so she went up to him and put her hand on his shoulder saying: "I will try to make sure nothing happens to the necklace, Peter. I will make sure you and your girl will be together."
"No," Peter replied, sounding upset. "It's your necklace now Maria. It's not the little girl's necklace anymore. It was always supposed to be yours. She'll come on her own, but you have to be focused on protecting Tentville, not that necklace."
Maria smiled at Peter, knowing that he is finally ready to give up the necklace, took the pressure off of her, but when Elena interrupted saying: "That's great and all, but how can we do the whole Ingrid and Maria thing?" Maria felt the pressure again.
"I have an idea," Peter spoke. "The necklace is packed with chosen one energy right?" The teens nodded, "Then why don't we let Maria use the necklace herself? Ingrid would use her own power, but when that power becomes too dangerous, then Maria will regain control and use the necklace to generate the energy needed to be able to complete the mission."
"There is just one problem with that." Ingrid spoke as she gained control over Maria's body, "If I use too much energy, I will be taking the energy from Maria's body, and for me to gain enough time to control Maria and generate my powers through her, she has to be weak. So her body won't have a lot of energy to spear if she doesn't regain control in time."
"And what happens if you use her body's energy?" Elena asked, looking extremely concerned.
"When I was a chosen one, I used all my body's power to generate enough energy to trap the witch in the cave. Once I did that my body didn't die, it faded, and that's how I became a ghost." Ingrid explained.
"So Maria would turn into a ghost?" Peter asked.
"Maybe, since she has two spirits in her, one of us will be trapped in the necklace then. If she gets trapped in the necklace then that's not good. But if I get trapped in the necklace then she would move on to the afterlife." Ingrid explained.
"So if Maria fails, then she could die?" Elena asked as Ingrid made Maria's body nod, "No, no way. She's not doing it."
"Elena." Steve tried.
"No. She's my best friend. I won't let her die like this. What's our job then? We are supposed to help her. Can't it be one of us? I volunteer." Elena spoke.
"Elena, your job is to help her regain control, but you can't fight for her. You can't volunteer, it's not your destiny." Ingrid replied.
"Guys relax. Elizabeth said she knew us all, that means Maria will be okay." Steve spoke.
"She also said that the future isn't set in stone," Peter added.
"Chosen ones and protectors are known to sacrifice themselves for Tentville. It's our destiny." Ingrid stated.
"But why should she sacrifice her life?" Peter asked.
"There is no other way," Ingrid spoke before Maria regained control again.
