Lolita

Ares VAERDA
Athena and I were the first ones to leave Sicily. We quickly said our goodbyes and drove to airport, flying straight to New York.

I watch from above as all the men bring in our shipments into Athena's basement. A man brings an old metal chair, unfolding it behind me to sit. I light a cigarette, taking a long drag I slouch into the uncomfortable chair that creaked with my weight.

I hear the distinct sound of Athena stilettos clacking down towards me. She speaks in a hushed voice into the phone in Italian about shipments, our main focus being to bring everything here to New York. She motions for a chair, sitting on it gently as if it will break. She continues her phone call and holds her cigarette up to her lips, waiting for me to light it up.

She cuts her call and looks up at me.
"You good?"
"I'm going to Japan." I simply state
"I get the plane ready." She says and gets up to leave.
"You not gonna ask why?" I ask
"I have no reason to." She walks back up into the house, leaving me lowkey shocked, she normally needs to know everything I do.
I make my way down the creaky metal stairs and pick up a brick. I unwrap it pulling a small packet of white powder and walk into kitchen. Spilling the contents of the packet on the kitchen counter, I push the powder into messy lines, tossing my head back after snorting a line

Athena takes the bill from my hands and snorts a line too. She then proceeds to drag onto the sofa, placing my head on her lap.
"Are you gonna tell me what's happening, or do I need to find out myself?" She demands. I keep quiet, what was happening to me?
"You've been completely out of it these past two weeks. Hell, you even lost poker to Arian." She says making me chuckle.
"I think I finally know what this line of work actually is, you know? With all this stuff with those Portuguese, I'm finally experiencing the whole thing, and I don't like it one bit."
"Do you wanna go back to flight school?" She asks, she always knows exactly what I'm thinking.
"I thought that joining you would be a lot easier than flying planes for a living."
"Go back to flight school then."
"But I'd be leaving all this" I motion with hand "to you."
"You think I can't handle this" She mimics my motions "myself? I think I did just fine before you, although you do make it a lot easier."
"Do I really?" I ask.
"You sure do, but I'll do just fine without you, you shouldn't be doing something you don't want to."
"Can I go back to school after his trip to Japan?" I ask.
"You can go anytime." She replies.
"I'll leave tonight to Tokyo then." I get up to leave.

Tokyo airport is as busy as ever at 1 at night. The plane taxis down to the ramp, I get in to the car waiting for me, opting to drive myself to Yokohama port.

As I enter the large metal wires gates, I see a few masked men jumping over the tall fencing clearing being ambushed. I lean over and pull a gun from the glove compartment.

I drive straight to the office, a large metal shipping container disguised to work as a base. Asuka, one of Athena's most trusted men, stands along with a few other of our men situated in Japan. Asuka puts his call on hold to bow to me as I get out of the car.
