Even the sun sets in paradise - [Jacob Black X Reader]

Edward and Bella beat us down the mountain by a few minutes. When we reached the bottom I slid down Seth's side. I was walking across the clearing and amid everything happening so fast someone missed a vampire.

Of course, it would be the only one who was the second biggest risk to my life; my mother.
Jacob started to charge toward Bella, who stood about twenty feet from me. My mother charged towards me. Embry jumped towards me, Leah and Sam jumped in grabbing her. I heard Seth dive to cover my back as I flinched backward toward him. It didn't take long for the wolves to pull her apart. Two werewolves were way stronger and faster than just one vampire.

Especially with the scent of Bella's blood lingering. It was morbid and horrible to watch. My mother was never a threat to anyone but me, making this moment in my life my lowest.
"The Volturi will never honor our truce with the pack. They need to leave," Carlisle said. On hearing him say that I composed myself and stood up. I swiped the dirt off of me and walked back to where Seth stood next to me. I climbed back on his back, he made a run towards the rest of the pack.

I wouldn't look anyone in their eyes. It was the only way to keep myseelf composed. I felt betrayed and like the point i hoped wouldn't be proven was just proved. I wanted so badly to be wrong. I wanted him to choose me and it felt like he never would as long as Bella was around.

When we were safely away from the vampires I slid down Seth's side once again. The wolves transformed back, "Goodbye everyone." I started walking towards the path back to my car. Jacob chased after me.

"Y/n! Y/n! Would you just stop for a second," he yelled after me. "Are you mad at me?"

I turned around avoiding looking him in his eyes, "No Jake. Why would I be mad? Why would I have any reason to be mad at you," I said sarcastically.

"I don't know why you are so mad. Embry and Seth were right near you!"

"AND EDWARD WAS WITH BELLA!" I shouted at him. "Jake, you just proved my point, that no matter what Bella is your top priority." I turned back around and continued to my car.

"JUST STOP," he shouted. "I love you. I want you!"

I stopped in my tracks, " Jake if I was the only one you wanted you would have thought about me before Bella. Obviously, there is something there that even imprinting can't take away."
Jacob walked up behind me, my back still to him.  He wrapped his arms around my waist. "Please don't touch me," I said, pushing his arms off. "Jake, this won't work. I don't think we should be together." A tear rolled down my cheek as I started walking again. Jake didn't move.

When I finally got to my car I felt tired and worn down. I backed out onto the highway,  I didn't know where to go. I couldn't go back to Jacob's. I didn't want to go home either.

I needed to know what happened. We were so happy four days ago. Something happened this morning. I'm going to go talk to Edward. I drove straight to the Cullens' house.

I waited in the driveway, I just kept waiting. I wanted Edward to tell me what happened. Before we went up that mountain he was in love with me. Or was he? After a while, I finally saw Edward walk out of the house. I unlocked my car and he got in.

"Took you damn long enough," I said.

"Yeah I know we were still dealing with the Volturi."

"Edward, what happened this morning? I heard you and Bella talking before I came out of the tent."

"Well," he paused. "This morning Jacob found out about Bella and I's engagement. He was very upset. She ran after him and she, well... she told him to kiss her. He then grabbed her and kissed her. I couldn't tell why he did it, I don't know if he knew why he did it either."
Tears clouded my vision. "Did he ever even love me," I choked out.

"Y/n it's not my pla-," I cut him off.

I stared straight ahead, "Edward, that's not what I asked. Did he ever love me?"

He looked down, "From what I could tell he did love you."

"Thank you, Edward." He then got out of my car. I wanted to cry, I had never felt such deep wounding pain. I pulled out of the driveway and headed towards the reservation. I needed my things. I really hoped he wouldn't be there.
When I got to the house it was dark on the inside. No one was home, I sighed in relief when I walked inside. I walked back to Jake's bedroom and threw my clothes into my backpack. I left any of his clothes and raced to get out of the house. When I was almost done I heard the front door creak open.

"Fuck," I mumbled under my breath.

"Y/n where are you," Jacob yelled while
walking through the house. I finished grabbing the rest of my things and zipped my bag. I grabbed both of my bags and walked out the back door. He walked out the front and stood by my driver's side door. "Please just talk to me," he begged.

"Jacob," I paused, taking a deep breath. "There is nothing you could say that will fix the damage you've caused."

"I know what I did was stupid but-," I cut him off.

"Which part? Kissing Bella or diving to protect her?"

He looked confused, "How did you know that?"
"You didn't even try to hide it. I wish you would have continued to ignore me," tears began to cloud my vision. "Maybe then I would've gotten over you and you could've spent all of your time chasing after fucking Bella Swan."

He gave me a look, "Bella has nothing-"

"There you go protecting her again. I truly hope that one day you realize that you don't have to push anyone who wants to love you away. Now please move out of my way." I reached for my door, elbowing him out of the way. I threw my bags in my backseat and slammed the door behind me. I felt numb and useless. He shouldn't have been able to affect me this much, but his words hurt me so much.
