2. Ignite the fire

"I cannot believe we are going home even though Negalia is far from my favorite place it is still home" I say.

Aiden kisses the top of my head lovingly, "I have missed you more than anything in the world" he assures me adjusting his hold on me, turning me to face him and wrapping his arms around me.

"I love you more than anything in the world" he says in a gentle whisper planting a soft kiss to my plump lips, I feel the prickle of his days of stubble graze against my face as we kiss. after a single touch we are both desperately hungry for more, I think I need this just to prove the distance I feel is only my imagination.

The clearing of mac's throat reminds us both we are not alone, and the look Aiden and I give each other is a carnal promise to pick this up later when we are alone, I smile inwardly as I push my fears aside.

We touch down in nigalia and are welcomed by the whole kingdom. but its Madeline I see first, the box carriage barely touches the ground before I launch out of it straight towards her.

I look in her eyes for any revenge, hate or malice but don't see it in her eyes, but all I see is love, tears of joy fall from my eyes when she is doing the same I reach her and wrap my arms around her squeezing her tightly to me.

"Your home!, You're here" she cries

I laugh as I sob "Yes I'm here, I missed you so much!"

"If I said I never doubted you would return that would be a lie" she confesses in sobs

I wipe her eyes with my thumbs "Don't worry It was touch and go for me there to" I laugh

She does not seem to care for my joke but simply crushes me to her again.

"Come on Madeline stop hogging her!" I hear Metikye grumble playfully.

I laugh then turn back to Madeline, taking both her hands in mine, we have much to discuss but we will have to wait until later" I say giving her hands a loving squeeze.

She nods in agreeance wiping her tear-sodden face, as I turn to Metikye, he greets me with a hug, although quite weak it is far stronger than I thought he would be capable of, from the looks of his very pale face. The fire that once burned magnificently in his hair and eyes radiating from him so gloriously his skin would even have a brilliant glow to it, but all I see before me now is faded red in his hair and eyes his fire completely gone.

It seems without his magic he has become a shadow of himself I hold him to me hugging him tighter but release once I realize what I am doing and so afraid I will break him somehow. I think he realizes.

"Welcome home" he rasps, he doesn't even sound like him self. A pain in my chest grows and I cant take it any longer, I know I need to find the true path first but I cant watch this any longer.

"This will never do" I sigh, he looks at me confused and a little embarrassed as if he had done something wrong, I smile, step back a touch and twirl my right pointer finger round and round in front of him.

One spark, two sparks, three, on the fourth turn the space around him ignites, a burning ring of flames circles him, Metikys eyes close as he basks in their embrace.

When Metikye finally opens his eyes the flames disappear into his body and clearly the fire in his hair and eyes has returned.

I smile a big beaming smile, " Now that is more like the man I know and missed" I reply.

He wraps his arms around me crushing me to him "thank ya, I haven't felt this good in months, that I haven't!" he replies clearly and so much healthier than before.

"We you are going to need to be in tip top shape for what is to come, and ill need you at your best"

"You have so much explainen to do. That ya do, like how you did that just now"

"I will explain everything I promise but we need to sort one thing at a time" I say assuring him.

"Oh girl you had better have one of those hugs left for me" I turn my head to see Roxy, I smile moving so I can give her a hug too.

"Roxy, I missed you too" I say burying my face in her shoulder, Roxy is a clear head taller than me I look up into her big blue eyes and know she really did miss me.

To think someone as big and strong as Roxy could be as affected by my return makes me feel even more loved, every last bit of doubt and self-loathing and loneliness I felt in the maiden are long gone, washed away by this loving memory I never intend on forgetting.

Roxy flicks her long golden dreads off her shoulder and beams at me. "Never do that to us again you would not believe how everything turned once you left and everyone knows how lost Aiden is without you" she says giving Aiden a cheeky grin.

Aiden laughs wrapping his arms around my waist, "before we leave you, tonight will not only be a celebration for Bree's return but also to the continuation of this kingdom's royal line!"

Everyone gasps and looks to each other as if making sure everyone else is thinking the same thing.

Madeline erupts first squealing, "Oh My stars your having a baby?"

I smile brightly basking in this glorious moment, Aiden grins widely as he kisses the top of my head in pride and the kingdom erupts in cheers.

I greet the kingdom that has now welcomed me home with open arms. Aiden leans down to speak in my ear "That was the best feeling" he whispers then plants a kiss to the corner of my mouth. I smile continuing our walk through the throng of people.

Finally, we make it through, Aiden guides me up the stairs with his right had at the small of my back. Pizza is sound asleep in his satchel that Aiden carefully carries at his side. it makes me giggle and I know Aiden is thinking the same thing, pizza was so full of energy and excitement for this moment he fell asleep right as the best part happened.

We break our gaze and continue walking up the grand staircase lined with a massive deep purple carpet that runs the entire staircase and up through the castle. The gold trim that frames the edges sets the whole floor off, stating clearly this is a royal household.

Once at the top we are greeted with two giant double doors, that slowly creek open as we approach. The thick, heavy wooden doors are carved beautifully with creatures big and small and a man in long robes on one side and a woman in similar robes on the other amongst the creatures.

I never noticed before but they remind me an awful lot of the robes worn in

we continue to walk into the castle, With Madeline, Metikye, Roxy, Mac, Nathaniel and Luc right behind us.
