14. Parting ways

"Me? How can that be?" I think for a moment completely confused, I remember the baby in their arms is gone in this one, "wait if the baby from this one is missing and yours has the baby, how do you know the baby is me?"

There is no baby, it is a statue of you as you are now fighting against something, In my homeland there are many stories of how the fountain came to be and the power it holds."

I can't begin to comprehend what she is saying, "This fountain and the one in midoria are both over 200 years old, how could there be one of me as I am now?"

Her eyes grow wide "There is one in midoria? What does it look like?"

"It's the same as this one except they have a baby in their arms."

She jumps up and looks at the statue more closely, something sparks her interest as she dives for a thick sharp stick on the ground. In no time she is dragging the sharp stick down the middle of the statue, something begins to appear between the two figures.

Its an intentional crack splitting them apart right down the middle. "Wait so the first fountain had my mother and father lovingly holding me in their arms, the second fountain is of both my parents separated by my disappearance, and you have one of me as I am now?"

"Yes, it looks like this" she begins using the stick as a drawing tool in some sand at the far edge of the fountain floor, the picture she shows is of a strong pregnant woman in a stance of defiance with a wave curling over her.

I look up into Bella's brown eyes this is what happened to my parents they really where separated when they lost me but if these where telling a story then how can it know I would be pregnant? No one could have know that"

"My people believe there are more of these out there and each tells the story of a prophecy that will come to pass."

"Is this the reason you need metakye?"

"Yes there is one but that's not the only reason, he is a royal run away, if you refuse to intergrate into the royal household you are stripped of your gifts and then you are let free. to serve outside of the royal household with gifts is a huge disrespect, if I bring him they will let me into the location they keep their fountain"

"You think that these will give us a clue as to what is going to happen?"

"Yes and how to stop it"

"If you think this will help ill arrange a convoy to exidore right now."

She sighs "It wont be as easy as just that, if I am right then there are eight of these fountains and there wont be enough time to go to all of them in the short amount of time we have."

"What do you mean? How can there be eight, when there is only six Midoria, verillia, Nigallia, Exidore, aquilla and sky town."

Again she sighs "I don't like to think our worlds saviour is so close minded"

I blink a few times at how she addresses me, "I'm sorry I am only repeating what I have been told, I never meant to offend."

She sighs again obviously exhausted with my ignorance but still giving me more respect than I believe she would any one else.

"Please listen carefully, if you don't want me to take Metikye then you need to chose your champions and send them out to the far reaches of the lands and find the rest of these fountains."

"Bree!"

I turn my my head to the sound of my name and see a mirage like image in the fountain, how?... what? I don't know what I'm trying to think or feal right now just this sight in this moment has me knocked way off course.
