In Ethics, I'm yawning and failing to retain the day's lecture. My thoughts are on bicolored flyers.. freckled scars.. spicy smirks.. gloomy headaches and.. my eyes wander til they meet Eijiro's. Oh, I've been meaning ask him..I catch up to him as the class files out. "It was really dumb.." I start. When I have his attention, I continue. "I bought a cheap umbrella.. it broke as soon as I opened it.. I hurt myself with it.. and that's it."
His face registered immediate concern but he reeled it back. "What made you want to share that now?" He measured his words.
I stop in the hallway and he turns to face me. "I guess.. I was just curious about the scar on your eye.." I press a smile, shameless.
"One for one, eh?"
I shrug.
He sighs though his features are relaxed. "It's not much of a story.. I was in the middle of manifesting for the first time. I rubbed my face and.. well, that was it."
I look at his hands, wondering how?
He looks around and tucks us into the doorway of an empty classroom. I take a few steps forward to let the main student traffic pass by. Dropping his bag by his feet, he straightened up and rolled back his sleeves. "My quirk is hardening.."
I raise an eyebrow and start to scan down..
"Hey! Mind out of the gutter." He partially turns away. "And here I thought you were naive.."
I roll my eyes and almost miss him hardening everything from shoulder to finger tip. Whoa. I trace the cracks in his forearm, too in awe to be bothered by the comment. "Doesn't it hurt??"
He stops the quirk from shoulder to elbow, and suddenly I'm tracing a smooth bicep, with no trace of the roughness left behind.
"Wow.. your skin is.." I look up to a red face that blends into red hair. "Ah.." I remove my hand as he returns the rest of his to normal.
"I know I saw it happen, and we've all seen crazy things.. but.. how? Your nails were.. and then your skin was.. and then your.." I gesture the length of his arm as if it wasn't in such a state just moments ago.
He rolls his sleeves down smiling, "I can even do it to my eyes."
I slowly blink. "That is.. quite the training.."
"Yeah? You should join the quirk training club, too then. It's nothing like that class.." He gets serious for a moment before teasing, "You might even learn how to use your barrier against umbrellas. Wait.. couldn't you have just walked within your barrier?"
Ok, that's it. "You're lucky we're both shields." I step forward and narrow my eyes.
He lowers his head and gets even closer, over my shoulder he's too close for me to see his face. I can feel his words in my ear, "I don't know about shield, I've seen you draw blood.. that wasn't yours.." He backs up and walks away grinning.
I spun my bag around to hit him.
"Wha- ow!" He pretended to be hurt.
"What? Couldn't you have used your quirk?" I stick out my tongue.
His shark-like grin falls as he unintentionally stares at my tongue.
Men. I mentally eye roll. "Anyway. I'm checking out the club expo sometime tonight.. will they have a booth there or something?"
"Oh yeah.. but I'd send an email before that. It'll fill up fast. Here, wait." He stops and tucks himself into another doorway.
After some scrolling on his phone, he produces the info for the club leaders. Hah.. I know those names.I find the bookstore empty again. I do a more thorough scan of the aisles before heading to the back. Izuku is there, pulling over his shirt. "Did I miss the you-can't-wear-the-same-clothes-as-at-school-here memo?"
"Oh, hah, no.. it's just that I'm busy til I get here.. and I get pretty sweaty. How are you?" He answers and asks quickly.
"I'm well, thank you.. you?"
He shrugs, "All good here, hah."
The moment hangs over us. "Is Ochako..?"
"It's just us tonight, she's manning a booth at the expo." He says this lightly as he closes his locker.
"Oh, you didn't have to do that too? With uh.. quirk training club?"
"No I left that to Kacch- hey, how did you know about that?" He swung around.
I walk up to him grinning, his shirt is fine but I tug it down on one side as if it were unkempt. "I was recommended to it. I was hardly surprised when I saw you two were the contacts."
I'd already scoped if there were cameras around, but seeing as it's a changing room.. I place a hand on his chest and ask, "So, it's just us?"
He put his hand gently on mine and brought it down. "Y-you can go to the expo if you want.. I can manage tonight, mostly everyone's over there anyway.." He starts to make his way around the bench to the door.
"But wouldn't that mean I have the best opportunity to learn right now?" It's too fun to tease him. "I'm going to at least check out the inventory.. get more familiar with-"
He turns around again.
"Are you-?" Yes. He's hard again. Is he just hitting puberty? Haha.
"I-I'm fine! Learning inventory is a great idea! The inventory that's out over there!"
Pfft. "I'm sad. I thought we wanted to get to know each other but now you're scared of me and pushing me away." I pout.
"It's not th-that. I.. I want to be a hero someday! I can't just.. be going around doing things like.." He's completely red.
I raise my eyebrow as he trails off. I sit on the bench with my hands on my lap, looking up innocently. His face goes in a kind of haze as he cups mine. I see his bulge in front of me and I bite my lip.
"You are too much of a tease." He let go gently then awkwardly headed to the restroom.
I headed off to browse the aisles and learn the inventory like a good girl when I received a message from
Shinso: Hiya. Don't know if you're at this expo thing but there's a booth here I think you'd find interesting..***
