Text you?

*Alarm* ..Ugh
Why did I think Math first thing in the morning was gonna be a good idea? I mean, I don't hate it.. I feel good when I solve things, it's just.. Ugh. I slowly get up and get ready, minding my hand.
When I'm waiting in line at the bakery, I send a photo to my aunt. 'I'm okay, my umbrella just broke and I got jabbed when trying to close it.' I get the expected 'Oh honey, you've got to be careful! I'll send money for the medical-'
I feel guilty even if I'm on scholarship, so I make my way to the bookstore first. Since I changed the math class times, I wonder if the text books changed too. Nope, they're the same. Cool.
Also, it occurs to me that I haven't checked my calculator batteries in a while, so I get a new pack just in case. Except, they're not the right ones. I check again and see the two battery types are mixed in between the designated rows. I sort them out and take the ones I need.
"Hello, just these please." I place them on the counter when I reach the register. "Also, I have this," I take my app out of my bag.
"Actually Miss, do you have a few moments for an interview?" The person I now realize is the manager, asks.

Last minute materials, check. Job, check. Stupid luck, check. I had been assessed while sorting the batteries, I'm glad for the first good impression. It goes to show that you never know who's paying attention..
I'll be starting with a few hours Tuesday through Thursday. Yes, they roped me in on Wednesdays too, but it should be fine. 10-ish hours a week to start during the busy period.. should be fine, right?
I'm training tonight already. Oh crap, I might not be able to make it to the club expo tomorrow. I whip out my phone and go to Shoto's contact. No.. I won't be the first one to text.. I decidedly slip my phone back into my pocket.

Math went by quickly, though I'm still deciding if I like more shorter classes or fewer longer ones. Whatever. I make it to science early and am amused at the girls who've picked seats where I sat before. Rather, by where he sat before.
I won't assume that Katsuki will want to sit with me again, so I pick a seat between the rejected guys. Ah, speaking of..
Katsuki strolls in, bag slung over his shoulder. He barely assesses the room before zeroing in on me. I was going to pretend to look at my phone or book or something but he held my gaze until he sat.
..Behind me? I exhale. He looks as if he's been betrayed.. pfft.
My phone vibrates and for a split second I think it's him, then I realize it's the guys I have class with whose contacts I don't have (yet?). I guess since we see each other anyway..
I discreetly pull out my phone. Oh, two messages.
Shinso: Hello there. How are you feeling?
Shoto: Thank you again for helping with the flyers.
Right, I have to tape up more of those.. I quickly shoot off messages and put my phone away.
To Shinso: 4 stitches but I am doing great 🥲
To Shoto: I'll be training at the bookstore tomorrow night.. not sure when I'll get out for the expo.

It's the first class that I've taken more than once so far and I can feel the pace quickening. When it ends, I gather my things slowly.. now with flyers in mind. While looking at my science text, I remember a certain first encounter and wonder what kind of student Katsuki is..
Ah.. I must've thought of his name too many times.. He appears in the just-emptied seat beside me. I quietly sling my bag over my shoulder, awaiting his attitude.
"Tonight's reading.. we should compare pages.."
Oh.. "Did you have time now or did you want to meet later?" I have time to drop my stuff off at the dorm and change for yoga.. then grab clothes for training later..
He reads my mental itinerary on my face and goes with "Now, while I get lunch."

I get the sense that he's proud. He didn't say let's get lunch together, is it because he's not sure if I have the time? Or would want to? Does he not ask questions he might get a 'Sorry, can't' to? It's not like he doesn't care.. or why would he help with the reading assignments?
It's a quiet walk to the shop outside the building. Should I get food, too? I might not have time to later.. I settle for a drink and chips. Ugh. It twinges to open the bag.. I put my stuff down on the nearest empty table and try to pinch one corner while biting-
..Katsuki places his hands on mine and pulls it open for me. "Should I bother asking?" He glances at my bandage.
I almost give in, but meet halfway with, "It's just.. embarrassing." I thank him for the help and dig around for my text book. "So the section starting on page 38.. it looks like it doesn't start til 43 for me.."
Katsuki watches as I get busy. "Here. It looks like the images and graphs have an updated design.. but the data and comprehension questions are the same." He takes a swig of his coffee. "The reading ends on this page for you." He closes the text on what seems like a bookmark and hands it to me.
"Thank you. This is annoying, right? I should just get the updated edition. Maybe I'll get an employee discount.." I notice his expression change and off goes my light bulb. "Hey, can I ask.. were you okay yesterday?"
Instead of answering, he looks at the time on his smart watch. "It's not annoying.. I have to go though. Text me if you have trouble with the questions." Aand he's gone.
Alrighty then. But text you? I don't even have your- I look down at the slip in my text. Hah.. This guy..
