"THE CINEMA OF MY LIFE"

For fleeting moments,
Guilt is the audience:
a silent spectator,
when ego and pride run the show
setting the stage for it to explode.
And it's in these moments,
I say things, i didn't mean,
Hurting the people who matter.
I did things, i wouldn't have done
the cracks in their hearts can't be undone.
Then a long time later,
During some demonic nights,
Guilt takes up the spotlights,
Standing at the center,
And my ego and pride
droop in shame.
even a mirror I cannot face
this is when regret comes in with it's shroud
wrapping me completely as my sobs grow loud
taking perverse pleasure in my pain
for it has been waiting in the shadows till then
it's embrace now a stranglehold
where I cannot escape
reminding, replaying again and again
so in my agony it can reign.
