- A Boy And His Demon
Hellish Meeting
I walked up at the gates of my lord's castle. I was stopped by blades being aimed towards my neck. "Where do you think you're going Furfur?" I looked at the first guard and smiled. "Oh come on! I just wanna greet my lord today." They both looked at each other and growled. "No dice. Get lost." They said coldly.
"Hey, ow.. I just want to ask our lord something.." I pouted. They stared at each other for a while before they lowered their swords and nodded. "Don't take long." They both said. I smiled and walked through the gates.
It's time! Holy shit it's time for lower ranked demons, like myself to get a chance at becoming demon general! And I will get that promotion.
I walked into the throne room and saw as my lord was assigning demons to missions while he was holding a clipboard of mortal names. I walked up and waited in the line. I already started to think about how I'd act as the new demon general.
Once it was my turn his smile fated to a frown. "Oh Furfur, it's you.." I smiled and tilted my head like a cat. "Aww don't be that way! C'mon, please my lord, I've been waiting for years to be allowed to the surface." I held my head straight and look up at him. "Please, I want to bring misery to someone."
He rolled his eyes before taking a long breath and flipped through a few pages of the clipboard. "You already do that now." He mumbled out. I glared over at his right hand, Mason, who was about my age. Lucky bastard. He took note of my glare and pulled his bottom eye lid down and stuck out his tounge in a mock.
Our silent bicker was overruled by the demon lord tapping his finger on the clipboard, making me look up at him again. "Ah here, Zane Zahard. One of the hardest mortals to bring misery too. If you can push him over the edge then you can be promoted to a demon general."
I felt my eyes light up and I nodded. "Yes sir, I promise I won't fail you." I said as I placed my right hand over my heart and bowed a bit. "You better not." Mason said, crossing his arms. I glared at him before I disappeared into a cloud of fire and smoke.
I popped up into a room with a desk and filing cabinets and rows of books. The library of the living. Everything about everything you need to know about someone. I haven't been here in ages. I looked at a girl who was sitting in a chair in front of a desk that had a laptop on it. She was typing very quickly on the laptop and her eyes were glued on it as if it was the only thing in the room.
"Hey Trixie." I spoke up, taking her eyes off the laptop. She moved her hands away from the keys and cupped them together as she looked up at me from her chair. "Hello Furfur. You know demons aren't allowed here unless they have a mission from any of the three kings." She said as she stood up, leaning over me with a sadistic smile. "I do have a mission, actually." She giggled a bit before she sat back down in her rolling chair. "All that begging finally paid off, huh?"
She said as she pushed herself from the desk to the cabinets. "What's the name of the mortal?" She asked, looking at me from across the small room. "Zane Zahard." I said a little slowly, trying to fully remember if that's what he said. "Zane, huh?" She said quietly as she opened a bottom drawer that managed to stretch out, all the way in the room as if it wasn't made of metal and there is no way it could have normal fit in the cabinet.
I watched her fingers trace past different folders before she stared at one for a moment before pulling it out. She then closed the drawer, watching it all go back into that small black void of the cabinet like a slinky. She then pressed her feet against the cabinet, sending her back to the desk with the spinning chair. She rolled up to the desk and handed me a decently big file.
"Everything about everything you need to know about your mortal." I gently took it as I opened it and began to flip through it. "Dead mother.. abusive father.. few friends.. target at school.." I mumbled, scanning through the document. "This might be easier than I thought." I said closing the file with a grin. "Don't be so sure Furfur, if he's an easy target someone would have gotten him to end it by now." Trixie said as she lowered her eyes and continued to type on her laptop.
I sighed before I disappeared in a cloud of smoke again and I was drifting calmly through the warp to the surface. I watched as many types of demons went from hell, to the surface. It felt nostalgic in a weird way, especially because I've never been to the surface since I died. Someone bumped into me and it sent me spinning a bit. "Sorry 'bout that." He waved off before he fully went down to hell. "hA . . Bump in me again and I'll make you my bathroom rug." I aggressively mumbled to myself, as I'm now left spinning in a travel system.
Once I popped out, I ended up falling flat on my face on a carpeted rug. "Owie . ." I sat up on my knees and held my nose. I looked around for a moment before I spotted the target. He just stared at me with a cup of a clear liquid in his hand as his fox ears hanged low. "Another follower demon, huh? Good luck." He said as he walked down a hallway. "Wait, wait wait!" I shouted as I stumbled to get to my feet. "At least give me a chance to introduce myself properly." I said as I grabbed his arm. He stared at me then shrugged before leaning back on a closed door.
"Okay, uh-" I cleared my throat and stood up straight. "I am Furfur, your personal demon. I'll haunt you until you off yourself." He stared at me before he pointed with the hand holding the water. "You're a Pazuzu follower right?" I blinked a bit surprised, but answered regardless. "You know the name of a demon lord?" He nodded and took a sip from his cup. "Pazuzu has been on my ass as a recruiting method or a long ass time. I'm starting to think he does it to demon followers he doesn't want to rank up." He then waved his hand at me and opened the door he was leaning on and walked in.
"Good luck I guess."
