Hayden's Return

Liam's POV:
Today is a new day. Monroe is still out there, but she's not a threat to us at the moment. I felt good about beating the hunters. I felt fulfilled.

But, it's only a good feeling for so long. Tomorrow, I have to go back to school. School isn't a bad place to be anymore, but... it's still school. Which means no more hunter stress, but tons of school work stress.

I'm lying in my bed right now. All day, all I could think about was the battle. I thought about how crazy it is that Nolan's my friend now. Just a few weeks ago he was kicking my ass.

I thought about how many times I could have died. How many risks we all took. How we not only beat the hunters but also the Anuke-ite.

But, while I was thinking about the battle, my mind kept flicking to one person.

Theo.

He came out of nowhere and saved me in the hospital. We fought together. He fought for me.

Why?

Why would he fight for me?

I pushed those thought to the back of my brain and went back to reading my comic book. About 10 minutes later, my phone started ringing.

It was Mason.

"Hey Mason." I said.

"Hey Liam." Mason rushed out. He sounded excited?

"What's up?" I asked.

"So... me and Corey were just at the school. We were at the library studying, and you'll never guess who we ran into." He said.

"Uhm.. who?" I asked.

"Hayden!" Mason said I little louder.

I froze.

"She's back?!?" I asked.

"Yeah, she said she was there to get her locker and gym locker set up for the year." Mason explained.

"Wait, she'll be at school tomorrow?" I asked.

"Yeah! Isn't this great?" Mason asked.

I thought about it for a second. It surprised me. I haven't thought about Hayden in a long time. I'm excited to see her but I don't think I'm prepared to see her.

"Yeah." I said with a laugh.

"Ok, good. Well I gotta go. I just wanted to let you know." Mason said.

"Okay, well thanks Mase." I said.

"No problem, bye Li." He said.

"Bye." I said before ending the call.

I took a deep breath. Hayden's back. Hayden. Hayden is back.

I couldn't wrap my head around it.

I'm gonna see Hayden. Tomorrow.

What am I gonna say?

Okay, I'm gonna figure this out tomorrow. For now I need to sleep.
