*Authors Note: Sorry for switching up the POV! I'm working on making this into an actual fanfic with more than just smut lmao.*
It was hard to calm myself down after that encounter I just had with Luke. Goddamn, it was good though. He managed to make me forget about everything going on, even if just for a bit. He even said he loves me! I could feel my heart racing as I headed back into Howe's. Dusk was near and I come back to see all of the group talking around the campfire. As I get closer, I can tell they're arguing. Fuck, here we go. "'Cause we all know what happened this morning! I don't know what that son of a bitch is gonna do next!" I hear Kenny yell as I sit down with them. Damn, I almost forgot about what happened to Reggie... Poor bastard.
Mike is the first to respond to him. "So you wanna ring the dinner bell for a herd of walkers to show up? How is that better?" Kenny is quick to reply. "'Cause this place'll be fuckin' chaos when that thing hits! No one'll be payin' any attention to us. And that's when we go. That's our opening. We just gotta figure out a way to draw 'em to us." Rebecca looks over to me and tries to explain what's happening. "Your friend here wants to get us killed by lurkers before Bill can do it." I don't have time to make an input as Kenny looks at her with a glare. "What is it with you?" She glares back and says loudly, "That's what it sounds like to me!" The sass is real. Sarita goes to defend Kenny a second after. "You know that's not what he's saying. But... it does sound dangerous."
The couple argue for a few seconds before Clem decides to speak up. "Maybe Luke could help us... he's outside. He wants a radio to help keep an eye on the guards." Huh, guess Luke managed to talk to her as well. Rebecca looks relieved at this information. "Thank you! That's the plan I vote for." Clem looks surprised as she asks the group if we knew about him being here. "He flagged us down when Troy wasn't lookin'. Told us the plan... Mentioned he talked to you and [Name]." Mike says, giving me a suspicious look as he finishes his sentence. Guess he's still skeptical about me. I feel put on the spot as they ask what Luke told me, probably expecting some more information on a plan to get us out. Trying my best not to be too obvious, I respond. "H-He didn't really say much. Guess he wanted to let me know he was here to get us out, that's all."
Kenny looks almost... annoyed? Could he tell I was lying? "Yeah well, it ain't no secret how he feels about you, darlin'. Wouldn't be surprised if he came back just for you." The group seemed to be offended by his comment. After all, Luke was their family too. I can feel the tension rising as I stand up. "He's here for all of us, I'm sure!" My face felt hot all of a sudden. Fuck, why am I scared about everyone finding out about Luke and I? Especially Kenny, knowing him and Luke aren't exactly 'best friends'. Said man raises an eyebrow at my outburst, but decides not to respond. Thank God. I hate awkward tension.
The group resumes talking about the plan to get radios and how to get the herd here. I zone out and notice my legs feel like jell-o.Guess I can thank Luke for that. Deciding to go rest a bit, I tell the group I'm going to lie down. Kenny asks me if I'm okay, obviously trying to look out for me. I smile and tell him I'm fine before I join Nick in the very uncomfortable bunk beds. As I feel myself drifting off, I hear his voice. "He really likes you, ya know." Opening my bleary eyes, I face him. He's looking up at the bottom of the bunk bed, arms behind his head. "Ain't never seen him like any girl like he does you. You're special to him. To all of us, of course." Nick turns to me with a smile I can only describe as genuine kindness. "Really?... That, uhh... makes me feel good..." I trail off, unable to stop the big smile forming on my own face. Nick laughs quietly and turns away. "Hope they can get us a way out. Maybe you and Luke can sort through whatever you're goin' through a bit easier. Well, tomorrow's gonna be a hell of a day. Best get some shut eye." He concludes, getting ready to sleep. I look at him fondly as I reply. "Thank you, Nick... I mean it." He flashes me a grin and soon closes his eyes.
"Don't mention it. G'night, [Name]." My head falls back into the pillow as thoughts of Luke consume my mind, allowing me to drift into a peaceful state. "Goodnight, Nick."
