Ms. Darling was waiting for them by the cliffside. Her eyes were focused on the island towards the horizon that was barely in their line of sight. She seemed determined, yes, but also tired and melancholical. Ben realises she must have been fighting for a very long time to keep her secret, and all the pain involved with it, inside herself, barely able to talk to someone about it. Not even when her own daughter was standing in front of her in her first class like a villain.Ben quietly approaches her with Phillip and the villain kids behind him. But before they could reach her, someone else was walking towards Wendy and hugging her in comfort. "Is that.." Evie starts, her voice trailing off as she tries to digest the sudden appearance of the woman. "... Rapunzel?" The art teacher and Ms. Darling part from their embrace and turn to the group. "Hello, everyone," Rapunzel responds kindly.
"Not to be rude, Princess Rapunzel, but why are you here," Ben questions. Rapunzel glances at Wendy and smiles. "Wendy has been my friend for a long time. I have been beside her every step of the way from the moment she told us about Pan and the threat he posed." Wendy steps in to add to her story. "When I heard that Pyper applied to be in the art class I asked Rapunzel to keep an eye on her. I.. If I'm to be honest, I wasn't sure what to think of her when I first met her. But when Rapunzel told me about her imagination, her skill.. I began to feel closer to her than ever before. Like I knew her." A feeble smile graces the teacher's face as she thinks back to that beloved moment a few months prior.
Carlos takes a step closer to the teacher. "But why did you never come closer or get to know her? Here in Auradon you had all the opportunity to do so," he wonders aloud. Wendy looks the boy into his dark eyes. Her face contorts into one of sadness. "Don't you think I noticed what she thought of me? Wendy Darling, the one who betrayed Neverland and its whole ideology by growing up. She despised me, just as Peter taught her to. He knew there would be no greater torture to me than having my own daughter resent me. Telling her the truth would have only made her more mad. Leaving her in the dark was the only option I had." Wendy takes a big gulp of breath and stares at the island again. "But now.. it's time I win my daughter back."
She digs into the pocket of her jeans and her hand reappears, clutching something tightly. The red haired woman parts her fingers until only her thumb and index finger surround the part of the vial where it slims down towards the opening. Stored inside the vial was a sparkling green substance. Uma and her two pirates share a glance while the captain raises an eyebrow. The sight of pixie dust wasn't knew to them. They knew Pyper too as children. When Uma and Mal were still friends, the daughter of Ursula would see Pyper and Antoinette quite often too.
The Isle of the Lost may not have had magic, but Neverland still did. The entire reason that King Beast didn't kill Pan or imprison him on the Isle like he did with the other villains was because the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up was tied to the island. With Pan cut off from Neverland, the island's magic would die and a great source of magic would be gone. People who used magic had to draw power from somewhere, from powerful outlets of magic such as Neverland or other magical locations. It didn't mean they had to be close to a certain place to use magic, but that a place such as Neverland had to exist if you wanted to use magic.
