Kokichi woke up sandwiched in between all of the pillows and Mikan. "Since when did I have so many pillows in the dorm" Kokichi muttered. He tried to get up but Mikan held onto him tighter and Patches scratched his legs through the blanket. It looked like she wasn't happy to be awakened from her slumber. "Patches, what are you doing on the bed?"

The purple haired boy tried to squirm himself out of the kind of cage he was locked in but to no avail, the world had decided to suffocate him with hugs and pillows that morning. "Alright, that's it, get your lazy asses up before I kick you out!" Mikan got up much to her dismay. That seemed to do the trick.

-------

The doorbell rang. "Who in the name of whatever force is controling this world is here at-" Kokichi paused to look at the clock "- eight thirty in the morning! You can't just call someone before 10am that's just plain rude!" Mikan snickered going to open the door.

"O-oh, hi S-Saihara-kun-" Kokichi perked up at the name. He dashed towards the door with his uniform half on, accidentally pushing Mikan who fell onto the floor with a yelp. Kokichi muttered a quick sorry and pulled er back onto the floor. Mikan patted his head and told him to be more careful before walking off.

"Hello Shumai, why are you here so early in the morning? Oh, are you here to kill me? That would be such a bad plan now that I have Mikan with me, you would be exposed in a second! But maybe everyone would trust you when you told them that you didn't do it. After all if I find you trustworthy, then everyone else should think of you as the same. But maybe that's a lie! Haha, your look at your face, you're so fun to mess with! Anyways, what are you doing here?"

Once Shuichi found his voice again, he answered. "Uhm well, I just thought of bringing your cat a little treat." He said, gesturing to the bowl of milk on his hands." Kokichi smiled, putting his hand over his mouth to hide his laughter. "Wha- Is there something wrong?" Kokichi waved his other hand, wiping a tear from his eye.

"No, no, it's actually very kind of you to think about bringing a treat to Patches but it's not recommended to give milk to cats, they might become lactose intolerant in the future." Kokichi explained. Shuichi flushed in embarrassement. "Well, now I feel kind of stupid.. I should go." The detective said, turning around. Kokichi caught his arm, making him stop.

"No wait, it was not stupid, I know many people who made that assumption, one of my old cats almost died because of it but fortunately he was fine. Anyways, you can come in, let's talk and play cards until breakfast!" He said, eager to play poker and blackjack with new adversaries.

Shuichi noticed the shine in Kokichi's eyes, something that almost never happened. Maybe that's what made him agree to it. "Sure, let's go."

"Yay!" Kokichi partied, throwing his arms in the air like a child. Shuichi forgot how Kokichi was one of the youngest in the killing game. Probably with how he acted so maturely with his own touch of childishness during the trials and basically everything.

They walked into the room, Kokichi closing the door. He mentioned towards the bowl, asking Shuichi to give it to him. "Why do you want the bowl Kokichi?" Shuichi asked.

"Well, it's milk and you should not waste it, so if I find dango I can mix em' up and make dango milk and if I don't then I can always just mix it with panta and give it to someone and watch them vomit their insides out!-" Shuichi visibly cringed at the thought, Mikan rolled her eyes, used to these kinds of thoughts coming from her brother. "-or simply giving them a really bad stomach ache and sending them to Mikan." Kokichi said happily, twirling and spining around like a girl in middle school with a crush.

"You shouldn't have those kinds of thought Kokichi, they're quite graphic.." Shuichi comented, a bit concerned with Kokichi's mental health. (Haha, it's already gone off the window years before).

"Blah, blah, blah. Can we go play cards now?" Kokichi asked. "I-I thought your favorite g-game was the k-knife game. What h-happened to it?" Mikan asked from where she was sitted on the floor, already organizing the cards for a round of Poker.

"It's the same. The only thing that matters to me is the feeling of gambling your life, something so dear to you! Wouldn't you miss a finger if you accidentally cut it off? Wouldn't you be scared if you owed your life to someone because yo lost it all? that's the thrill I'm looking for! Unfortunately there isn't much to do here except for waiting for someone to die or to kill you."

Shuichi looked quite disturbed, he was really worried for Kokichi's sanity and mental health. "Anyways, let's go play!" Kokichi said, plopping down on the floor. Shuichi did the same, waiting for someone to teac him the rules. "Ok, I assume you have never played Poker Shumai, let's start with the rules. To win you basically have to"

-------

"Rise and Shine Ursine!" It had been 7 rounds of Blackjack and 9 of Poker. They had started off with quick rounds as Kokichi always won them but they quickly developed into longer ones as Shuichi adapted to the game.

"Wow! It's already this late?" Kokichi said, stretching his arms above his head and yawning after winning Another round of poker. "Forget about that. How do you always win!? When did you develop a perfect poker face?" Shuichi questioned, to invested on the game to care about the morning announcement. "Hah, you're good too Saihara-chan. Don't beat yourself to it." Kokichi said, trying to confort his friend. Mikan had gone out exploring and said that she would be back about five minutes after the morning announcement sounded.

Shuichi sighed, setting his cards on the floor and taking a poker chip from Kokichi's mount. "Yeah but I only managed to tie with you once and it was like you were trying to make the game easy for me without letting me know. How are you, a sixteen year old highschooler, two years younger than me, an almost adult, so good at Poker, something minors aren't allowed to play? I'm sure that it's not through online games that you get good at casino games."

Kokichi said nothing, simply staring staring at his hands that were set on his lap, the same poker face that he had on minutes ago while playing as he kept on thinking about a plausible lie to tell Shuichi.

Understanding that he hit a fuse, Shuichi tried to apologize. "Kokichi, I'm so-" He was interrupted by Mikan entering the room ruuning, triping on something and falling face first onto the mattress. "I-I didn't take m-more than five minutes r-right?" 'Is this what it means being saved by the bell?' Kokichi thought. "No you didn't Mikan." "G-good." She said, her voice muffled by the mattress.

She got back up. "L-let's go eat b-breakfast!" She said, putting her hands on her hips. She was dressed in her nurse uniform, bandages and all. Kokichi seemed oposed to the idea but did not try to contradict his sister as to not spark more questions with Shuichi. Mikan nodded, smiling. "L-let's go!"

Kokichi got up and followed his sister out. "You comin'?" He asked Shuichi. "Yeah!" He got up and followed them. He was sure to ask Mikan things about her brother when he could get her alone.
