Chapter 5: turn of events

Silence.

Nobody said a word for some seconds, which seemed like minutes.

Did Iris really try to leave the place? Is that why she was so much against the idea of the others leaving? Why did she never mention it?

''Huh-'' Kyrie spoke loudly, before they covered their mouth quickly, noticing they spoke it out loud. They all just stared at Iris in shock. ''And you just now mention it?'' Cypher spoke. He was not afraid to say what was on his mind, no matter what situation he or others were in.

Of course, he was still cautious of his words. But he always managed to continue a conversation.

''The subject was never brought up.'' Iris answered him blandly, before she shrugged her shoulders. ''How were you able to escape?'' Melian asked.

By Iris revealing that she had once herself tried to escape from the camp facility, her interest grew bigger. She wanted to leave the place no matter what, which she & the rest of her friends clearly knew about. ''It's dangerous, I'm not going to tell you how.'' Iris spoke.

''Well, if it had worked you would clearly not be here right now.'' Melian spoke. ''Which means, the plan had failed,'' She added to her first sentence, before she leaned forward in her seat, now whispering. ''Could you not tell us about the plan then? I mean, it's proven that it didn't work anyways.'' She asked.

Iris was questioning herself. She didn't know if she should tell the others about how she had escaped.

''It's kind of easy to tell how she tried to escape.'' Cypher added. Just then, almost all their heads turned to face him. Except for Liandria, who was eating her pancakes. ''How?'' Kyrie asked, growing curious their self now.

''It has to do with Diablo's hair, we figured out that much yesterday.'' Melian spoke, answering Cypher's question, which he was probably about to answer himself. ''Wait- Don't tell me you were planning on getting a few strands of Diablo's hair?'' Isiah asked. Finally, he said something in the conversation his friends had, which was almost one-sided, considering it was mostly Melian & Iris talking.

Cypher looked over to Isiah, a small smirk appearing on his face. He was proud that he had a hold of Diablo's hair. And, as they had discussed yesterday, he was going to test if he could leave through the barrier that Diablo had set all around the camp.

Truth be told, people were able to leave & enter, even with Diablo's permission. But none of the friends had ever gone on a mission which involved getting outside the camp, as they all thought so.

''You guys are crazy.'' He spoke, while he lowered his head into the palm of his hand, almost face-palming before he left out a small laugh. ''Props to that, though.'' Isiah spoke. Iris instead just rolled her eyes, before her hand got entangled in Kimera's hair again, slowly stroking it.

It was questionable how she hadn't woken up yet.

''But, you have my help if needed.'' He said, leaning back in his seat. Hearing those words made Melian's face light up. ''Really?'' She asked with a bright smile as she had turned to face the boy who was sitting next to her. ''You'd do that?''

''Of course I would, who else would take care of you guys anyways?'' He spoke. ''You know- we all have powers, right?'' Liandria asked just after she had swallowed her last bite, before she grabbed the water cup in front of her & took a few sips out of it. ''So?''
