It's a trait, a personality quirk
There's nothing special about
desperately trying to scrape the dirt
out from under my fingernails
from when I went out into the garden two days ago
Because I know what it might entail
AIDS, HIV, HepC and more
I scraped until my fingertips
bled and tore.
And even still the thought
Made my knee bounce and my eye twitch
It's not a personality trait
To have a scratch that you cannot ever itch
