A grunting noise woke me up. Miles was shuffling around on the floor.
"You're clearly uncomfortable Miles, just admit it."
The shuffling stopped.
"I'm fine." He replied.
I opened the side table drawer and dug for the flash light. I grabbed it and immediately shined the light on Miles.
"Oh god, April!" He covered his face with his pillow.
I looked at his sleeping situation and it was pathetic. He was using the big chairs cushion as a "mattress" and used a small blanket that only covered his chest.
I laughed. "Oh my gosh, stop trying to be macho."
"Shut off the light please."
Oh right, "sorry." I clicked it off.
"And I'm not being macho." He muttered.
"You're right, you're not." I laughed.
Even in the dark I could tell he rolled his eyes.
"We can just share the bed tonight." I said. It slipped out.
"...would you really be okay with that?" He rubbed his eye.

I thought of my mom. I imagined her looking at me. She would not be happy with my decisions from the last few days and I do feel guilty. But right now I don't care. Because we're both tired, we have a quiz in English tomorrow, and he has track practice. He deserves a good night's sleep. So I pushed the guilt aside.

"Just get up here." I moved to the right.
Miles slipped under the covers.
We laid there silent. The longer the silence went on the more awkward it felt.
"You better not snore." I said.
He rolled over to face me. "No promises." He grinned.
"If you do I will suffocate you with a pillow."
"Geez that got dark very fast."
I laughed, a little too loud, because I thought I heard Brandon stir.
"We cannot let Brandon wake up. He will be such a pain." Miles whispered.
We both watched as Brandon shifted on the couch for a few moments then settled again. I thought we were in the clear, until he made the weirdest noise I've ever heard. It was a mix between a sigh, moan and...hiccup? I covered my mouth in an effort to quiet my laugh. Miles shushed me multiple times.
"April stop you're gonna make me laugh." He shoved me. "Shut up."
But that only made it worse. I was about to burst when he threw his pillow over my face and smushed me.
I stopped laughing once I couldn't breath. I slapped the back of Miles' hand to let me free.
He lifted the pillow off my face and I was still smiling. He was too.
"That. Was. Amazing." Miles whispered.
"My goodness that noise was almost impressive. I bet Kali hasn't heard that one yet."
This time Miles threw the pillow over his own face muting his laugh.
"Okay shush! Miles we need to sleep." I said affirmatively.
Miles snorted one more time before saying, "yeah yeah, goodnight April."
He put the pillow back behind his head and rolled onto his side, facing away from me.
Good. I don't think I could sleep if he was facing me.
"Night Miles." I whispered.
I pulled the covers up to my nose and thought, oddly enough, about whether or not I had put deodorant on before getting in bed.
After much debate I ended up getting up and putting some on just in case.
