So when someone is old fashioned and needs to get with times, they could use a hand. Which brings us to a modern ship girl little romance.
Enjoy.

Mikasa was the one in charge of the heavy duty office cleaning. She did the important rooms such as the Captain's Quarters, the ball room, and other main places of the buildings. Mikasa was the best because her ways were the best. Maybe old fashioned to many, but there were some of her ways that were better. Wiping surfaces with clothes that got washed periodically was better and had less chemicals. A good broom was good to help get rubbish out of corners. And she had a vacuum cleaner that she had used for the longest time. Until one day-
Mikasa was focused on getting the carpet cleaned in the Captain's Quarters. He was coming back tomorrow after his business voyage. When suddenly she realized that the dust from the carpets was going everywhere. The bristles on her broom were going in nearly every direction imaginable. This was an important job. To have the honor of the Commander trusting someone clean his office was a great honor. With that she had to act fast. With that, Mikasa left all of her cleaning materials there in the office an locked it shut. She was off to Inventory to her hands on tools and material. A new broom and while she was it.
There was a man at the desk drinking a bottle of water for the department. He saw Mikasa and put the bottle down. "Hello. I'm (FN). They call me Hank. How can I help you?"
"I need tools and material to clean." Replied Mikasa.
"Alright. What are we doing? Tell me what you got, I'll get a list, and I will bring it right to you once they get the delivery and counts finished. Shouldn't be long."
Mikasa shook her head. "If you insist. But if it is the only way I guess I have no choice. I need to get the carpets swept. I need a broom. Two for good measure. Then some furniture cleaner and rags."
Hank wrote everything down. "Okay. Grab yourself something cold to drink since you've been working hard and I will meet you there. Might even give you a hand."
"Okay. Much appreciated." She bowed. "I'm behind as is."
A broom for the carpet. Of all of the old way is the best way ideas, that one is by far the worst. Wiper, nah. By broom over a vacuum I'm bringing? No way. Let's hope she gets with it.

The time was passing as Mikasa seemed a little worried. Commander back sooner rather than later and she had other tasks. But with Inventory held back there was nothing she could do. She found herself in a chair inside the room with the door unlocked. Drinking some cold water as she looked outside with a little breeze.
There was a knock on the door. "Is anyone in? I have a delivery." Said a man.
"It's open. You may enter." Called Mikasa from inside.
"Sorry it took so long." The door opened and a big box was placed on the floor. "Commander's royalty red carpet need a clean. Let me find a plug for you."
"What for?" She asked.
"I'll make up for lost time." Hank walked the plug over to an outlet. Then he turned on a machine that Mikasa was unfamiliar with. He started walking carefully against the corner of the wall. A small metal unit connected with a hose followed close behind him.
Mikasa heard the loud humming and was beside herself. "What is that?"
"This?" Hank pointed to it. "Vacuum cleaner. Watch this." Hank finished one row of the floor and started the next one. Going slowly and in a line as straight as he could. The difference was night and day. Amazing on how much dust was in a room that looked already clean as it is.
