Last period.

--1:50 p.m--
"You can do this." I silently think to myself as I notice there's only 10 more painfully long minutes of school. I was sitting in my history class which was the only class I had with Michael and not to my surprise, he didn't show up today. Michael rarely came to history but he never came to history on a Monday. I was pretty disappointed considering I only saw him once today, which was when he pulled into the parking lot. He goes through an awful lot of energy to wake up and get himself to school for someone who hardly actually enters the building.

The bell finally wrung, dismissing the entire class for the day. I was unbelievably relieved to finally be able to get out of this horrid place. I put in my headphones to block out my peers, listening to Green Day's infamous album Dookie. I kept my mind wrapped in a thousand irrelevant thoughts on my walk out to Kenna's car.

"Hey loser, how did the rest of your day go?" she called to me as I approached her spotlessly clean Jeep Wrangler.

"Long, boring, useless. The list can continue if you'd like."

"Um, no you definitely have not sold me on that one. Was your little boyfriend in history today?" she asked me.

"What kind of rhetorical question was that?" I laughed. "Of course he wasn't, it's Monday."

"I guess I should've known that one by now." she questioned herself. "So where are we off to on this wonderful afternoon my friend?" she asked me from the drivers seat.

"Can we stop to get some lunch? I'm starving" I asked.

"You got it, where to?" Kenna asked.

"Wherever. Surprise me." I responded as I began to roll down my window and soak in the warm California sun.

I spent the entire car ride dazing off to some fantasy world in my head as I stared at the mountainous scenery outside my window. Kenna was playing one of her favorite the 1975 CDs and the car ride was just the kind of peace and tranquility I needed.

There was no surprise when we pulled up to me and Kenna's favorite cafe on the other side of town, The Cafe. Creative name, I know. Me and Kenna have been coming to this cafe for god knows how long. It's about a 30 minute drive from our town and not many people know of it. It's kind of like our little secret getaway, it was nice.

We ordered our usuals and sat down at our usual table near the window which overlooked the mountain we were on. I sipped on my coffee and scrolled through social media while the soft indie music played throughout the cafe.

I genuinely did try my hardest not to bring up Michael during our little coffee date but I personally just could not refrain myself. But, before I could even find the words to say, Kenna said them for me. She knew me like a book.

"Spit it out Sav, I know you're just dying to tell me all about Michael."

"No matter how long we've been friends, I really don't understand how you know me so well." I said.

"Talent, my friend. Pure talent." she snickered.

"Okay anyways, this stupid kid has honestly been on my mind for the entire day. I don't even understand why I feel this way towards somebody I've never said a word to in my entire life." I explained to her.

"Seriously man, you've never had a bad guy experience. You've had super good luck when it comes to guys so what makes you doubt your chances with this kid?" she questioned me.

"Kenna I genuinely have absolutely no idea! There's almost like this bubble around him that keeps me away. But I promise you there's nothing I want more then to just get closer to him." I stressed.
