Zülfüleyfe, who tossed and turned in her bed all night long opened her eyes with the sound of prayer calls coming from the depths of the city. She looked at the clock placed on the big tree trunk placed right in the middle of her room, supporting the ceiling woods. It was a little past six. Mihca always got up for prayer but it wouldn't be appropriate to go to him at this hour. She knew that she had to sleep for a couple of hours more but it seemed impossible with her current mood.

She was not in the mood to see her master either but her burning urge for learning was rushing her up. She gazed at the books she has already read over and over, thinking that she has to read something for the next hour or so. She had roughly a hundred and fifty books in her library, most of them belonging to her master, Mihca. Only three of them were written by her.

While browsing through her books, she heard a whisper at her door followed by a knock. It was no one else but Sariye. Her room was right next to hers and it was obvious that she was not able to sleep either. This bundle of misery has pulled her to its endless depth as well.

"Come, you couldn't sleep just like me ... right?"

"Yes, Ma'am. I also saw complicated dreams, ones that I could not make anything of"

"Let us wait for a while, then I will bring Mihca's breakfast myself. This way, I would be able to go to him as early as possible. Would it be fine if I bring it around eight?"

"It would be fine; he usually asks for it around that time anyway."

"Alright then" said Zülfüleyfe getting up on her feet. She was moving slowly and getting really tense. She moved her waist to right and left trying to soften the crudeness of her body. She turned to Sariye with one eye shut and said;

"Go to your room and get ready. Move around a little bit as I do so that you would feel better. Later, bring me some food to eat... no, hold on, I will come to the kitchen with you. I'll give you a hand to speed things up and also grab something to eat myself"

Sariye looked at her friend with the same weariness and answered in a weak voice;

"I may not be able to speed up but I am moving on immediately. I'll knock on your door when I am going to the kitchen. If you get ready by then, we will go together."

Sariye left the room and Zülfüleyfe changed her outfit. She thought that the big day has arrived. "Look how I am pursuing a mystery. I wonder if I ever will seek someone like this? This is the most unknown thing for me." she thought.

Meanwhile, she heard two people talking on the balcony side of her room. The daylight was just settling in and she felt uneasy. She went on to the balcony and looked down, seeing her father and the gardener talking. Lost in her deep thoughts she had totally forgotten that her father has early morning walks. He, just like herself, loved the flowers and the garden. He especially wanted the wall side trees to grow up fast in order to disguise the mansion from the curious eyes of strangers.

She overheard some of the conversations where her father wanted the lawn area in front of the garden to be arranged. He was also asking the number of people who would fit into this area. She heard that he wanted a sitting and viewing platform to be constructed united with the balcony in the front side. She heard more than enough to be confused by the time he walked away. Returning back to her room, she considered them to be another set of her father's various ideas, nothing that would interest her. The chilly morning air made her shiver.

Her bed looked warm and comfortable, tempting her to sleep some more but instead, she went to her closet and changed her clothes. Soon after, she heard a soft knock on the door. She was ready and can accompany Sariye to the kitchen.
