"This specific day," thought beautiful Zülfüleyfe, "just the day to reveal all the secrets and unknowns". Among these thoughts she was also asking herself; "is it time?". Sariye, with a headful of thoughts, was gone. Did she do the right thing by sharing her secret with her? She has included one more mind to this endless and complicated set of events. She has pushed her friend into a sea of mystery and darkness where even she, herself was scared of drowning.
It was already late. Sun was almost gone and it was getting darker. Zülfüleyfe stepped outside the balcony and watched the crimson-colored sky created by the sunset over the mountains. This view was on the right side of her balcony since her room was facing north. Her father would probably enter the city from the north-western doors. It will not be possible to be informed about their arrival until they enter the borders of the mansion.
While she was occupied with these thoughts, her father and master have already arrived at the city. Lehtar asked Mihca to wait while he moved further away to meet someone. He was a short, broad-shouldered, and bald man with a long beard. Mihca has not seen him before and he had no idea what the subject was.
Lehtar talked with this man almost for half an hour and just before parting he took a paper from him which he placed in his inner pocket.
As usual, Lehtar was after something and Mihca did question him when he came back by his side. He was a wise man that knew Lehtar would inform himself when the time comes. Before going to the mansion, they questioned a few people in order to update themselves on the things that happened in the city while they were gone. They stopped by the small coffee shop wanting to get some information from old Joep. Old Joep was from a different realm and Lehtar knew him right from the first day of his arrival. He based his life on honesty and simple living therefore did not get involved too much in city events but he was fully informed about them.
This old man informed that there were two murders while they were gone. Just then, Joep's helper brought them hot tea. He even put some sliced lemons with the tea. Mihca loved both the tea and the lemon. Lehtar, who got all the necessary information from Joep even asking him to send a written report, wanted to leave right after drinking his tea. They called for the soldiers and headed for the mansion ordering them to follow both of them from a distance.
Zülfüleyfe was lying on the bed watching the thick wooden planks covering the ceiling. Although she was staring at cut pieces of wood, her thoughts were off wandering the depths of the forest. She was shaken off by the sudden entrance of Sariye into the room and turned to look at her.
"They arrived, Ma'am!"
"Thank god he arrived; the owner of the secret, our secret has arrived," she said quickly getting out of the bed. They left the room together, heading downstairs. They were almost running down the stairs. She directly went to the door opening to the outside watching her father and master dismount their horses and realized how tired they both looked. Her father seemed a little bit demoralized but he smiled when he saw his daughter and opened up his arms for her. Zülfüleyfe swiftly moved to her father and gave him a hug.
"I have missed you like I never did before and I have never waited so eagerly for you to return"
"Why my beautiful daughter? What happened that made you wait so eagerly?"
"Nothing father, I only felt lonely and full of thoughts". Zülfüleyfe's mother suddenly got ill and died four years ago. From that day on, she always felt lonely. Her father thought that she was thinking about her mother when he heard her words. But the real reason was her desire to solve the mystery behind the secrets.
Zülfüleyfe was actually happier to see her master rather than her father. She took her father's hand and turned to her master;
"I missed working with my master Mihca and learning new things".
"My beautiful daughter, both he and I have to rest. We can spend some time with you tomorrow. Furthermore, there have been a few events in the city which I have to look into. Let's gather our things now and go inside to eat."
They all went inside. The table was set so they sat down immediately after washing their hands. Zülfüleyfe's mind was busy with all the things she wanted to ask her master. That was why she was giving short answers to her father's questions wanting to get away as fast as she can. It was not only her father that was aware of this situation, her master was also thinking about her scarce talk. When she was away from her father for some time, she would normally pant on his return desperately trying to narrate every small detail she experienced of why he was gone. Moreover, she was not asking anything about their journey.
Lehtar took his briefcase and asked for his letters after dinner. Then he called for his daughter as he walked to his room with tired steps. He was about to ask something but changed his mind and postponed it to the next day presuming that the matter will take longer. He gave Züfüleyfe a kiss and headed for the stairs. Zülfüleyfe approached Mihca slowly.
"Sir, maybe you should also rest. It is my desire to continue our lessons early tomorrow morning"
"What's up? What is in your mind?"
She smiled to her master; "I can't tell you, it is not the time". Mihca glanced at her as though he knew what was going on. Then he stroked his beard, looking thoughtful.
"Fine my girl, I will also rest. I hope we would be mutually enlightened tomorrow."
Mihca asked Ehzel for a cup of tea before going to his room. He took the teacup together with his bag and went to his room which was just on the right side of the stairs. Zülfüleyfe believed that she has delivered the vital clues to her master and headed to the stairs with a feeling of relief. With the squeaking sound of her second step on the stairs, she turned to Sariye;
"If you wish, come to my room after you finish your chores. Bring along some tea as well, we will chat."
"Of course, Ma'am, I'll be by your side soon," she said and seemed faster in cleaning the table. It was one hour later when Sariye entered her friend's room and saw Zülfüleyfe sitting at the table, writing down something. She closed the door and approached her, placing the two full cups of tea gently on the side of the table. Looking at the paper, she noticed that her friend had randomly scribbled rather than writing something on it. She hugged Sariye, just like a wounded gazelle seeking shelter.
"I wonder what we are going to hear tomorrow, I really want to be enlightened and then leave this matter behind. We keep mentioning time but these thoughts have started to occupy too much of our time."
"I hope everything evolves as you desire. I am tired of seeing you confused and tangled like the lines on this paper".
"Me too my friend, believe me, me too. Tomorrow, when the owner of the secret tells us the details, all the missing parts will be complete. Then we will be able to spend more time with our lovely flowers in the garden"
