"HEY, MAX, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR you," I said to one of my best friends, Max Peters

"HEY, MAX, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR you," I said to one of my best friends, Max Peters.

His dark brown, curly hair was blowing in the wind as we walked to the boxing rink in the building across campus. It's after school, and we were meeting my other best friend, Jace, at the boxing ring for practice.

"I might have an answer so ask away," Max replied, shoving his phone into his jacket pocket.

"You know Amber Cade, right?"

He nodded,"Yes. Why?"

"I need her phone number. We have a presentation due Friday, and I won't be in class the next two days. I was going to let her know, but she rushed out of class once the bell rang. Anyways, I don't want her to do the presentation by herself," I explained as I readjusted my boxing bag on my shoulder.

Max tsked,"I have her old number, but she got a new one which I don't have. Sorry, man. But on another note, are you ready for tomorrow?"

My grip on my bag strap tightened at the thought of tomorrow. "No, but I have to. If I don't show up and testify then he'll get out."

Max nodded,"Well, if you need anything, Jace and I are here for you even if it's just to talk."

I grinned at him,"Aw, how sweet. You really do care about me."

Max shook his head, but he was grinning,"Yeah, yeah. Don't let it get to your head."

"Too late."

And with that, we walked into the practice building. The boxing ring was set up in the middle of the arena and bleachers were all around it for people who want to come watch during practice or matches.

"There you two are!" Jace's voice exclaimed, coming up to us with a smirk. His floppy blonde hair was messy like usually, and his blue eyes looked at me with amusement. "You'll never believe who is here."

I raised an eyebrow, but before he could say anything, I saw her.

Angel Price sat on the bleachers with her little group of friends. She was putting on some lipstick, not paying attention to what her friend was saying next to her.

I groaned,"Great. Just great."

Max and Jace snickered, and I glared at both of them. "Not one word from either of you."

I like Angel. I really do. But just as a person not anything else. We just mess around, and I have told her over and over that I didn't want a relationship or a girlfriend. She even agreed to it every single time.

But then she does the exact opposite. Like for instance, she wanted us to go to prom together last year. And the worst part is she only wanted to go because of the popularity. I think that's also the reason she wants to be my girlfriend.

And now she shows up at every practice unless she has cheer practice or at every match we have. There are times she even wears a shirt with my last name on it at matches even though I told her countless times that I didn't want her to do that.
