Chapter 10: Mysterious Rumbling pt 2

Hey guys! Sorry for not updating in a while, but here is the book anyway.

The Ravenclaws and Slytherins made their way over to Potions class. Alana and Amara were chatting with their fellow Slytherins about Professor Farker. The Ravenclaws were listening in, but soon got bored because they had no idea what it was all about. As the two houses strolled into the room Professor Conty greeted them. They found their seats, which Professor Conty had assigned them a few weeks before. The seating arrangement was one Slytherin with a Ravenclaw. Amara and Evelyn plopped into their seats at their table and seized their potions books. Alana and Elise awkwardly sat next to each other and stared in opposite directions. A fat boy named Gillian Carpenter squished into a seat next to Ricky. He groaned in disgust and rolled his eyes. Gabe sat across from Ricky, and sympathized with what Ricky thought. Wyatt smirked at Ricky.

"Well, today we are learning about the Swelling Solution. Can anyone tell me what it is?" Pow Pow Conty, the Potions Professor said.

Elise, trying to get picked, raised her hand quickly, but Evelyn raised her first. Surprisingly, Wyatt raised his hand as well.

"Well, that's a change." Pow Pow said as he glared at the rest of the class. "Wyatt, you answer the question." "Well, it a Swelling Solution. It a solution to swelling! If you have da swells in yo face, den you splash potion in yo face. Swell go away! PERIOD!" Wyatt said in a funny accent while smiling smugly.

Pow Pow looked dryly at Wyatt, who was still grinning happily, and muttered, "Well great this boy's a cheese doodle. Can anyone else- Elise?"

Elise muttered under her breath, "The Swelling Solution is a potion which causes whatever it touches to swell in size. Its three ingredients are bat spleens, dried nettles, and puffer-fish eyes."

Pow Pow Conty asked, "Wait- could you repeat that?"

Elise screamed, "THE SWELLING SOLUTION IS A POTION WHICH CAUSES WHATEVER IT TOUCHES TO SWELL IN SIZE. ITS THREE INGREDIENTS ARE BAT SPLEENS, DRIED NETTLES, AND PUFFER-FISH EYES. NOW WILL YOU LEAVE ME ALONE!?"

Professor Conty looked taken back for a moment, then said, "Very well. Here are the instructions so you can make the Swelling Solution. First one to get the potion right gets 20 points to their house and a special surprise."

He quickly scrawled the following on the whiteboard:

Brewing Instructions

Part 1

Add 2 scoops of dried nettles to the mortar.

Add 3 puffer-fish eyes to the mortar.

Crush into a medium-fine powder.

Add 2 measures of the crushed mix to your cauldron.

Add two tablespoons of water to the powder in the cauldron and mix them together.

Heat on a medium temperature for twenty minutes.

Add some more water to the cauldron and stir the mixture carefully.

Wave your wand.

Leave to brew and return in 60 minutes (depends on the type of cauldron used).

Part 2

Add 1 bat spleen to the cauldron.

Stir 4 times, anti-clockwise.

Heat to low for 30 seconds.

Wave your wand to complete the potion.

Wyatt whispered to Gabe and said, "I bet you 3 galleons Evelyn or Elise will get the points. Win-win either way!"
