Percy

"Annabeth?" I called.

I was starting to get worried. Annabeth had disappeared awhile ago and I hadn't noticed until now, and had to leave soon since only had four days to find the others and find where Kronos was.

Of course, we would have had more time if Annabeth hadn't made me stop. I'd tried to tell her I was fine, but she wouldn't listen. I never could win an argument with her.

I wandered into the trees, looking for her. "Annabeth!" I stopped at a clearing, and right there stuck in one of the trees, was a few strands of her blonde hair.

I started to get worried. "ANNABETH?!" I called louder this time, searching frantically for her.

Something caught my eye. A little piece of paper slipped between a crack in a rock. I picked it up.

I'm OK, continue the quest without me.
I will meet you there.

-Annabeth

That was all it said. No, "sorry for leaving and worrying you and Calypso" or, any hint of where she went.

Something worried me. I couldn't quite place it, but something was wrong with the note.

If only I had known sooner, maybe what happened later wouldn't have.

***

It hit me when me and Calypso were miles away from the island. All the letters on the note we're spelled correctly. Annabeth had dyslexia, she couldn't have written that note. Which meant...

"We have to go back, Annabeth didn't write that note." I said.

"What." Calypso asked. "Then who-"

"I don't know, but all the letters were spelled correctly, Annabeth couldn't have written it."

I turned back, but the island was gone. It was like it was never there.
