Infinite was hesitant to let the ruby go, but he knew he couldn't trust himself for any longer with such a weapon of power. G.U.N. had recovered it from one of Eggman's abandoned bases, presumably forgotten or cast aside for its imperfections, and the R&D team had fine-tuned it to match the anomaly's frequency and override it.

The jackal met with his squad in the main weaponry unit as they returned any borrowed gear they had used during their daily missions, and chatted about the events that had happened earlier to F.V.R.

"I'm glad Juke finally got what was coming to him," Mathilda scoffed. "Snow, too. Those idiots deserved more of a pummeling, though, if you ask me."

"Do you guys remember the Diamond Cutters?" Infinite inquired, and they all gave him hesitant looks.

"Sort of." Jay shrugged. "They had the fancy sniper rifles and those little alien-looking things that followed them around. Why?"

"There was a wolf alongside Shadow and the others, she looked really familiar. She had a mask like theirs, but she was alone, so I couldn't really tell if she was one of them," he paused and glanced up as Shadow casually walked past them. "Hey Shadow, who was the honey-colored wolf hanging out with you guys?"

"She said her name was Whisper. Used to be in a team with Mimic," he answered, his strut not pausing in the slightest.

"Ha! It was the Diamond Cutters!" The jackal was triumphant. "I thought they seemed familiar."

"Did they break up recently?" Derek called, making the Ultimate Lifeform stop and give them a sidelong look.

"The Diamond Cutters are dead," Shadow blatantly replied. "Whisper and Mimic are the only two left. And it was Mimic who betrayed them and led them to their demise."

The jackals watched him turn and walk away in dumbfounded silence. Aaron huffed quietly.

"Nutmeg's going to reform him, apparently." The Head of Guard's gravelly voice startled them, and they turned to see Wilkes in the doorway.

"In F.V.R.? But wasn't the building damaged?" Infinite asked incredulously.

"She said she had some plans for him, but she refuses to elaborate until tomorrow. However, she did say that those plans included you, Infinite. They included Shadow, as well. And, they included Eclipse."

The black hedgehog looked over from across the room. "Hell no."

"Wha-? Who's Eclipse?" Mathilda gushed, excited by the hedgehog's discomfort.

"I guess we'll just have to find out tomorrow," Infinite replied slyly, glancing with a knowing smirk in the brooding hedgehog's direction.

"I'm sure whatever Nutmeg has planned will be interesting."
