Worse than expulsion

My name is Hazel and I'm not gonna lie, I've made mistakes. But what do you expect I'm a seventeen year old girl, I'm supposed to make mistakes. However I didn't crash a car or throw a party. Nope the mistake I made was passing the test and getting put into the smart people school. Now I don't get to see my friends, and this school's work doesn't challenge me either. My adoptive parent is really cool, and my "brother" Jeremy is awesome and two years older than me. My boyfriend well he's totally hot...and totally nonexistent! Yup I am single and ready for Pringles. Moving on my biggest secret in the whole world is that I'm a witch! That and I'm a virgin, hey a girl has to keep that to herself! So yeah that's a wrap on my life!

Now that you know some things about me allow me to continue with my day, and explain how it came to hell.

The sun rose and the warmth and love I felt woke me up-nah I'm just joking.
I woke up to my adoptive "mom" Janet screaming at me to get my ass downstairs, or I'll be late for school.

I sigh and holler downstairs "I'm coming, hold your horses! I'm just putting on my shoes!" As you can tell I hail from the south, Texas to be exact. However that's not where I live now.
I pull up my ripped jeans and tie my shoe laces, before walking downstairs. When I arrive at my destination however, there is no one there. I shrug it off and fix me some toast. Once I made it and the butter is slightly melted and calling my name, its ripped from my hands.

"Jeremy give it back," he laughs and holds it up from me. "No way Haze I want some." he starts to bring it to his mouth when I punched him in the stomach. He groans and I grin with delight. I grab the piece of toast giddily while he glares at me.
"Hey, not my fault." I say innocently while biting into the buttery goodness. "You should know by now not to steal my food. We have been living together for the past three years, ya know."

He grimaces "Yeah I know, I have the date marked as the day my life was ruined."
I chuckle "Aw come on, you know you always wanted a baby sister." I tease. "Yeah in the hopes she'd be all innocent and cute." he sits next to me rubbing his stomach, "Not using me as a punching bag." I laugh and am about to tease him some more, when Janet walks in with pride on her face. "Hazel, you've just been accepted into Advanced Honors Tribule."
I should feel pride, but all I feel is regret and anger. So my response reflects that as I say "Darn it all to hell." and I continue eating my toast.

They look at me like I've lost my mind. after a few seconds of silence and confusion Janet says "Care to elaborate?" I huff dramatically as if this is the worst possible thing in the whole world.
"Fine. So, Jeff and Stacy dared me to climb on top of the school roof, and when I said no they dared me to take that aptitude test for all the nerds and the geeks to be transferred to AHT, and pass it. So I took it and got an A plus but I was thinking that cause of my record, they wouldn't even look at my form."

Long story short when I first came to the Greyer's house I didn't want to be here so I caused problems. Janet almost gave me back a few times. But, after a year I warmed up to everyone, and they were stuck with me.
Janet sighs "Haze those two are always getting you into situations you can't get out of, like going to Advanced Honors Tribule."
I gape at her openly "You can't be serious Janet, I won't have any friends there! My reputation would be ruined and even I can't beat up enough people to keep them from talking. Come on this is worse than expulsion!" I say reasonably before I realized how whiny that sounded.

"Well, maybe you need some new friends." She puts her hands to her hips and stomps the floor while saying this. I knew she wasn't gonna let up on this and that frustrated me so much I could almost feel my colorful electricity crackling.

I don't want to hurt her so I attempt to push down the electric and grunt each word out "Okay, I'm gonna walk to school and clear my locker." then I escape through the kitchen door.

I go straight to the grain mill that no one uses any more, because of a faulty water pipe that flooded the place and ruined everything. As soon as I shut the door I let it out.

The colors dance all over my body, blue, pink, purple and many other colors. They fuse to my skin, transforming it from a pale tan to a mixture of all the colors. My eyes tingle with zapping electricity, and I know they too are changed from their sparkling green to many other beautiful colors.
I reach my hand out and a small pile of debris is colored and flies into the old wall, and makes an explosion of color and ecstasy that only comes when I do magic.
I sigh, and calm down. I start walking to the high school to get my stuff. While walking I silently scold myself for blowing up like that. that was too close. As I get older I have more bursts like that where I have to go to the mill to make sure no one knows.
I'm worried one day I'll slip up, and someone sees my magic. Or even worse, I end up hurting someone. I shudder at the thought of that day approaching, silently and deadly.

/AN- so whoever would like to read this I will try to get out a new chapter every 2 days, but in a month when school starts again it'll be a week. I'm honored you chose to read my book thanks =)\
