Chapter 11- Naming of the Champions

Marigolds POV

I was so confused after Lily's visit. Although she was a ghost she brought information as to why I am receiving these powers. But that still didn't ease my mind, after resting in the safe arms of Severus, I was ready to go upstairs, I changed into an all black corseted dress and purple robe. I redid my hair in long cascading curls. 

Severus came out of the dressing room in tailored black suit with a long coat. He put his black robe on and offered me his arm.

"Ready sweetheart" he said.

"I guess" I replied as I took his arm. We walked up to the Great Hall arm in arm. As we entered we made our way up to the front with the rest of the staff. The goblet of Fire was sitting in the middle of the room. 

Once all the students were assembled. The room was ablaze with chatter. It was getting close to the time that the naming would happen. I watched as Albus went to the middle of the room.

"Sit down, please" he began . "Now the moment you have all been waiting for, the Champion selection."

As he approaches the Goblet, a hush goes over the room. The blue flame glows red and a name comes out. Everyone looks on anxiously.

"The Durmstrang champion is.....Victor Krum" Albus announces.

As the Durmstrang crowd applaudes and second name comes out of the fire.

"The champion from Beauxbatons... Fleur Delacour" Albus alerts.

As the Beaubatons girls cheer, Fleur walks up to the front of the room as another name comes flying out.

Albus grabbed the name from the air and announced "The Hogwarts champion... Cedric Diggory."

All the Hogwarts students cheer and Cedric goes and joins the other champions.

"Excellent! we now have our three champions! But in the end only one will go down in history. Only one will hoist this chalice of champions, this vessel of  victory the tri-wizard cup! " Albus says. 

Everyone cheers, but the goblet begins to glow red, its flames get higher then ever. And two small pieces of paper come flying out. Albus grabs the closest one and looks at it, in disbelief. "Harry Potter" he says quietly. "Harry Potter" he yells.

I watch as Hermione pushes Harry forward. He looks at me surprised. I nod my head. Harry slowly walks up as Albus grabs the other piece of paper. He turns and looks at me and says "Marigold Evans Snape" 

I nod my head at him I listen as i hear students gasp "He's not seventeen, he's a cheat" "She's a teacher thats not fair."

I walk forward with Severus close behind me. Harry and I join the other Champions in an adjacent room. As albus bursts in he goes to harry and grabs him. "Harry, did you put your name in the Goblet of fire?"

"No sir." Harry stammered. 

"Neither of us put our names in it Albus" I said. "It was some other power. For some reason we are meant to compete."

"This is uncalled for, obviously they cannot compete." Madame Maxime argued. 

Barty Crouch stepped forward. "They will compete, The rules are absolute, the goblet of fire  constitutes a binding magical contract. Mr Potter and Mrs. Snape have no choice, as of tonight they are tri-Wizard Champions."

Everyone looks around, an explanation needed to be told. Severus and I would speak with Albus privately. After everyone left, I went to talk to Albus.

"Sir, may we speak to you in your office" I asked. 

"Of course my friends. I expect it is about the events that took place" he says. 

I nodded my head and we all made our way up to Albus' office, I sent Sirius to get  Harry. Once he arrived, I put my hand to their heads and showed them what  Lily's ghost told me. I made sure Remus brought Ron and Hermione up as well so they would be there for Harry.

After I showed everyone, a look of realization came across Albus' face. he nodded at me and smiled. Harry looked confused but a bit at ease also. 

"You all are the closet people to us." I began. 'You must know that for some reason Harry and I are meant to compete in this tournament. We do not want to but there is some higher power that thinks it is imperative that we do.""

Ron went up to harry and apologized for doubting him. I noticed Ron go over to Hermione and hold her hand. She smiled at me and looked a bit shy. I smiled back at her, pleased they were together.

We had 24 days till the first task. I knew what it would be, and would talk over strategies with Severus later. I would look into the others to make sure everyone would be safe in the first task. 

Over the next three weeks I knew things would be different. I heard what the students thought, it wasn't their fault. But most were going to be supportive. I hoped that these higher powers knew what they were doing, it wasn't just my life that was in danger but the lives of the other champions.
