When the car stopped I noticed that we had pulled into a parking spot at a park with multiple baseball fields. When I took a closer glance I noticed Matthew and his high school team, Dematha, among the other teams there. I turned to Molly with a look that could kill.

“What kind of sick joke is this Molly Lynn Ryder?! What is wrong with you, this is the last place I want to be!” I cried.

“Scar I thought this would be a perfect way to help you get over Matt. You can go watch him play and realize you don’t need him at all. Besides he is only jv and we can go looking for cute varsity players. I bet they are ten times better than Matt.” she exclaimed.

“Do we have to?” I asked.

“Yes, now get our hot ass out of the car and let’s go!” she screeched.

I reluctantly followed her and sat down among the other fans. We watched all of Matt’s game and I know he knew I was there because he kept looking over from the catchers mound every few minutes right at me. After the game Molly and I were talking when I noticed Matt walking over to us. I really was not in the mood to hear him apologize yet again and make up some shitty excuse why he cheated on me and why he wanted me back. I could only deal with it so many times. I quickly told Molly I was going to go to the concession stand, asking if she wanted anything, and then practically ran away.

In my rush to get away, I wasn’t paying attention where I was going and I slammed right into someone. I looked up to apologize but as I looked up I practically swallowed my tongue and no words came out. Staring back at me with a cocky smirk on his face was the hottest boy I had ever set my eyes on. He had perfect brown hair, bright green/hazel eyes, easily 6’4”, and from what I could tell from slamming into him a very muscular body.

“See something you like princess?” he smirked.

That snapped me out of my trance. I hated that nickname. I didn’t like it because it made girls seem weak in my opinion. Besides my current crying sessions I was a strong girl and that nickname definitely didn’t make it seem that way.

“Not really, I’ve seen better.” I sassed back before starting to walk away.

“Wait!” he said grabbing my wrist. I couldn’t really focus on that one simple word though because all I was thinking about was him touching me and that I felt those tingles people always talked about. The ones I laughed at because really that was a load of crap. Guess I was wrong.

Leaning closer, “wow princess is sassy. I like that. Hi, I’m Brett.”

“My name is Scarlet not princess!” I stuttered.

Just then Molly walked up and seemed to do a double take. She then she just gave me a sly grin before saying hey Scar and Scar’s friend and then leaving.

“Nice friend you get there princess. Well I got to go because my game is about to start. Here take my sweatshirt.” He said as he began shrugging out of it. “So I now have an excuse to talk to you after the game when I come to get it back.” He continued.

“How do you know I’m staying for your game? I don’t waste my time watching mediocre athletes.” I winked to let him know I was teasing.

“Oh princess I’m the best. I bet you dinner after the game I am.” He said.

I offered a casual “deal” in his direction before walking away back to our seats and Molly.
