Season 1

Alexia's Pov

I ran through the hospital, almost out the door when I bumped into someone.

"oh my god, I'm so sorry." I apologised.

"no problem sweetheart, but don't you think you should be out of here, with all this?" I looked up at him to realise he was a police officer.

"yes I was on my way out, you should too."

"I wouldn't go that way" he said pointing behind him, "those things that are all over the news are just around the corner, just took out a whole bunch of guys with guns."

"what?!!" soon after about 6 horrid looking people started to limp towards us.

"run. Now" he whisper yelled.

We started to run down the hall and towards the nearest exit, which was down the stairwell.

Once we got outside, my mouth dropped open. The whole army camp had been destroyed and was covered in dead bodies.

I was snapped back to reality when my arm was pulled and I was dragged to a car. A police car.

I got inside and the police officer who helped me got in the other side. "so, miss, whats your name?"

"Lexi Montgomery" I replyed "what's yours"

"Shane Walsh" he winked. We soon drove off towards a house and we parked up in front of it.

Shane knocked on the door and a woman who looked to be in her 30s and a small child opened up.

"Shane? Are you okay? Where's Rick?"

"he was hooked up to all those machines and his heartbeat... There was no heartbeat." he said sadly.

The woman who I assumed was this Rick person's wife started to cry, so did the little boy. I crouched down to him "hey I'm Lexi, what's your name?"

"Carl, what happened to my dad?" he said crying even more?

"um, he was asleep and we couldn't wake him up, but we know that he loves you with all his heart. You'll see him again someday."

The woman looked down at me, "thank you Lexi"

"no worries, anything I can do to help."

"I'm Lori by the way" she said sniffling.

"well I'm sorry for your loss Lori"

She gave me a warm yet somewhat forced smile. I knew how bad she was grieving.

"we have to move, because sooner or later those things, those thangs are gonna be here." said Shane

"ill go grab a few things, Carl, honey will you come help me"

"yes, mom" he replied

As they went off into the house, I turned to Shane "my house is only 2 blocks away. so I guess this is goodbye?"

"what?! No, you're staying with us, and getting to the city!"

"oh, um okay, you, Lori and Carl will go in your car, I'll take mine, extra room if there's more people, or  more stuff."

"good plan."

"I also raided a little of the hospital, if someone gets hurt or bit..."

"good, we need it. I'll go to my house and grab a few bits and pieces."

I nodded and ran to my house, the first thing I grabbed was my car keys. Then I grabbed the photo of me and my parents.

My mom died of cancer when I was a kid and my father lives in Virginia, well lived I guess.

I felt the tears run down my cheeks at the memory of us.

I took my clothes and all the food and drinks I had, I don't know how long we'll be on the road for.

I stepped out and put everything in my car, and parked it in front of Lori's house.

"where'd Shane go?" she asked

"to his house, oh he's coming back now."

He ran towards us as soon as he stepped out the car, "WE HAVE GOT TO LEAVE NOW, WE GOTTA GET ON THE HIGHWAY!" He screamed.

I got into my car and followed Shane's towards the highway.

Once we got there it was jam packed full of cars and people arguing. After a while we got out of our cars, trying to listen to the radio, for information.

Whilst we were here we met a woman named Carol, her daughter Sophia and her husband Ed.

"Well, I'm guessing this isn't going anywhere anytime soon." said Carol.

"no, I don't think so." I replied

We heard a giant bang, and the sound of helicopters flying above us, we walked a little into the trees, and had a good view of the city. Explosions, people screaming and fires.

I'm guessing this is the New World.

So this chapter was over 800 words, I'm hoping that all my chapters can be between 500 and 1000 words long. Unless it's a gap chapter which will probably be 200 to 400 words.
