Blue and green swirled in my vision, the once comforting warmth being a curse now.
89 jumps. That's how many times I've gone through time.
I lost track of time since jump 10, it could have been 2 years or 2 weeks.
Either way, that's how long it has taken for me to fall in love.
As the blue and green faded from my vision, I walked forward automatically.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
On the other side, I saw the familiar poster and bed of my dorm room. A gasp and thump from behind me caused me to turn, staring into the familiar eyes of my leader.
Ava.
I spread my arms, my ripped sweater sleeves showing the bandages and bruises on my arms.
¨ are you going to hug me or not?¨
As I said those words, I was knocked onto the ground and held tightly, Ava sobbing into my shoulder.
¨ we thought you died! Where have you been?!¨ Her words caused me to sadden , realizing that it really has been so long. My team never gives up on anyone, so if they really thought I was dead, then it must have been a long time.
¨ I have been in so many different times, you wouldn't believe me if I told you.¨
She just nodded, lifting herself up and helping me to stand as well.
¨ we have to show you to the team! To the professor! Everyone will be thrilled your back! Then we can go to your favorite time, 2056, right? We will make sure you don't get left again, and we will fix up your watch!¨ Her excitement made me want to go along with the plan, but as I felt the seed packets in my pocket I realized I didn't want everyone to know I was back.
¨ Ava.... I don't want to be a time traveler anymore....¨ in her rambling, she seemed to have barely heard me, but as she stopped talking the look on her face made me almost want to take it back.
Almost.
¨o-oh.. I guess I got so excited that I forgot that you've probably done your fair share of travel, huh?¨ I put my hand on her shoulder, looking her in the eyes. My chest welled up with sadness, my memorys with her and the team flashing through my mind.
¨ I don't want everyone to know I'm back. I want to live my life now, settle down with a nice lady and maybe start a flower shop. There are so little of those, and I've collected so many seeds.¨ I laughed slightly, smiling at Ava as her eyes welled up with tears and she nodded, understanding on her features.
¨ok. Ok. I understand, Colley.¨ she smiled kindly, wiping the tears from her eyes and hugging me one last time. my vision blurred slightly as tears threatened to fall.
¨ here. Give me your watch so I can take the equipment out and fix it. It's such an antique, it would be a shame if you didn't take it.¨ I gently put the cold metal in her hand, its chain swinging back and forth.
¨ promise me something. Promise me you will come and visit? We seem to have a lot to catch up on.¨ she asked, not looking up into my eyes.
¨ of course, Ava.¨ I answered, stepping back from her and letting my hand fall to my side.
I turned away, my mind filled with memorys and my heart dripping in sadness. But, I knew I made the right choice. I had my new life ahead of me, and as I kept my head up, I realized it was just getting started.
( we are almost to the end! one last chapter! I may write some side storys for this one, since I really enjoyed writing this and loved the world I made. I want to explore it, but that will be after I start updating my other storys again. hope you enjoyed!)
