3rd person pov (I tried to make this chapter like an episode, so each * mean a change of scene)
"This is weird" Jemma said.
"What the heck is that" Fitz spelled out loud. "Why did your eyes become gold?" His face made a scrunched face.
"What?!" Daisy nearly screamed.
"Oh Fitz, don't scare her, it's just a copper accumulation"
In that moment Lincoln arrived in the room, he had gone down before she had woken up to grab some coffee.
"And why do I have a copper accumulation in my eyes?" Daisy said scared and squint as Jemma replaced the torch on the drawer in the room.
"A copper accumulation?" Lincoln asked and got immediately closer to Daisy. He stared for a few moments at her eyes.
"So?" everyone was waiting for his opinion as a doctor.
"Those are Kayser Fleischer rings" he waited a few seconds while the other three stared at him puzzled and then continued.
"Yes, they are copper accumulation but... it's a genetic disease, Wilson's disease. Excess copper builds up in all the body and gives brain and liver problems. Between the symptoms you can find itchiness" now he pointed at Daisy's hand which was red because of her scratches. She took a deep breath. "And tremors" and he pointed at her foot which was shaking a bit. "But not aneurysms."
"Well tremors it's kind of a joke cause it's Mack's nickname for me so... but seriously, what does that mean?"
"It means I have no idea what's going on in your body".
Lincoln ran out the room to catch House and report the news.*
"Two rare disease and problems together in the same time? I don't believe in coincidence"
"That may be caused by the Inhuman marker"
"Not that parameter" Lincoln said and went near the whiteboard. "Actually, if we take into account the red blood cell level it appears to be a possible situation. Wilson's disease built up copper in the body, which, in a high stadium of the disease, can create obstacles for blood, it's not common but if you think, if it stores in the veins, blood will not flow in the same way as before. Which, may have caused the aneurysm"
"But it's not at a high stadium"
"Yeah but most important, the Inhuman marker should have prevented that. Since Inhuman blood withstand the Terrigenesis, it should withstand also the copper" continued Lincoln.
"So... what do we have?" said the Australian doctor, whose name was Robert Chase.
For a minute no one spoke, thinking and hoping for someone else to come up with a brilliant idea.
"Go call your friends" said House to Lincoln.
He ran again back to Daisy's room but found only her sleeping with arrythmia.
"Daisy! Daisy!" he screamed. But she didn't answer.
In that moment some nurses arrived and he got out of the room, meeting Jemma and Fitz who said they were searching him.
"Come with me, House wants us with them"
*
They were all staring at the whiteboard, when Jemma broke the ice.
"Well, if that situation is possible in a human body, maybe her system is rejecting the Inhuman marker"
Lincoln looked at her puzzled.
"I mean, maybe her body is trying to heal itself by transforming its blood in a human one, to overcome the disease, which is a human disease"
"But that doesn't have sense, the marker should have stopped the copper, why turn to human blood when you can heal yourself with your own marker?" Lincoln said loud in a slightly angry way. He always supported his species and so he was trying to protect it.
Jemma replied immediately and quickly as if that was an argument: "Well firstly we're not sure about that, and secondly, if you question that, you should also ask yourself from the beginning why did she develop the disease in the first place!"
"Well, it's a genetic disease, there's no reason, it's in your blood!"
This was seriously beginning to look like a fight.
"Let her talk" House interrupted. For a few seconds there was silence but then Jemma spoke, in a quiet way, as if they had just been scolded.
"I was thinking that, if hypothetically her system is trying to work as a human body, well... that's not working. I mean, we can all see that these symptoms, they are really random... firstly, nose bleed, then an aneurysm which made her comatose, after that Wilson's disease and now she is comatose for no reason. Even for an Inhuman body that's totally weird. Maybe these symptoms are just reactions of her body caused by itself, by her system trying to turn into a human system. Maybe an Inhuman body can't overcome this disease." For a few moments she stopped. "So, I was thinking... maybe we can help her body in its quest by..." she took a deep breath, "making an Inhuman anti-serum"
"No, no, no" Lincoln said very anxiously and put his arm in from of him as a sign of stop.
"Lincoln, I know you have always been very distant from this idea, but at least consider it, it's for Daisy's benefit" she said getting closer to comfort him. He was having a serious panic attack, so much that he fell on the ground.
"Lincoln!" Jemma screamed and helped him while the other doctors were getting close to help, too.
A few seconds of quick short breath and he passed out.
*
Lincoln woke up in Daisy's arms, on her stretcher, laying on the other side of it.
"Hey, you" she said softly smiling, holding him like a little baby.
"Dai.. hey..." he replied without breath as if he had just run, with his eyes half closed. Then he became conscious and held her tight to him, in a big hug.
"Oh, thank god you're awake..." Lincoln exclaimed nearly crying, still hugging her.
"Oh, I think he's playing with my body system" she said laughing after take a short breath.
He laughed too.
"I've never been that worried since, you know... yeah also when you bled from the nose, but, I mean, that day when..."
"You don't need to bring that up. What is in the past is in the past"
They both smiled. Daisy put her hand on his cheek and the other on his shoulder and kissed him. She didn't spend a lot of time with him since when they were there, so she missed him very much. He kissed her back, still a bit worried about what Jemma said before but also very happy for her wife.
"I know I got into coma, and so I understand your concern. But... it wasn't the first time, I mean, I went through a lot of problems in these days. So, why did you worry that much?" Daisy asked after pulling away.
Lincoln didn't answer immediately.
"Do you remember, during the first day we were here... when I woke up, that I was... anxious and worried?"
"Of course, still don't get what happened, actually"
"I had a nightmare"
"Want to talk about it?"
Fitz knocked at the door, to check if he had woken up.
"Hey, how are you? What happened before?"
"Just... a personal thing, nothing serious of course. But now I really have to go to the bathroom!"
They all laughed. As Lincoln walked away, Fitz waved to Daisy and left too. Unexpectedly, House got into the room, without knocking before. He just sat on the chair and stared at her, thinking. She was surprised and so asked him something to have a conversation, but he just stared. After some minutes he finally spoke.
"Mary?"
