the first day past and i didn't see much of Abe. he was out working with my father in his office, while i picked oranges from the trees and swam in the pond by our orchards. at around 7 o'clock, we were all called to supper. i sat across from him at the table, making little conversation. " pass me the balsamic will you?" i asked my mother, but Ape passed it to me instead. as he did, his fingers lingered, not for long, but long enough to feel something.
as dinner came to an end my parents decided to open up a bottle of wine and celebrate the new guest to our household. we all sat at the garden table together playing cards. " i didn't realize you you were fluent in english too" Abe said. "well we visit Britain quite a lot, for her grandmother, so we just thought she should experience both cultures" my mother replied. i nodded, and as i sipped from my fathers wine glass.
later on in the evening, as the sun was setting, it was time to end the day. as i was walking back to my room, mother reminded me to help Abe find his own room. i found him rustling with his luggage looking like a lost dog. "mother said i have to help you find your camera de letto" i said to him in the dark, candle lit hallway. "yes, i was wondering where i would go myself " he replied.
