chapter 7: thorough background check

My mom came inside the dinner and I just went to hide in the bathroom. While Kayd stayed in the table. I stood by the door to eavesdrop.

mom: Anyone seen a 16-year-old girl with brown curly hair and green eyes and goes by the name of Serena
Kayd: I think I saw a girl like that walking down the street going that direction
mom: are you sure she went that direction
Kayd: we'll you said the girl had brown curly hair and green eyes
mom: okay we will move that way, whats your name son
Kayd:um.. its... Adams... James Adams

I waited a while in the bathroom until I heard the sirens far away. I went running to Kayd and told him to pay for it so we can run to the camp but that stupid wench took too much time so we just left the money on the table and told her to keep the change. As I ran besides Kayd I could feel the adrenaline rushing trough my veins as my heart couldn't stop pounding for various reasons. What if my mom doesn't believe me? What if she grounds me for life? I can't stand being another second inside my room. We were just seconds from getting to the camp and looks like the counselor called my mom to come since we were "going to get food". We had to move the other way so my mom couldn't see us. I went to the telephone booth that was near the bathrooms and I called my mom telling her when was she coming to pic me up. She told me she was already in the school and that she got a call from the counselor saying I was missing after the counselor said I could get something to eat so check every dinner in the town but didn't find me, I told her I was eating outside the office then I went to the bathroom and I also told her if we could bring a guest home.

She walked all the way to the telephone booth and started asking a ton of questions.

mom: Where we're you?
me: eating outside
mom: outside where?
me: there (pointing to a branch near the lake)
mom: If you where there why did the counselor didn't see you?
me: maybe he came out when I was in the bathroom
mom: well next time make sure you're outside were he can see you or better yet go eat at his office
me: yea sure whatever
mom: lower your tone you are disrespectful
me(sarcastic tone): okay sorry
mom: there you go again
me: sorry
mom: Who did you want to bring home?
kayd: *came out of the bathroom*
me: him (points at him)
mom: James?
me: Who is James?
mom: him (points at Kayd)
Kayd: um... my name is Kayd
mom: weren't you at The Hut?
Kayd: um... I was.... um... with Serena
mom: If you where with Serena what where you doing?
Kayd: um...we... where...
me: *makes signs of eating*
Kayd: EATING, we where eating
me: *face palms*
mom: okay...
mom: Serena care to explain
me(innocent tone): explain what mother?
mom: you know what im talking about
me: do I have to?!
mom: Explain NOW!!!
Kayd: Should I leave?
mom: No
Kayd: okay...
me: well the counselor said we could eat
mom: So, you where at The Hut
me: um... y-y-yes
mom: that's it your grounded and im calling your mother James, Kayd or whoever you are
me: but mom
Kayd: *shrugs*
mom:What's your mom's phone number?
Kayd: its...
mom: I want the real phone number im a cop after all
Kayd: fine it's 839 - 6790
mom: *dials phone*
me: *tries to escape*
mom: don't you dare
me: ughh
mom: yes hello this is Celestia Falax and im Serena's mom and also the new town deputy im calling to let you know that your son escaped camp is this his mom?
mom: this is his grandma?... ohh she died... im sorry... yes I can take him....where do you live?.... we'll be right there... okay.. bye
mom: Both in the car now!
me: okay okay fine

Once we where in the car its was complete silence. I wasn't sure if my mom was going to let me go back to camp tomorrow and if she did what would be the consequences? Would I have to cook for a month or worse clean the bathroom for a month? We stopped on a house that's is really weird its was round and circular like a bubble but it wasn't transparent it was white, white as snow and it was actually snowing just on top of the house. Why wasn't it snowing in the rest of the town? The house had little sparkles that made it glow. Then and old beautiful woman came outside she was wearing white cotton muffs and a beautiful silver dress. Isn't she cold? Kayd took his things and was getting out the car.

me: Is this your house?
Kayd: yes, I know it's embarrassing
me: no. it's really pretty
Kayd: for you but this house isn't really manly
me: haha, well you're right about that
Kayd: well I need to go
me: wait, why is it snowing only around your house?
Kayd: it's not snowing
me:*looks at the house that stopped snowing*
Kayd: well bye
me: bye

My mom started to argue about me leaving the camp but I wasn't in the mood to listen so I just looked out the window. It was raining and I could feel the cold wind entering the car. I was watching the little rain drops in the window. I used to love making little races between the rain drops when I was little. The rain reminded me of the snow at Kayd's house. Why did the snow stopped when Kayd looked? Why was it snowing in the first place? How was it snowing? I decided to go check in the computer in my house but first I need to get though mom.

mom: where do you think you're going?
me: to my room
mom: you're not going to your room just yet, we haven't decided your punishment
me: but mom
mom: no buts
me: (nothing)
mom: why did you leve the camp?
me: I was hungry
mom: why didn't you buy something in the vending machines?
me: cause that's not food
mom: oh so it's not food now but when you're locked up in your room it's the only food you eat
me: um.. It's... not lunch, I eat that in my room cause those are snacks
mom: so a whole jumbo bag of chips is a snack?
me: um... y-y-yes
mom: well do you like the camp?
me: yes
mom: do you want to go back?
me: yes
mom: okay but you are going to have to call me every hour to be sure you are there
me: every hour? What if I forget
mom: oh you're not going to because you will have this watch
me: a watch?
mom: yes a watch and your also going to cut the grass in front of the house
me: I HAVE TO CUT THE GRASS?
mom: yes unless you don't want to go to camp anymore
me: NO, it's okay I'll cut the grass and I will call you
mom: okay now you can go
me(low voice): finally

I ran upstairs to my computer and I started to search for snow in only one certain area but nothing came up. The only thing I found were some storm stuff, how is that helpful. I wish Kayd could help me hack the history files maybe then I would know something about the Night Stars but that crystal ball appeared and also the counselor. If he had not interrupted I would have found out more about that. Why is it my mom involved with that? Why did they come to this town? Is that why my mom choose to move here? Why is she keeping secrets from me? Then my thoughts were interrupted by this a voice the same voice I heard earlier today in the bathroom. Then I saw here, I saw the old woman who I saw in the mirror but this time I saw her stand in front of me. She was starting at me with a proud face. Is she my grandma? she looks like her. She looked at me with a proud face, like I belong to her. Is she a shadow? I don't think she is. She looks to me like more of a ghost and the journal said the shadow can't enter or see anything in my room that means that is not what she is. That's it! The journal, maybe it has something about the Night Stars. I passed pages and some even fell on the floor, until I found it the page that will explain everything.

The Night Stars:

A group of many generations of crystal gazers or some may call them psychics. This group is only for teenagers. The can see the future or have visions of the past. They can only see the future with their crystal ball but can have feelings of thing that are going to happen. They can see and communicate with ghost. The are the most ones that the shadows victimize. They want them to suffer for their gift, for them to feel their pain or for them to send a message. Beware if you ask for a prediction and not pay your part they will use every force they have to seek revenge. Never make a promise you can't keep.

Wait, my mom can see the future and see visions of the past. Does that mean I can see the future too? Can I have predictions of the past? Is this in my blood? Is that why the camp's computer couldn't proses it? I need to get some rest.
