The start of what would lead to a bitter end

Dream had been ignoring Sapnap all day to put it bluntly, he didn't mean to and it wasn't intentional, but it was still happening.

He had been editing videos all day, responding and diffusing any drama involving him, as well as planning out merch designs and lore for Tommy and Ranboo's streams that he'd be participating in at a later date. All of this took up time in his days and if not streaming he rarely interacted with his boyfriend Sapnap recently.

And of course Sapnap couldn't blame him, he knew his boyfriend worked hard and he admired him for that. But he also missed seeing him just as much as he was happy Dream was doing what he loved.

One day he had had enough of sitting around waiting for the odd chance dream would have dinner with him, (he usually grabbed some leftovers only to go back to his office, or Sapnap would already be in bed by the time he was done). So he walked into Dream's office silently and gently rested his hands onto his shoulder, they were tense and Sapnap desperately wanted Dream to take a break, not even because he missed him but he wanted his lover to rest for a bit.

"Sap come on don't do that i'm busy" if not for softening the blow of that harsh statement with that nickname Sapnap melted for, he thought he was going to cry right then and there.

"Oh, uhm you're right sorry Dream" Sapnap hastily responded lifting his arms backwards off of him, almost embarrassed at the way he thought of interrupting him, even though in his head he knew he wasn't at fault, he just missed his boyfriend. And rightfully so.

Dream tensed up more at the lack of Sapnap using a nickname for him as well, which he knew his boyfriend loved doing, but the blonde quickly brushed it off as he regained priority on his work.

Sapnap then couldn't leave without asking this no matter how hurt he was, tears threatening to spill at the harsh tone dream had with him "...have you eaten yet?" He asked almost timidly even though it was a harmless and caring question, he just wanted to make sure his lover was at least taking care of himself if not Sapnap. "I had breakfast earlier, now will you please either go Sap or be quiet, I need to finish this editing", there it was...the breaking point for Sapnap. He wanted to scream at Dream but was too hurt to do so. For lack of how to respond and not wanting to spend any longer in there than needed, Sapnap left without another word.

A good 2 and a half hours went by and Sapnap was spending the time watching some movies on their TV, it wasn't late enough to go to sleep yet but it was also too early to do much else other than eat the dinner which had gone cold, Sapnap foolishly thought...no, hoped for Dream to possibly join him.

He almost laughed at himself for thinking of such a thing that had once been the highlight of his day, now becoming a scarce moment between the two.

Dream stretched and rubbed his eyes, taking a look at his clock on his monitor, 1:43 am. 'Wow' he thought, now he's had his fair share of all nighters but considering he started his day at 6am the other morning, the hours he was reading on the clock did not ease him in the slightest.

He then thought of Sapnap, wondering if he'd still be up.

Walking down the stairs of their apartment he got to the living room to see Sapnap on the couch, dim lit lights, TV screen glowing and his head in his hand, which was resting on the arm of the couch. He trudged over and stood next to the armrest where his lover's head was resting high above his arm, noticing that he still hasn't been acknowledged yet.

This makes him curious as almost every time he even enters the room his loving boyfriend is always quick to either call for him or hug and kiss him. Dream didn't sit right with this feeling but quickly brushed it off seeing as it must be just him focusing on the movie.

He ended the comfortable silence with a soothing "hey sap, how ya doing?" he goes to touch Sapnap's arm but he surprisingly sits up, moving away from his touch. Dream pulls back in shock and goes to ask what's wrong when Sapnap starts saying "Good, ahem, i'm good just you know tired, i'm gonna head in for tonight" he shortly said whilst getting up and turning the TV off, leaving dream with only a bit of light and his thoughts.

Well what he was thinking was, 'why on earth did Sapnap pull away from his touch, his Sapnap loved affection no matter who it was from, which concerned him more because it was his own boyfriend's touch of all people, so why did he shy away from him'.

And also, 'he just up and left with no goodnight kiss or anything', this just added to dreams worries. Dream wasn't the jealous or possessive type at all, but- he still adored the love he got from Sapnap, so when he doesn't get what if so normal, he does get a bit upset.

He physically couldn't think about it anymore than he already had, as his headache and overall strain from the 19 hours he's been awake. So he decided it would be best to just go brush his teeth and go to sleep. Grabbing an Advil on the way to the bathroom.

He enters the room silently trying not to wake Sapnap, he pulls the covers over top of himself, he debates in his head whether or not to see if his boyfriend is awake, but decides to fuck it and go for it.

"Sapnap love-" he starts, and Sapnap melts at the way he says it. "-are you awake?" he waits patiently but there's no answer, assuming he's asleep he then trifles with the idea of holding him, Sapnap's back and is turned towards him and he's in a perfect position to spoon.

Dream reaches an arm over to embrace him but slowly hesitates, rethinking and not wanting to wake his sleeping beauty. He sighs, contently resting his hands on his chest and slowly drifting to sleep.
