The Qishan Wen Clan was founded by Wen Mao , the first cultivator to switch from the school-based system of cultivation to a bloodline-based system. At the height of its power, there are no clans that can compare to the Wen Clan's number of disciples, power, land, or magical tools. Many cultivators take supreme honor in being a foreign disciple to the Qishan Wen Clan . 

Nightless City is the residence of the Qishan Wen Clan . It is enormous, almost comparable to a city. Their residence was named Nightless City, because it is said that there is no nightfall in their city. The Palace of the Sun and Flames is the tallest building in Nightless City, with a wide plaza beneath it. Its roof has a total of twelve ridges, and at the end of each ridge are eight heavenly beasts .

It is the Wen Ruohan's  torture chamber .

Wen Ruohan is the current clan leader the Qishan Wen. He has the appearance of a man in his twenties despite having two grown sons, as his cultivation is strong enough to maintain his body at peak fitness .Wen Ruohan is a sadist, collecting torture devices in his Fire Palace to play with prisoners until they die . But it is not enough for him . He wants to rule the entire cultivation world .

And he has a perfect plan in mind . 

Wen Ruohan laughed like manic in his secret chamber as he watched the demons fulfill his wish in exchange of  human souls that he gave them to be more powerful . He smiled evilly as he saw the demons bought back the lost soul from the gates of hell . 

But this soul is not any common soul  . Of course he is not , otherwise why will Wen Rouhan work so hard to bring him back from depths of hell . From the deepest and most the most dangerous parts of hell , the demons brought back Xue Chonghai .

Calling his past dark would be generous .

Xue Chonghai was a power-hungry man . He wanted to rule the whole world just like Wen Rouhan . He was willing to slaughter people just to grow his power. So, he began to sacrifice people to grow resentful energy inside a special type of metal that could absorb spiritual energy, creating Yin Metal. Xue Chonghai controlled the Tortoise of Slaughter to eat the souls of many people, including cultivators. With the heavy resentful energy he obtained, he learned to snatch spirits to make living corpse puppets, and was thus the true inventor of demonic cultivation.

But his dreams to rule the world could never be successful . The Five Great sects came together to fight him . Then send him to hell to let his soul rot . And this is not the first time someone feed demons souls in agreement to bring him back from hell . Decades ago someone else tried too . But that's history .

He looked at the man in front of him . From the looks he can tell his intention . From the demon, that bought him out of hell , he know this man can do anything . He went as far as to give his wife's soul to the demon  to fulfill his wish . 

"Welcome back from hell ." Wen Rouhan grinned evilly .

A swift breeze of wind brushes against Wei Wuxian in evening glow . He put down the scroll that he was reading . He felt energy outside the house . But it is not any restful energy but heavenly energy . He got up from his sit and grabbed his sword . He wordlessly tugged his flute in his belt . 

He smiled as he opened the door and greeted the goddess standing there . She was no other than Ling Wen, also known as Ling Wen Zhen Jun is the foremost Civil Goddess in the Heavenly Court and one of the notorious Three Tumors.

" You highness how may I help you ?" Wei Wuxian asked cheekily after bowing to her .

She smiled at him softly , then returned the bow .

 "It's been a long time God of War. " She greeted him with his title . Then her face slightly shifted , recoiling the reason she came .

Wei Ying laughed at the title . But soon he noticed her expression and asked in serious voice

" Is everything alright in heavens ? Did something happen ?"

" Snake Demon has gained his power . Someone fed him souls of mortal ." She replied .

Wei Ying's eyes grow wide in disbelief .
