The next day came just as quickly as the night before had ended.
Conversations between Reese and I were relatively slim before the night ended.

She leaned back into her seat, her eyes low with boredom as she pulled a cigarette out of her pocket.
She tucked the cigarette in between her teeth and fished a lighter out of her pocket as well.
Her fingers, slender and covered in rings, flicked the lighter. A small flame appeared and she leaned in ever so slightly to light the cigarette.

I watched her with my head on the table, absolutely mesmerized by the beauty of this girl.
My eyes were filled with desire, every move of hers was precise and delicate.

At this point, our chemistry was undeniable, but maybe that's all that it is.
Sexual chemistry.
Not a crush, not love.
Lust.

"Dude, I thought you quit." Tai looked at Reese with a look of disgust.
"I thought so too." Reese shrugged and looked up at the ceiling, her bare neck exposed.

I looked at her neck closely to make sure that it wasn't filled with love bites given to her by someone else.
I breathed a gentle sigh of relief, she can definitely talk to and do whatever she wants to, but there was a slight comfort in knowing that I wasn't just another notch on her belt.

Reese looked down at me as I stared up at her like a desperate puppy, my eyes big and round.
She smirked ever so slightly, as if she knew the absolutely power that she had over me.
She exhaled, smoke escaping her mouth, the cigarette hanging from her lips.

She held my face by my chin gently as my head rested on the table, while Tai and Kennedy went back to the bar, absorbed in their own conversation.

Reese rubbed my chin slowly, moving her thumb dangerously close to my lips.
She rubbed her thumb over my lower lip and I opened my mouth slowly, almost instinctively.
She slipped her thumb into my mouth slowly and my eyes widened.

I wrapped my tongue around her finger slowly and sucked, looking up at her.
"My good girl, yeah?" she whispered, her voice husky.
I gently wrapped my hand around hers and nodded.
She stared at me for a while as if savoring the moment, then moved her hand, once again focusing on the cigarette and so, we barely interacted for the rest of the night.

I decided not to overthink it and not to let it get to me, especially since I had a date with Lo this evening.
More importantly, I decided not to let anything like that happen with Reese again.

This is what I wanted from the beginning, I reminded myself.
Lo is who I wanted from the beginning, So that's who I chose to focus on as I got ready.

I sat in front of my mirror, running my fingers through my hair as I tried to decide on what to wear.
I looked over at the clock on my dressing table.
5:30pm.
Lo should be here in about 30 minutes.

It wasn't long before I got changed and coated my lips in gloss to the point where they were shiny in appearance.
I looked back at the mirror, adjusting my skirt and my hair, looking nothing short of angelic.
I hope that Lo appreciates the effort that I put into my appearance since it's something that I rarely do unless I really want to impress someone.

I inhaled sharply as I heard a knock on the door, my stomach immediately twisting into a knot. That had to be her.

I grabbed my bag and Lo's jacket, went downstairs and opened the door to reveal Lo standing with a rose in her hand.
"For you, m'lady."
I felt a smile tug at my lips as I took the rose gracefully, reciprocating her energy, "Thank you so much, madam."
Lo smiled and nodded, slightly peeking over my shoulder, "Are your parents here? Do you want me to introduce myself?"
"Oh no, it's fine." I answered, stepping outside and locking the door behind me, "My dad will only be back at around 6, so I'm alone at home."

I could feel Lo's eyes on me, and I could feel the burning question in her throat even more so.
The 'and where's your mom?' question.

However, instead of asking, she changed the topic, "You ready to go?"
"Yeah, I'm ready." I answered and we walked to her car.
She did everything right, opening the door for me, she complimented me as I got in the car, made sure my seat belt was on and kept a good conversation going as we drove.

Something that missing though, and the fact that I didn't know what, was bugging me.
I stared at the dashboard in a slight daze.
This is what I wanted for the longest time, Why didn't it feel right?

Lo looked over at me after a while, frowning, "You seem a bit tense. Something wrong?"
I snapped out of my trance and looked at her, "Huh?"
"Is something wrong?"
I shook my head, recollection myself, "No, Nothings wrong." I looked down at her jacket in my hands, "I brought your jacket, by the way. Thanks for letting me borrow it."

Lo looked over at me then at the jacket before smiling at me again, "Keep it."
"Keep...it?"
"Yes, keep it." Lo's hand was on the steering wheel as she leaned back into the car seat, her other hand reached over and gently squeezed my thigh, "It looks better on you anyway."
My cheeks flushed red and whatever doubt I was feeling earlier immediately disappeared.

Her hand stayed on my thigh for the duration of the trip as we spoke about who knows what.
Her hand being there didn't even feel sexual, just comforting. Calming.

We ended up parked by a cliff with music blasting as we sat on the hood of the car.
The stars danced in the sky, watching over us.

I picked up my cup filled with iced apple juice.
We stopped at a drive thru to get food, which we both agreed was the best thing to do.

"You don't want to sit down somewhere?" Lo had asked me.
"Nah." I had responded, looking over at her, "Let's do something simple."

That's how we ended up here.
I rested my head on Lo's shoulder and she wrapped her arm around me.
I took another sip of apple juice and looked at the overview of the city below us.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" I could feel Lo staring at me.
"Yeah, it is. Ethereal, almost." I looked up at her.
She smiled at me, leaning in and resting her forehead against mine.

I breathed in deeply as she pressed the tip of her nose against mine, essentially giving me an Eskimo kiss.
I giggled and put the cup down, using that same hand to put my hand behind her head and pull her slightly closer.

"I can kiss you...right?" her question was soft and timid.
"Hm..." I mumbled, my answer barely coherent.
She obliged, giving me a soft kiss. Her lips were plush and the moment was almost perfect.
Expect I didn't feel anything.

No butterflies, no spark.
We just felt like two people whose lips have touched.

Lo must've disagreed, because she was looking down at me as if I was the one who put all the stars in the sky.
I smiled weakly as she gave me a tight squeeze.

Was there something wrong with me?
