If anyone can make me do anything, It's Kennedy.
Her energy is so bright and infectious that when she flashes me a smile, I'll do what she says in a heartbeat.

Is that a good or bad trait? I don't know, but it makes me do things I wouldn't usually do. That's why when she asked me to go along on the school trip, although hesitantly, I did say yes.

Now I'm sat down on Kennedy's porch, my bags at my feet, waiting for her to come down so that we could leave together.
I was embathed in sunlight and it was nice but I was starting to get bored nonetheless.
If I sat in silence for long enough, my mind would take me to the weirdest of places and I was not in the mood for that.

What was taking Kennedy so long?
The sun was transitioning from warm and comforting to hot and bothersome. Gosh.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of heavy footsteps.
I frowned before looking up to see Noah's six foot tall figure towering over me.

Oh.

"Hey Marcy." Noah smiled his regular beaming smile.
"Hi?" I sighed softly before pulling myself up.
"It's been a while." Noah looked me up and down.
I noticed him staring at my chest area so I folded my arms while clearing my throat uncomfortably, "Uh, Yeah."
"At least you look good." he replied.
I shifted my weight from one foot to another awkwardly, "Noah, Listen, About what happened...It was a mistake. We should never have...Y'know." I was struggling to formulate a proper sentence.
"Oh...Uh, For sure. I get that." He cleared his throat and despite his words, I doubt he 'got that'.

His reaction, or lack thereof, promoted me to continue speaking, "It was just a bad decision and I would really appreciate it if we just forgot it happened? Especially since Kennedy is my best friend." I spoke, examining his facial expression.
He didn't seem all that bothered. Was he even listening properly?

"Right, Water under the bridge." he shrugged dismissively, "You need help with your bags? Kennedy should be down soon." he offered graciously, the smile on his face returning once again.
"Yes, Please." I answered which lead to him picking up my things and going to pack them into the car.

I couldn't be bothered to figure out if Noah was actually just that nonchalant about the situation, I just wanted to leave.

I sighed in relief upon Kennedy's arrival, "Dude, That took forever!"
"The trip is gonna be forever!" Kennedy answered while dragging her bags, "I had to pack for any possible scenario."
"The trip is for, like, a week." I said very matter of factly.
"What does that have to do with me?" Kennedy rolled her eyes walking to the car, "C'mon Marcy we gotta go!" she exclaimed as if I was the one that made us late.
I groaned but despite that, simply being in Kennedy's presence made me feel slightly better.

That's the beauty of having a best friend, isn't it?
They make you feel better even on your worst days.
They make you happier and above all, I don't think they fuck your older sibling.

Some friend I am, huh?

I desperately tried to ignore the guilt ridden ache in my chest as we made our way to school.

It wasn't long before we left the house and ended up at our destination, getting onto the tour bus.
Due to our timing, the bus was mostly full and there were very few seats available.

"Kennedy, Over here!" Tai yelled from the back of the bus.
Kennedy looked over at me and I spoke up before she could say anything, "It's okay Kenny, You can go." I smiled.
Kennedy nodded, "I'll see you later, okay?" she gently nudged me with her elbow before making her way to Tai.

I sighed, looking around before feeling someone touch my shoulder.
It was the Biology teacher, Ms.Martinez, looking as concerned as ever. "Aw honey, You don't have a place to sit?"
I shook my head slowly, "No ma'am."
